Very cool MMO idea !! come look ^_^

One thing i think makes a game good is when u need to collect stuff. I was playing a castlevania game on gba and it was very fun because when u killed the monsters u have a chance of getting a new skill of them. I was thinking about a card mmo where u would start the game and u wouldn't choose a class, u would have to choose a deck, mayby like a magic, fighter or healer deck. It would be like guild wars with the 8 skill slots at the bottom of the screen. When your out of the town 8 cards randomly get put into your hand (the 8 skill slots) and when u see a monster you can go attack it with your sword or staff, then if you want to use a card in your hand just press the number of that card u wana use, like guild was skills. When u kill a monster u have a chance to get a skill card from it and the higher level you get the monsters take longer to drop the cards.

When you use a card it gets put into your graveyard and replaced with a new card from your deck. If you are low on health and you have a healing card in you hand you can use that. When u run out of cards you can still attack with your sword or staff but you wont be able to heal, so you should go back to town and reset you deck. and when your in the town you can edit your deck with the new cards you found from the monsters. it would be cool seeing everyone trading all their rare cards in the town. and there would be lots of quest npcs who would want you to trade a rare card for a card they want then you have to go find it.

Also there would be lots of monsters because if there was only 1 type of monster that a certain level could kill that means everyone would have the same cards, like at level 10 there would be around 4 places they could go train. The armor in the game would be the thing that would make you a diferent class like if you bought fighter armor the fighter cards would be more powerful, if u had mage robes on cards like fireball would be powerful, same for healer. You could change your armor any time to be a diferent class too, you could also wear diferent class armor like warrior body and healer pants, that would make you ok at healing and fighting but not that good.

In pvp i think people would spam the cards so to fix that  when you use cards you dont get new ones in your hand for about 1 minute so you should use them carefully. Some cards you could find are healing ones, ones that summon a monster with a sertain amount of hp, buff cards that last a few minutes, curse cards, fighting cards like power thrust or something like that. i was thinking about how higher level people would give noobs strong cards, so mayby the cards cost a certain ammout of points to use and when you level up u get more points, the higher level cards would cost alot more points than noob ones. the healing cards wouldn't cost very much too.

Also there would be rare monster that spawn in some areas and boss monster that drop very rare cards. there would be legendary monster that warp around the world and if your lucky u might get to fight it one day too. a day and night system would be good too so some monsters would spawn at night so if u wanted a cool card for your deck u go hunt at night. Also in your menu you have a monster list so if you have seen a monster it will show in the list where it spawns, and if its a day or night monster.

There would be dungeon raids too and when u kill the boss you might get a shiny card that is very rare. i think you can only have 4 shiny cards in you deck. some other cards would have a limit to how many u can hold in the deck too so u cant just go hunt the same monster for the same powerful card and fill you deck with them.

You know how in some pvp mmos people try to copy the most powerful builds, well now they might be able to copy the decks but when your in battle the cards go in your hand randomly so you wont be able to spam the same powerful skills over and over. and it will take ages to find the cards for the build anyway.

Tell me what you think    add some more stuff to it if you want.

    For starters I think basing a game around collecting any kind of items is a stupid idea. That's my opinion of course.

    Secondly it sounds like you are basically describing Guild Wars with cards, why not just play Guild Wars?

    Third of all having a MMORPG where you have no control over your build would be so difficult to balance it's not even worth it.

    Either they make every skill relatively similar or you have the problem where people end up with a skill set that is useless half the time. Can you imagine going into pvp and having you healer come out without a healing skill.

    you can edit you deck in the town, that means u do have control over your build. and i think everyone would have some healing cards in their deck but the healing class would have more of them and their armor would make the healing cards heal more also the buff cards would work well with the healing armor.

    Maybe you don't understand me, either way I'm not explaining it again.

    The only way this could work is if you pull your cards from seperate decks (1 deck for each skill class), so you were always guarenteed a healing skill but even then it would be so random and so difficult to balance it doesn't seem like it's worth it.
