I've had broken joysticks a couple of times in the 3 yrs I've played, and have always gone to infantry which uses the mouse, and never got bored. We had some NICE infantry battles tonight. For once I had my light machine gun smoking... (not the easiest weapon in the game to master)

I prefer the French Rifle.  Nothing like sneaking through the European country side with a small group of infantry hunting an enemy armor column and picking off all their infantry support before they know what hit them.  :)

Infantry rocks in WW2OL and with the new and improved foilage coming out soon, it will only improve!

If it is so good how come things that should have been out ages ago : Read - Ordinace server, fixing of 64 "limit" , making sure that u can exit and join vehicles... shit the graphics are gettin upped to a 2002 standard, but graphics are, have never been and will never be the point of this game..

The Navy gets screwed over all the time and I'm sorry but players who have hanged out in WWIIOL since release have'nt got the patience for one little boat every 2 years.. Navy is a joke.. and a poor one.

Why do the so called Rats hire community managers like MegaDeth instead of gettin programers and graphic artists too the game..
Is they are so few in their team why not spend money on something usefull ?

    Okey enough venting here...

WWIIOL is a fair game with lots of good moments in it.. no other game where u can fly in a huge air raid and affect a whole game and thousands of people.

Combined arms is another strong point.

Saddly inf play is still very poor and the focus of things like rifle granades does'nt really help in long turn..

For people who like simulation and WWII-history I would say this is a game for you.. even more serious FPSers could learn to like it.

RPGers will find it almost totally lacking of an RPG part of the game ( Im NOT talking skills and such here) that would have added O SO MUCH...

ah well maybe 2011 it will be something worth for all too play..

Coz this aint Microsoft! Had it been you would have seen a watered down version of the same idea.

They are very focused on where this game is goin, and to prevent it from mutating into some watered idea of the original-due-to-some-evil-producer they are more or less "independent".

That they have even gotten so far as they have is only due to the genius idea! That they have even produced so much with soo few resources is totally mindblowing if U think about it!

MUCH has been added, people just doesnt really think about HOW much has been added in 2003, and by the rate the production time for "stuff" in the game has been reduced.

Now about the Navy, CRS does not wish to give us some half a** lame Navy Part, so they have decided to create a real hydrophonical model, this takes time but will be worth it!

About mobile spawning and such features, this does represent some difficulties (meaining it will take time) as they will have to recode a lot of stuff and so on, but they do have a idea about it I read somewhere. The thing is that CRS seriously thinks about every thing they do, and the effect of each thing they do. The community is beeing used for major debates of major changes in the game, so we do get our say. And if you read such a post on the forum you will realise just how many different oppinions there are, and CRS then try to find the middleway while still staying true to their own idea!

While people demand more & more features they also demand more vehicles, better graphics, better servers and so on & on & on & on.

As just one example Ill meantion that CRS introduced none fewer that 18 new vehilces/weapons in 2003, and DONT focus on the RifleGrendae like it was supposed to save the infantry part of the game, it was not! The new Infantry model comming up IS!

    Hey all,

Another N00B here wanting to try this game but a few different question , related to bandwidth this time. Am not sure how this will work for a player in Asia. Are there are asian servers et all. Just curious , 'coz the way it sounds , the vegetation upgrades , visual damage and other eye-candies being added in , would my bandwidth support it and gimme a decent ping (I won't mind a ping of about 50 ms as I average that while playin' UT2K4 online).

I've got a cable connection and wanna hear some testimonials of good connectivity before I join in. Never played any MMOG's so far , but since am a war enthusiast too , am dyin' to try WWII Online. Hear good things abt gameplay and some promising new features for graphics too , am just too excited to try it out but not before I get all of these answered.

Not very important , but does the game incorporate voice communication thru roger wilco or in-game voice software like the one in UT2K4 ?

Thanx a lot and I wish to get on as soon as I can :D.

There is just one server, neo_2004. And it's located in the US. That doesn't mean that you're going to be lagging. I (living in Greece, which probably has the crappiest internet providers in the EU) get a ping of around 80. Unfortunately I don't know any Asian player personally, so I could ask him to answer your question but someone else might ;-/ If it helps I know that Australian players are getting very acceptable pings.

" Not very important , but does the game incorporate voice communication thru roger wilco or in-game voice " If you are asking if such software is part of the game then no it isn't. Most of the playerbase though is using TS and HC squads get access to the HC TS servers.

    Hey ,

That was pretty convincing. Thanx a lot , I can really survive with a ping of 80 , not worst ; though still bad, lol.

