OMG, why bother with downloading an online game when you haveto dial up? This will take forever whatever you whant to play. The loadingtimes will take forever... I suggest you try and get broadband and then start worrying about MMORPGs... Though if you insist on playing these already laggy games (mostly) with an even worse connection then alright, but don't complain about the downloading time...
Loading and lag are not problems, my computer can usualy handle it. The lag i face is almost always sever lag. As for download time a Nearly 1GB game for download only is huge no matter how you look at it. I have friends that have broadband and could download it for me but no way to get it to my computer becuase i have niether an exteral hardrive or a dvd drive.
The game is still kinda rough but seems more advanced than Lineage2 was at their beta (beta/release). Cant say i'd really recommend it. Doesnt seem like anyone is putting out a game worth a damn lately.

Theoretically, you could plug your harddisk on one of theirs motherboard, that is, if there is cables/slots free, make him download and copy it to yours and just put your harddisk back into your PC.
When i invested in a new computer not so long ago, i wanted to keep my old files associated with my new hardware and had to do this. If you follow this procedure, you should make sure the jumpers are set so that the target harddisk functions as slave, causing the PC to boot from the correct harddisk.

can be kind ahard to control, and i spent 5 minutes tryin to attack a creature before it'd even register me attackin it. it's got so much lag! hell, first time i connected, it instantly dropped me.

Nobody was complaining about the download time he was just stating that he wanted to know if it was worth the time to download. And FYI broadband and canble are not available to everybody. It may surprize you to know that many ppl in rural areas have no access to either. And most of us who don't may be lucky to get anything in the next few years because it'll just take that long to set things up in the area. You need to be within three or four kilometers of a tower in order to get DSL. So that means there would have to be a tower place at every eight KM radius for rural ppl to get it. Currently the cost of several towers to have maybe a few hundred ppl connected just isn't worth it to most companies. And cable also doesn't usually supply rural areas either. So some of us have no choice in the matter but suffer with crappy dial-up.
I figure within a year I will probibly no longer be able to play MMORPGs or even surf the web just because everything is being geared on the web for high-speed. And it takes me almost five mins just to load a web page anymore.

Cable and DSL may not be everywhere but there are other alternatives like satellite and ISDN. ISDN can even go up to 256 kbps downstream and runs along the same lines as your telephone so if you have 56k and there is any sort of business by your house there should be ISDN. It can be somewhat expensive for the power but it isn't outrageous.
Since the game is coming down in a few days don't download. Man I just realised the date on the post. I thought it said 6/8 and I forgot today was only the first of 6. lol

I have two chioces as of now. One Live with dial-up for 2 months until collage, Or try and convince my mom to invest in cable internet(not likely).

in addision to taking a million hours to download things, you are lagging the servers for the MMORPGS you are trying to play. People with the DSL are being given that info to process slower now, and its just a disservice to others when you use crappy bandwidth to play huge pipeline based games.
And like crap its not a good game. Its so new and inventive. The style is great, and the handling is so fresh. Its worth the time it takes to dl, but alas you did miss it. And it was a great time. I hope september comes faster.

Your best bet is to simply get a friend to DL it and burn for you. If thats not possible you can go to a library or a net cafee (although it might cost you a few bucks). But honestly get the game
Id give downloading a shot if only because of the open weeknds. You can download the game during the week and by the time your all done youll be able to play on the weekend. There is even a bit torrent download on the ryzom main site if your a linux guy or whatever. The more the marrier!
It sucks.
