Speculation would not be permissible in a legitimate debate - it makes you seem desperate to validate your belief that SWG is doomed.

Prove that its not, or be silent.

There are many types of people that post in the vet's forum

    - Those that want their game back

    - Those that wander by and want to share some memories or ask some questions

    - Those that post completly assine things just to stir up controversy and get a conversation going.  I donno maybe they don't have any friends or family they can have conversations with?

My guess is that the vast majority are #'s 1 and 2.

proves nothing. you should do some research. back when this first happened post-nge many people pinged the servers...heavy means  100 now instead of 400+. to say one of the top 3 servers only has 100 players now is proof this game is in the toilet.

show me some screenies of a massive pvp war at this restus. heavy should therefore mean there is 50+ people there.

Dvol  you are a  liar dude. Saying I promote SOE games, saying I wrote that VG did not "need anything," etc. Do you have any ability for independent thought or do you just enjoy spouting clichés and parroting others? Why even post? And Opinion is not a lie look it up..Its not a fact its a point of view, you may disagree with it but it is what it is..Um you promoted Vanguard as the next Precu did you not? Do i really need to link the post? Then you recanted all those wonderfull positive things after you defended it so wonderfully did you not?..

Um parroting...LOL if i had agreed with you then id be just rosey in your eyes..Hard to find many that agree with you at all..And i did agree with you on one part of your post..That CU3 needs to come and come fast so 1 outa 10 things is something isnt it?..Say what you will but when you think about it the games the same bugged missmanaged mess it has been since beta.

Yeah its ok i forgive you...I cant wait for your NGE apology post like your Vanguard one..Dude its a game so what if i dont like it and you do..If you cant get over the fact i dont share your rosey view then by all means go play it and join the offical forums..That way you can post with those 30 others that share your view..All im saying is no game is a great as you make it out..

Even Precu was a mess, difference is i had fun then had tons of friends and learned to work around the bugs..So i dont like the Dumbed down NGE..Heck not many do so what..Just log in to the current forum were you wont get debated..I dont like it cause of the Combat and GUI to me its horrid and one of the better parts of PRECU..But im no longer willing to settle for a pay to play beta..I have allmost 4 years under my belt of that..big deal

Shayde Dude, I wish I could meet you in person so I could check out how you carry yourself. You don't have the ability to debate without emotion and certainly are nothing approaching an objective observer. And that's all you are bro - an OBSERVER, since you can't know too much about SWG these days (after all, you don't play it anymore).

Hell, people in real life can get over the death of a loved one faster than you geeks can get over changes in a computer game.

Im over the game except the fact that i miss it..woopidy doo i play other games and forum pvp with the likes of you who cant debate the good and the bad..currently to me its all bad to you its really wonderfull..Which is fine i dont really care its just very entertaining..Its E-words does it hurt your E-feelings that not many share your Jaded views?Um many share mine and i do disagree with some but wait im a parrot....Polly wants a new game....

There are three kinds of players in SWG's history:

    * The vast majority of former players (who have quit throughout all it's stages) who don't give a rats ass about it at all anymore (you know, the kind of regular people who have not even THOUGHT about this video game in years). Um i only like to laugh at all the post like yours and debate your overly wonderfull bug free populated NGE..Hmm wonder why its the vet forum jeez its for former vets..Like you dont have your Rosey current forum were you and your 9 other current players can post ..

    * The guys who hang in this "refuge" crying about their "loss" (lol... nerds).Pot kettle?? Um or crying at others cause they dont share your rose colored glass view of things? And you spending countless hours in a game and a gaming forum doesnt make you a nerd either huh? Yeah the games gone but not the fact it was better than what your paying to play now..WoW i like yah i havent laughed this hard in a long time..Thanks dude!!

    * The folks who play SWG.

I would wager that the number of players enjoying this online Star Wars game FAR outnumbers the guys who live in this refuge every day with their hate.WEll survey says LOL....Why must everyone that dont like the NGE be haters, cant they just be players who dont like complete crap..Hey not everyone agrees..

I really enjoyed playing SWG, and I don't dwell on it too much, but I do miss the game. Hopefully, if and when the Emu is finished we can get our game back. As for now though, and for the immeadiate future I will keep playing EVE, because I am tired of all the Fantasy MMO clones (this includes WOW).

But here are my comments, even though I feel like I am beating a dead horse.

    To all the NGE players:

I think it's a safe bet that the majority of us here on this forum, feel that the game is dead. I just don't know how to put it in any simpler terms. And if that weren't enough, we don't like the gameplay the game gives us now.