"Most of the playerbase though is using TS and HC squads get access to the HC TS servers."

What is TS and HC squads ? I didn't quite understand that :(.

Glad to know that ya are a Greek :). I would love to visit Athens one day for that place has the most beautiful architecture for buildings preserving the ancient looks and the modern touches. It falls in the ranks of Prague for preservin' the ancient structures and building a city around them. Appreciate that :). FYI , am from Bombay , India and ya are most welcome to my city !

Thanx for everythin' , bro !!

    Hey Neo,

I play very late PST so I go up against Aussy/Asian prime time people and I don't notice them having a problem killing me so it must be good on their end  ;)

Also, TS is Teamspeak (better comm program then Roger wilco) and HC is High Command.  There is a psudo command structure in game which is called High Commands.  Both allied and axis sides have players who volunteer their time to HC functions trying to organize squads and or "lone wolf" players to specific goals/tasks.

Here are the links to the two HC's sites.

I had about 280 ping (now 180), before CRS changed faster ISP and game was playing just fine. All hits, damage, etc are calculated YOUR end so it doesnt affect much in game play (only that it takes little longer to target die).

Even with ping 300 you can play all elements of game just fine.

  • neo_2004neo_2004 Member Posts: 15

Being able to play in 300 ping is pretty cool. I shouldn't be bothered et all , huh ?

Wow , nice to hear abt all the good things abt this game so far which means am gonna join real soon.

    Thanx for all your help

    Cheers

Heh, neo_2004 I went to India once but I only visited New Delchi(spelling?). Unfortunately I was not on vacation... went there for the math olympics of 1996. Very different place and culture than what I used to. :) Maybe one day I'll get back there and do some sightseeing. :)

Guess you never played many games then, it sure isn't the best updated game.

A list of games which are good updated.

    - Anarchy Online.
    - Second Life
    - Neocron
    - And a few others.

Don't say something when you don't know a thing about it.

I saw this and i got a bit pissed. I agree with phantium on this. I 2 have played a shitload of mmorpgs but that is besides the point.

WWIIonline has amongst the best CRS around, and the patching is awsome. Every patch we get is a good one... except one in the early stages of the development... sucked major old lady hiney but other then then the patches has been unbeliveble good.

Most mmorpgs change alot during the making and even more after they have gone live. WWIIonline is a great example of a game that has always gone in the right direction... why? Because its based on reality. There are always records, know how about the WWII, tons of intel about how to destroy that, shoot that down and so on. That is something other mmorps doesnt have. They fumble in the blind to make a mmorpg thats well balanced and fun to play. They see something with a class thats not as they wanted it to become and change it..... leaving hundreds, maybe even thousands players with a change... to the worse. That is sadly the truth about most mmorpgs patches, class changes, spell changes, weapon dmg table changes, monster dmg table changes, range, luck, area of effect, skill, and so on in inphinity... almost  lol Due to the fact that WWIIonline is a mmorpg based on WWII, a true event and the weapons and everything you use in game, can be found for real. It doesnt matter how they change things, how they changes a bullets flight in air, to hit the target, how it moves inside a target... everything is based on real facts  so it doesnt matter how they cange it. It will always become more real like and therefor better.

CRS are great, kind and willing to help so is the game developers. There is nothing better then to see the game developers kill with the rest of us. Shows the players that the developers still care about the game and not the money. Shows that they enjoy playing their own game on their spare time, they care about their product something that alot of companies forgett in the development process.

All games get their updates. Its not how many thats the point, its how good they are and there beats WWIIonline all the rest mmorpgs with lightyears.

If you are incompetent dont try the game. It will be too much for you to handle. There is an extremely steep learning curve. Those of us that have been playing since it came out in 2001 have learned and grown with the game as it was patched, but for someone that is brand new it might be a bit much to handle. Your best bet will be to hook up with a squad, they will help you out and make the game much more enjoyable, and you will earn faster as well.

Still one of the best games out there. And one of the most updated as well.

    -Soli - Blaster
    -Night.Stalker - VFA25 - Lo-Mac (yea, yea, it's not an MMORPG)
-Solister Thunderblade - 50 Pole, Thrust Arms - Pellinor (retired)
    -Splyt - 50 Skald - Tristan (reitred)
    -Sniper22 - WWII Online (semi-retired)

    -Structure Fire - 11 Fire/Devices Blaster - Justice
    -Night.Stalker - VFA25 - Lo-Mac (yea, yea, it's not an MMORPG)
-Solister Thunderblade - 50 Pole, Thrust Arms - Pellinor (retired)
    -Splyt - 50 Skald - Tristan (reitred)
    -Sniper22 - WWII Online (semi-retired)

It opens up a new browser with an error message in it. The error message is "Sorry, we do not recognize your username and/or password. Contact our Customer Support staff."

