Now im actually not worried about it being bad considering that I dont play games hardcore and I play other games on the side anyways I was wondering how fun is this game really? Im getting so desperate lately actually thinking of going back to wow but I know I wont enjoy it because of the community and harcore raiding.

DDO is a fantastic game imo. It's beautiful to look at, has the best combat out there at the minute and is getting better all the time!

The game is challenging as the dungeons are so far and away better than any other MMO's that it is not even funny!

I cannot see any MMO that is released or  that is coming out in the near future that will drag me away from DDO.

One of the great things about DDO is that you don't have to devote your life to it.

Download the free trial, get into a group and see for yourself.

Dude, honestly, the game is FUN!

Watch this video, though it's about weapons it shows how action orientated and fantastic the game is!

What class do you suggest to start with and whats a friendly populated server? I also play late at night sometimes. I just was not sure about this game considering all the reviews and low rating on this site.

Thanks for the reply btw ill give it a try.

Well I play on Euro servers and they are pretty equal in terms of friendliness and population. Dude, in regard to the ratings on this site, I think the LOTRO review has blown out any credibility this site had.

As for character choice, try any you fancy but be aware that casters especially will find any soloing you may do more difficult. I play a wizard as I like casters.

I too saw all the negativity on this site before trying DDO but I take it with a pinch of salt. I am so glad I tried it out for myself because now I couldn't swap to another MMO.

Can only comment on the Euro servers but I have no problem getting a group at anytime, even 7am some mornings. The key to grouping in DDO is to create your own group. The LFM/LFG system is second to none and gives you all the tools you need to get together the people you need. Start a group and people will be around you like flies around shit!

Oh yes, it makes me laugh that people can't wait for AoC to launch so they can swing their weapon in real time and dodge spells and arrows etc, Dude, people have been doing that in DDO since Day 1, over 12 months ago!!!!! It's old news now!!

One more thing, WIZARDS OF THE COAST are more than happy with the game and the direction it is taking!

I'm in the same boat and started this game up a week ago and I'm really enjoying it.  I play Planetside alot with my son still but I play this after he has gone to bed and my friend and I can spend some time smashing through the fun dungeons 8)

For starters I would rec a bard or cleric or rog/ranger.  Something where you don't have to lead thru the dungeons.  Very different MMO with fun action combat, perfect to at least tide me over till TR/AOC come out or I slip into beta.

you could try the trial to see if you like it. http://trial.ddo.com/

I think I might do that. I haven't played since the stress tests.

I was actually thinking of trying some of those espically bard but I really did not want human and I do not have drow unlocked yet. Also I do not like the way the elves faces look in this game at all, cleric sounds tempting as well but for ranger and rogue I think I want drow for those makes more since rp wise as well:)

Yes, do yourself a favor and do the free trial before opening your wallet.  Keep in mind, however, that they require credit card information to register for the free trial.

Indeed, try the trial before you get the game. It isn't for everyone.

I thought it looked pretty good, but when I tried the trial, I was disappointed that it didn't fit my tastes after all. Although I know a friend who started playing it recently and said he was having a blast...

That's a shame. I wish I'd read this sooner - I just finished downloading the client. It looks like it might be a fun casual MMO, but I reserve my CC info for making actual purchases.