The CU didn't bother me that bad, but the aspects of the game that I loved and enjoyed were destroyed by the NGE, specifically the merging of all the diverse professions into the condensed nine. I truly enjoyed the capability to create a "jack-of-all-trades" type of character without any restrictions (except for points).

I have seen how the devs have tried to replicate this with their "45" points system, but it is flawed at best. I think that having to learn one skill more than once to get a better one is rather rediculous. In the old system, once you had gained enough XP, the skill was pretty much yours, and to advance up a tree, all you had to do was gain the XP.

I can remember somewhere in this thread a mention of D&D being a level-based game, and that is true. However, everyone copies that model, and I think we can all agree that the lack of diversity is boring, right?

And that is what made SWG so interesting to me and alot of other people, it was different, and not just to be different, but different in a good-way.

Also, the combat system in it's current form is retarded. Although to be honest, I never liked the combat system in SWG to begin with. The notion that I can hit someone, but then have to wait 2.3 seconds before I can hit them again is just silly to me. It's a fast-paced turn-based system in a package with a different name. I think hitpoints are stupid also. If it shoot someone in the head with a large-enough calliber bullet, or hard-enough with a blunt object, they die. They don't loose X number of hit-points. My point here is REALISM! Anyway, I am getting off-track.

The population numbers that have been researched here by others, (I logged into, and I concur the population is almost non-existant. No, I am not going to post screen-shots, the point is moot) proves in my mind that the game is dying.

All in all, like I said earlier if you like SWG in it's current form then by all means, have fun. As for me, unless they change the combat, movement, and skill systems, I just can't have fun in this game.

    Wow.

I really don't know how to respond. Your overgeneralizations and complete imaginary construct of me must be just so complete, yet totally inaccurate, that it gives you such a feeling of self richeousness. But hey, whatever gives you reason to get up in the morning is fine with me.

Debate without emotion? Well, I'm not bringing any emotion to this. Of course, I'd say your debating skills are what is lacking, since you haven't brought one fact to the table and you only "win" by debasing your opponents.

As for being "only an observer".. I've been back for 3 separate vet trials before the housing scam one. I've tried out every class except crafting and Jedi. The server was EMPTY. I even /who and get barely anyone. NO people on Danthomir. 3 on Corellia. That's during PRIME. I've been on EMU tests more populated. I also have close friends who won't give up on the game and constantly complain there's nobody to interact with. .. hell, my senator friend plays WoW more than SWG.

Population aside, they've taken out the best parts of the game. You can't argue that. You tried, but then you wanted to check out my ass when I walk. "Carry myself". I know how it is.

I'll admit that the game has improved, but ONLY since the nge was pushed. That's when it went back to alpha and hit rock bottom. It couldn't get any worse after the nge, so by that standard, it has improved ever so slightly.

But is it anywhere near a good game? No. Smed said so himself. Will it ever get near good? No. Not with the cutback design team and the fact that the game will not have enough time. They already have too few players and too much age on the game.

What everyone here fails to realize is that swg was not that great of a game from the beginning, and it has always been plagued with bugs.

The only reason why I play on and off is because Im a Star Wars fan, and if I wasnt I wouldnt even play the game at all. But I must say that the new deve team is doing a much better job at communication and making challenging complex game systems like Beast Master and making MOB AI smarter and harder hitting.

They're sticking half-assed versions of removed content on top of the horrible core game.  Sadly, there are people who think this is a wonderful development.  It takes all kinds, I guess.  If there weren't so many people with extremely low standards, SOE wouldn't be able to remain in business.

Yes, a few people enjoy it.

And as far as the camps? NEW AND IMPROVED, now removing all those pesky Rangers. Complete with a new painting that says "F-YOU, you thought it was FUN???".

Oh yeah. They're bringing stuff back as a shadow of its former glory in a game system that sucks balls.

Blix is an idiot. Yes, he's the lead designer of SWG (minus 90% of it's peak player base). He will NEVER be trusted with that again. He should have declined that promotion and stuck to being a grunt Dev.

There were in fact over 30 professions , not simply "over 20" as you stated. (I've played SWG since 2003, by the way)

There are currently 13 professions (4 crafting professions). In a couple weeks there will be 2 more added (Beast Master & Droid Commander) plus another melee class in discussion (a mix of Teras Kasi and Swordsman). That will make it a total of 16 classes in the current state of SWG. Of course, more are sure to follow.

    "ZOMG they gave us a 10th class!!1!!111!!!"

Really man, who talks like that?