Thatz frustrating. I dunno what else to do , so I reset my account twice , would that help et all , so far , it didn't. I can't even get into the training servers :(. The account is not even 2 days old. My Credit card must hv been billed or atleast approved to be able to download the game , rite ? All the latest versions of the game and playgate are there in my computer.

Any ideas plz ? I can't wait to get in :(.

Just a couple of questions. Did you purchase a Game Key (costs $19.95 I think)? It costs nothing to download the game, so you would not be billed for that. But if you did not purchase a Game Key, then sign up with a username and password you will not be able to connect to either the Training server or the Main server.

Next thing, if you did purchase a game key and created an account using it, did you try connecting to the Main Server? The Training Server is not the best way to Test if an Account is working properly. It shoudl work there, but testing entry to the Main server would be a better test.

Also, what version of the game sis you download? We just received a new version on Thursday and I guess it's possible there could be a bug somewhere.  image

Another thing, be sure that you are using all lower case when entering your Username and Password.  ;)

    Hi Pruitt ,

Yes , I did purchase the game key online. How else do I make that sure besides tryin' to recall what I did ? My online CC statement wouldn't show that so soon even they billed it so fast.

The version I downloaded is the latest one (1.14) and also the most recent version for playgate (1.9 i guess).  I tried loggin' into the main server by clickin' on "Play for Allied" but nothin' worked out.

I've a very important question here. Am I not supposed to get a confirmation email from playnet statin' , my credit card has been billed and the transaction approved and stuff ? I got nothin' really. AM not talkin' abt the one-liner mail ya get from playnet when a new account is made.

Also I noticed that in the manage subscriptions page , the playnet services that are "free" shows "active"  but the 12.95$ monthly fee WWII online premium service  says "Not subscribed" with the action as "Subscribe Now".    DO YOU THINK THE PROBLEM LIES HERE ? Plz help !

LOL, I dun wanna end up billin' my CC twice just in case , the previous one has got billed.

Thanx very much for the help , Pruitt :)

    Just saw this thread.

I can't remember who still handles accounts.

    Send a note to rafter@playnet.com

He can point you in the right direction or have someone contact you.  These guys are pretty quick on the draw usually.

If you won't be able to log in for a bit, you may want to practice up.  Go to your Playnet/WorldWarIIOnline/Practice Offline and get yourself acquainted with the equipment and commands.  Do some reading and check out the stickies in the forums.  You can select the Settings App in the same folder and tweak your game to match your computer if necessary.

Good luck and dont let the learning curve get to you. It does take practice as it is simulation based.

If anyone is curious about the actual size of the WWIIOL world...click this link...and remember. Every six weeks, we get a update that not only adds or updates equipment, personnel, and vehicles but also updates and adds towns for the most part.  Pretty damn cool.

    Neo,

First off, email rafter as stated above.  Second, from the sound of it, I would guess that you didn't fully subscribe.  You need to have your account listed as at least the $12.95/month.  Lastly, practice offline as stated and read the WW2ol forums and learn as much as you can.

I hope you have a fairly new computer.  You will need at least a 128 MB vid card to take advantage in newest graphics.  Upgrading system memory would not be a bad move either.  Some players routinely use 1 GB, though it is functional with 512 MB.

Good luck when you get in game, but don't forget to try Axis as well.  ;)   Sign up with a squad as soon as possible to learn the game quickest.

    Sincerely,

    Me262a

WWii billing is a nightmare, when I signed up it didn't get going straight away.  I sent a ticket into Playnet and it was sorted fairly quickly.

Guess I was one of the lucky ones.

    Hey ,

Yup , I did all that you guyz told me to do. Still waitin' for the reply , hence in the meanwhile I hv asked a newly registered member to lemme know how his subscriptions page looks like. Maybe I could get some pointers from his answer. I hv got a 64 MB Geforce card , now would that suck while playin' ? If I hv to upgrade it to a 128 MB , then I'll hv to wait for another month until I get paid :(. My motherboard slots have all been filled up , so 512 mb(present in my computer) is the max RAM that can  be upgraded . So I've hv had 2 initial hic-cups(AGP and RAM) already even before gettin' into action. Ya think I'll fall sick on the battlefield :( ?

          Hey thanx all :)
