Homeless Gamer

There is nothing worse than being a hardcore gamer...without a game.

I have a month till my next semester and even then Ill be having a rather large amount of free time. So I need something to do 60 - 90 hours a week... so I dont go mad.

I have played pretty much everything. UO, AC, EQ, EQ2, DAOC, E&B, EvE, Simsonline (shudders), DDO, WoW, Auto Assault, CoH, Vanguard, Guild Wars, RF Online, Archlord, Shadowbane...

UO, AC, and DAOC were my favorites. I prefer skill systems to level systems... but there just arent any more... I LOOOVE PvP, but I prefer it on a smaller scale where solo's duo's and trio's are functional... thats the main reason I left DAOC, it stopped being about small scale pvp, and started being about how many people you can get on one target, and how much dmg you can do before your target dies, so you get the most points. I'm not a big fan of me and 50 of my closest friends pvp. I dont mind it from time to time... but I prefer being able to solo.

I just recently left wow For EQ2, mainly as Im not a big fan of raiding, and the pvp was lack luster, and 85% gear based, but after about 60 hours this week... the EQ2 pvp server is starting to lose its glory, as the economy is totally screwed (level 12 items are 4x the price of level 20 - 30 items), and pvp here seems to be 12 level 17's camping solos in a level 13 zone...

So ... since Im bored out of my mind, and searching around this site, 50 game forums, and hoping to find something that holds my interest figured Id ask the community see if anyone can recommend some interesting games, or aspects of games that I might be missing.

HELP ME!

Sound like the norm where ever you go.

Nah, just with some of the newer games.

DAOC, UO, AC, very little lowbie ganking does it happen? Sure... is it the norm? No. Is it what 70% of the community is doing? No.

In DAOC the only place thats possible is on mordred, and its not worth the higher level's time.

In UO... there are no levels and you can run just as well as he can.

In AC, a level 90 has a chance against a level 120 so not as bad.

There are games that do pvp BAD... sadly... those games atm are the mainsteam

Unfortunately, game developers are catering to the majority crowd now, which.. thanks to WoW is the PvE crowd.

PvP is a niche factor in games now.  Developers could easily make a game for PvPers which would be a game with maybe a dozen or so servers, and each server would have their own smaller tightly knit communities.

Unfortunately, that won't make all that much money.. It will make a profit, but companies don't seem to care about profit so much as hitting it big and making the BIG bucks.

This is a text-book description of Lineage II. L2 has PvP on both small scale, 1 on 1 or Party vs. Party and on the larger scale with all out alliance wars and castle seiges. The great thing about L2 though is you can pick and choose the level of PvP you want. If you don't want the larger scale PvP just don't go there. Also in this game a lot of PvP just sort of happens which gives it a level of danger that keeps you looking over your shoulder. If all your looking for is PvP L2 is the game you want as all levels of PvP are present and quite fun to do. L2 does have its issues though but I'll just tell you to check out the L2 forum to see what those are.

Well... Im not just looking for pvp... I need pvp for a reason.

DAOC is awesome, cause you get realm points etc... but after a while its just killing for points... over and over. I played on mordred back in the day, and some of my favorite times were "Claiming" a dungeon and fighting over it. It got to the point where if you used the dungeon you knew who I was.

Sadly, the game changed, the combat is now centered around a town, and its can you get a kill off before that 3 man rips you to pieces.

I have tried EvE several times... only thing that turns me off there is the major downtime per death. A good ship takes 2 - 3 days to replace... but it is one of the better options.

Only thing I didnt like about L2 other than the massive grind and botters, was the click to move...

Hey there! I'm also in your position except for the fact that I just got my first experience of Everquest 2 a few days ago and I quit DAOC when I reached about level 20 yeaaars ago when there was only one expansion when I was a kid.

I've been thinking of starting a new character on WoW and perma-partying with somebody.. but even more then that I would like to find a new game.

I have a trial key for COH/COV and videos of its PVP and gameplay look AWESOME. Only reason I haven't tried out COH/COV is because I can't find a download for it. I would like to start whatever game you do though because you seem to have the same likings as me, please contact me on aim @ Deliberate Fall

    Cya bro!

Go to your PlayNC account and click add game. Put your trial key in. It should say game added. Then go back to your main account page, click on the "Information" button on the CoH trial you put in, and it should give you a link to their direct download.

I do not see where you get all this freetime bro but my suggestion is play single player games and maybe an mmorpg on the side and find something else to do, maybe take up a sport I dont know but I do know that you cannot spend all of your time playing games its just not healthy and that is why your bored your doing the same thing for that many hours a week. You will always be bored no matter how many mmorpgs come out this year if you keep this up.
