Galaxy that doesnt reset

I think it would be really nice if there was a galaxy or two that didnt reset every 2 weeks. Since it wouldnt reset there wouldnt be any ranks for characters or corporations. So you could just play with your friends without it all getting erased evry two weeks.

Yeah!!!!!!!!  That would be sooooooooooo cool!!!!   It really is very very very very ... (an hour later)... very very very annoying when it resets.  I mean, its like every time you really get a good start, BOOM! its all gone!!!!!!!!!  I really really really R$EALLY hope they make a server that doesn't reset AT ALL!

This was attempted in Tradewars, which Starport is based off of. They are basically the same, the only major difference is Starport ues a graphical interface.

What the developers/server admins found out was that if a game lasted roughly over a month there would be very few active players, or alot of low level players and a few strong ppl who would just masacure all the lower levels. They also noticed that there were very few people playing at this point in the game, which made it very boring for the ones who did.

Well, to solve that problem they could have an unusualy large amount of U.N. Territory with very low taxes so lower level people could stay there a long time, or forever if they wanted to.

To make this kind of galaxy's you need to have some things worked out:

1.) everything have to be the double price of the pax games even the ships except some ships so you cans tart of easy.
2.) also there should be some kind of newbie protection on this galaxies. like when you start a account.
3.) also how longer the game is busy the new players should start with a higher amount of money(max: 1.5 mil)
4.) The U.N area should be bigger. and also it would be cool if there where some more U.N areas over the galaxy (that are not connected with each other.) and also you will have a random start place in this un areas.
5.) the galaxy should be much bigger then the 2/3 weeks games ;D

well this was it for know all people help with ideas and rules.

Another thing that would make it easier on newbies is if they were protected by the U.N. for a few days (2-4) so that if they were attacked by a high leveled player they wouldn't lose any shields, but since they couldnt be damaged they would not be able to attack other players, they could still attack aliens on planets, just not players. This would give them time to earn experience and upgrade thier ship.

I think that no U.N. protection for some time  is not nessesary. For newbies there would be always U.N. protected space to mine or trade. If the safe space area would be bigger it could hold all the newbies alowing them to get used to game and earn some cash.

I guess that is right, larger U.N. protection would do just fine.

i think that when u die the higher the level u r, the less money u start with, but the lower level u r, the more $ u start with.  This way, the upper level players with savings in colonys can just get money from there colonys, and low level players have enough $ to easily buy shields, also, shields should be less expensive or they should make it so when u die u start with more shields, example: warrent officer gets---> 1000 shields, 10000 $ when he/she dies.  where as corpural gets---> 100 shields, 5000 $ when he/she dies.

                                    what'a'u think?

i would agree that at least 1 game should be longer then just 3 weeks, i for 1 would actually like to for once be able to complete building of if not just 1 system, then at least 1 planet. it gets VEEEEERY annoying to people like me who aren't very concerned with just getting xp to lose everything we worked on because a games ends in such a short time.its bad enough to have to defend while you are building , to have to clock watch basically at the same time.

the other thing i may make is to lower the construction time on various things in a colony. it may help to off set some of the unbalance that i have noticed in the game.

How about a variable length of time? Most games run the standard 2 weeks, but occasionally games start with 3 week, or 4 week, or up to 6 months run time instead?

6 monthes would be great! You wouldnt have players so good they kill anyone they meet. But it would give you PLENTY of time to get a really good ship w/ nice weapons; and/or a colony with all the upgrades, max population, and best of all a nice big bot O' money from even a small tax (3-5%). Awsome Idea ::::38::!
