100% PvP, not for me

in Fury

Tried this game today but was pretty disappointed that it is 100% PvP. The PVP was scarily frantic though, like an FPS. I just don't see the fun in that... Feels like a fantasy 3rd person FPS but without guns. I tried a game of capture the flag [capture the crystal]. Meh...

I was entirely impressed with the graphics and art direction of the game though, and it also had some VERY commendable animations (like running at an angle while turning). Too bad it just isn't for me :-/

    Yeah totally, I'd much rather spend my extra free time grinding the same mob repetitively with no challenge except for multitasking my repetitious character while I stuff my obese face. I can't see how a game that places true intelligence versus predictable AI could be fun!

     Amen brother.  Other players offer the only true challenge in games these days.  Otherwise you are just falling into the carebear trap where MMOs make every player feel like they are the best and only best player.

    Shame that it's not really for you. From what you describe, though, it seems like a lot of fun for those of us that love PvP.

    Yeah. It felt like guild wars but with no PvE content to explore (a lobby type space where people group, upgrade weapons/spells etc), just a few FPS type PVP things to do.

    I love MMOs because of their vast worlds of content to explore, yeah some of it is the same old crap, but if it means exploring a new world, then that's what matters to me. and Fury just doesn't have it.

    But yeah, for those that crave PvP, this is definitely for them. What's there seems good and has excellent graphics/animations. I mean, it's not like it looks like a bad game by any means, just not for me.

    Hmm...assuming that other gamers have any sort of true intelligence seems like a big stretch to me....  I've seen NPC's with more

    Do not run to fast ... you may get stuck ... in the DOORJAM.

                                                 DOORJAMMERS = PvP.

    Skills needed to be a DOORJAMMER, Stealth so all five of you can stick the solo Carebear in the Back  and not last but Speed pots so you can run to the nearest doorway.

     Skills needed to be a Carebear ....Not stealth and Speed pots that is for sure.

    ever notice where Carebears are.... Not hanging about the doorway  like the PvP doorjammers.

    Skill my ass. the only skill a PvPer has is holding up a doorjam. check your boots Hero because thay are full.

     i have NO respect for PvP at all.. and you can thank the ones that are giving the PvPers the Bad name.

    Don't feel bad. I know alot of people that don't like 24/7 PVP including myself. I like pvp but i like to have the option of just exploring the game without having to worry about getting ganked sometimes. And I agree with an early post  ganking does not require skill. Its very easy to roll a toon with stealth capabilities and wait till a toon who is 30 lvls lower than you to pass by so that you can kill them.  I think killing is ok but don't pick on people 40 lvls lower than you thats just wrong.

    You may want to go back and take a better look at Fury then. It's not the sort of game that really has ganking in the way you described it. It's competitive PvP, with match-making of opponents to prevent big skill mismatches from occurring.

    cos wat kinda noob dosnt like pvp, thers no point in playin thru pve or campains n stuf mor than once (just to lern the controls, or unles its a supposedly good campain worth playin, like half-life.. i ges, & evn then once is enuf)

    Fury is a PvP only game, and is designed to appeal to PvP players. It isn't going to be everyones bag, but that isn't what was intended in the design.



    We don't want to sacrifice focus by trying to cover too many demographics. Instead; work on one, and do it well.

    I actually might try this game.



    I was wondering at one point, if a person only likes pvp and that's what they want to do, why there are so many mmo's that force players to PvE.



    Let's take Lineage 2. There is a huge Pve grind component just so you can pvp. And it is pretty much the same at lower lvls as well as higher lvls.



    So, if you are primarily a pvp player, you are going to go nuts with the grind when all you want to do is pvp.



    Though I also wonder if some pvp players will not like this game because it seems more like Guild Wars in that you have specific matches and not so much hunting for enemy tags and ganking them. (which really isn't my thing).

      Actually, I don't see anyone whining a all. Just some people indicating they tried the game but it wasn't for them because they like exploring vast worlds, etc.



    They do seem to indicate that for people who prefer pvp this game might have what they are looking for as the fighting seems well done.

    Fury is definately aiming for competitive and balanced PvP, primarily. As such it appeals to a demographic not just of MMO players, but also a lot other groups, such as FPS players.
