Too late to start playing?

lilreap2k3lilreap2k3 Member UncommonPosts: 353

I wasn't able to play DAOC for the longest time because my computer was too old, and the game lagged like crazy. Now that I have a nice computer, I am willing to give it a shot. I am just worried I will be left playing solo because all the people still playing are already part of a tight knit guild. Is finding an active pvp oriented guild still possible this late in the game? Also where can I get a full set of the game + all expansions? I've only played the free trial back when I tried the game a while back.

Playing - Minecraft, 7 Days To Die, Darkfall:ROA, Path of Exile

Waiting for -

this game has advanced so far its almost impossible for a new person to catch up. I had a 50 dwarf healer  that i had prior to any expansions when i left. i tried to go back about a year ago and there is just too mutch to try and catch up and be viable. At least as a casual gamer anyway. if your hard core who knows?

Too much to catch up on?  That is a common complaint about old games.  If this were true, then no one would play more than 1-2 characters.

You can get to level 50 in a short time.  If you enjoy yourself and explore, go to the BG, then 5 days played is average.  It cake take as little as 72 hours if you want.  I am level 35 on my latest toon.  I started at level 1.  I have spent 1 day, 8 hours, and 47 min in game.  This includes going to the BG for many hours.  You earn XP in the BG's.  You get a free level every few days up till level 48.  There is a 50% orr 100% bonus to XP in the original zones.   When you get those free levels, you get money in addition to those levels.

If you play on the regular servers, you will need to do ToA.  That is a lot easier.  That will take some time for the raids, but not that big of a deal.  Artis are easy to get wtih at least 1 raid a week.  You can purchase ToA related items with RvR rewards.  You can earn RvR ranks in the level specific BG.

You can avoid the whole ToA thing and just go classic.  I mean on classic you get to 50, then buy some armor.  Farm a couple of jewlery pieces and then you are good to go.  I mean, "being behind" just is not much of an excuse for this game anymore.

I just started 2 weeks ago actually, I already got level 33, and bunch level 15 to 30 characters. I have bg'd alot, and just messed around. I'm already in good guild, nice folks, etc. This is on classic server don't know really how it all works on ToA but classic is fine I know for sure for new comers.

In a way Toa is easyer to equip max your toon , becuase artis are easy to get and level then MAX player made equipment (becuase it cost so much)

But you can easly use good player made equipment and compete. IF you wwant to play melee classic is needed.
