in Lord of the Rings Online
Still waiting for my copy of the Special Edition to arrive. Not the end of the world by any means; but Im curious if that means I wont be getting the special pre-order items on my characters because the characters I had leveled up to this point are now wiped, and if I do register my SE next week if I still get the "hope" item? Didnt see any answers to these questions on the official forums, though honestly I find those forums to be a bit of a mess to read (hope they streamline them in future). Thanks for your input ;-)

    You're characters aren't wiped, they're still there for you

    If you activated the pre-order code you received (or should have received) from your retailer, all you do is add the retail product key and all pre-order benefits and characters are transferred to the new key. If you didn't enter a pre-order key, I believe you're out of luck. The pre-order keys and product keys are two entirely separate things; if you ordered the pre-order copy of the game from a store or online, they should have provided you with the pre-order code at that time.

    I just went through this because eb games sent me an open beta key instead of pre-order key. After contacting Turbine i was told that we have up to 30 days after launch to keep your beta charcters. I was able to track down a pre-order key at another store.
