I just hope they don't delay AOC anymore, because unlike WAR, they actually have groundbreaking innovation there. War will turn out to be a WoW on steroids type of game anyway. Same concept, same gameplay but different races/classes and better graphics.
(@ Meridion) .....Hey, I still have to scratch my PVP itch with UT2004, CSS, and BF2 every once in a while. With the longer more complicated games that are in these FPS titles I don't see what pvp in an mmorpg has over it really. I mean there is that whole thing of "I raid 5 hours a day to get that sword that allows me to win in pvp all the time"... but that's just a question of who has the most TIME on their hands. It seems pvp is just more competitive when it's more even and battles involve more 'skill' and 'micro' as Jeremy would say.
So spend 10 bucks, play UT2004 online, and play the ONSLAUGHT game with maps and vehicles... scenarios last for HOURS; and it's structurally equivalent to a WoW battleground, with no monthly fee.
well I have planned all along to give both AoC and WAR a serious try. If AoC doesn't get delayed, I don't mind WAR taking a little longer so I can focus on just AoC for a while. Will be interesting to see what this means for the apparent marketshare battle of AoC v. WAR - because if people get 4-5 months of AoC under their belts and are loving it, they might be less inclined to split time between the two and double their monthly fees. Maybe WAR should have a big free beta LOTRO-style to entice all the AoC players. Regardless, I'll try both.
For a PvP addict, probably not... LotRO is the hell of a game, but if youre the competetive PvP type its just not your title... And polished releases for the PvP crowd HAVE been very rare during the last months/years... Theres still EvE, but if you're not into space sim technocratic combat its just a no-go, even if youre the most hardcore PvP-l33t0r the world has ever seen...

I never said LOTRO was a title a PvP addict would go to, but you bring up a good point.
Would you, talking to the PvP addicts, rather wait on the game to be relased as well polished as LOTRO, or have to have the game early and deal with the bugs.
So, with WAR delayed that means nothing really good on the horizon anytime soon, unless you want to play LOTRO. .
I agree with this poster's comment.
The hunger for a fun MMORPG is as real as it is both intense and widespread. I have never seen this level of interest in a fun MMORPG in my lifetime. It makes me wish I was more involved and had an equity stake in the development of a MMORPG, because there is a market out there that I think is even larger than many of us realize.
However, I believe that expectations, standards, and the awe-factor are all higher. Further, I think levels of patience or tolerance for bugs, frustrating gameplay aspects are at an all-time low. It is a very interesting time for MMORPGs. People want MORE, people want FUN, people want EXCITEMENT. The old grind, the forced-grouping, the forced-tasking (many call it questing but today developers make tasks and not quests) or even forced-guilding (zerg-raiding) are not viable features. It is not a matter of copying EQ to create a game. You learn from EQ, as WoW did. I think developers need to learn but not copy WoW.
I think the original poster should be banned from the forums. There's nothing wrong with the old tradition of blaming the messenger. It really doesn't help to read all the posts about how wonderful a delay is because the game will be better, more polished, yadda yadda. There haven't been any decent releases lately, and although many of you are dying to play AoC, I don't have high hopes for that title (possibly a console gamers delight, but maybe it won't be, we'll see).
So, with WAR delayed that means nothing really good on the horizon anytime soon, unless you want to play LOTRO. What the heck, it's a linear game with no real PvP, but at least everyone says it's polished, so you might have to just settle for that.
I feel sorry for WAR now. Its going to have to compete with RO2 when it hits US soil. That game has been in production for a very long time unlike the short time of WAR, and costs around twice as much to produce.
i was never under the impression WAR was going to be released earlier ...
just because the video game stores want you to reserve a copy .. and tell you some BS story that it will be released in 2007 ... doesnt mean its true ...

We shall see.
In one paragraph(or less) tell me what makes WAR's PvP better than Any of the games out there right now(read: wow), GO!
PvP in WAR actually has some meaning... lol
PvP in WoW in the other hand is just a meaningless feature... it is just there...
Good News, imo.
Having this game and AOC come out 2 days apart woulda forced myself, and quite a few others I imagine in a bit of a bind.
Now, there's ample spacing to properly test drive each product.
