Not to dissuade anyone, but given that at least one of their community people posts here, is it really that good of an idea to make a huge thread shouting, "Hey, we're a fake guild just trying to get into beta!!!"?

Not to take a jab at you or anything, but if you take a look at the guildcafe guild page you'll notice that we're trying NOT to be just a fake guild. Trust me, we're legitimate and the guild is started to shape up as we speak. Overnight we've already got active members, two guild officers (Including Myself) has been appointed. So why not stop on by and you'll see that we're not just a fake guild trying to get into beta, but rather a brand new guild making it's way.
Keep in mind, that even if the guild gets invited it's not a free ticket for everyone who's signed up. They are only going to give us a certain amount of invites. In time we'll weed out those who've signed up and never visit the page or bother to even say hello in the forums. I'm pretty sure that WAR will be checking out each guild that sends over an app, and they'll see we're not at all a sham guild. Why not stop on by and check it yourself?

Mythic very much is going over in depth each guild that submits an application. You can actually view the stuff they want from the guild in the application. They require a website, number of members in a size range, what type of guild you are ( type and playstyle), and what kind of time commitment your guild usually plays.
Established guilds will probably have a much better chance at getting in since they have been around for a while and have the ability to provide a better sense of what that guild is about.
A few other things to keep in mind about this whole process:
Every field on this form must be filled out. Any blank sections will result in the application being deleted. There are no "wrong" answers. Please answer with your guild as a whole in mind.
This is a beta test, not a preview. Participating guilds are expected to submit bugs, and feedback reports are due on a weekly basis. Two officers from each guild will be invited to join an internal message board, and participation in message board discussions will be mandatory. Please do not apply if you will be unable to participate at this level. Should a selected guild not submit the required feedback, the guild will be removed.
The Guild Beta is being jointly administered by EA Mythic and GOA. European guilds will play on GOA servers, and as foreign language servers are opened, guilds speaking those languages will be transferred.
The agreement of an NDA (non-disclosure agreement) is required of all participants. Testers must be 18 and over. All participants must abide by a code of conduct. Should an individual violate this code, the guild to which that player belongs will be removed from the beta test.
This part here is a "big" one.
Please be aware that not all who apply will be able to join the test as we anticipate a huge number of applicants. For the same reason, large guilds are unlikely to receive enough beta slots for all members.
Also keep in mind that anyone in the NDA portion of a beta test is required to be 18+. These are just some things to keep in mind when applying and accepting members. These beta slots are NOT like the Beta slots from the Vanguard open beta, the Lord of the Rings Online World Tour or any of the other open betas that have happened over the past year or so. You won't be going into WAR to play it. You won't be playing a character that will go to the Live Servers. You will be wiped, you more than likely will be playing something for a race you don't plan to play in the retail game. Sometimes it won't be fun. You will be responsible if you make it into WAR's guild beta. One member can cost the entire guild their beta slots.
I just want to urge you to keep these things in mind. We all want to play. But this isn't the point in time at which you will get to really play the game.

We're aware of everything you've posted above, and I even cover it in my post. I'm also quite aware of what a beta-test entails and have been in one before. Again, if you had read my post, you'd see that we are taking steps to establish ourselves and we are not just a name on the list. I'd like you to keep in mind as well that just because they will be mostly looking for older, established guilds doesn't mean that their won't be a place for a newly formed guild in the WAR beta. There's a reason we are starting and establishing things now. It's only been 24 hours since the guild has come into fruition. Give us time, we'll weed out the bad ones, and we'll build ourselves up. We have every ounce of confidence that we'll make it.
It's a bit low to automatically assume that we're just a bunch of names on a list and trying to fake our way in. I've read the guild application and process quite extensively and know what is needed. Making random assumptions gets you and me nowhere, if you've got actual problems or concerns, feel free to make a post on our forums or send me off a PM. Thanks!
I wasn't directing it at you, I was directing at the general populous. I'd be more than willing to bet a good number of people haven't read the Guild Beta application. I'd bet that quite a few people are going in thinking it will be a beta like what LOTRO just had in their world tour. A post on a thread is rarely directed at the OP 9 pages in unless the OP is directly quoted. I did quote you, not to argue with your statements, but more as to get people to see what exactly it is they are signing up for.
I just want people to be aware of what exactly it is they are getting into by joining a guild trying to get into the Guild Beta. I also don't want them to be a liability that does get into a guild beta by breaking the NDA and costing every single person in said guild their slot. How many of the members you have now have actually read and posted on your forums? There are a lot of people that see the words Beta Test and anything resembling the ability to have a chance they begin to salivate and just sign up not know just what it is they are getting into.
In an earlier post, you would see that I did wish you guys luck. I'm not rooting against you. Quite the opposite in fact. The more people that get in and take the beta test seriously, the better the end product will be. Sure, I want my guild to get in. But if Mythic feels there is a better guild than mine and decides to give them the beta slots over my guild, I have no problems with that. I just want WAR to be the game we all imagine it to be. The more successful the beta test is, the more likely that is to happen.

Sorry about that, it seemed directed at me, as you had quoted my post. We understand this, and we're going to let those in the guild understand this as well. Everyone who "Signs-up" are not going to get a beta slot. That's not the intention in the least. This is kind of a hook to get us noticed and get members into the guild, once there we'll be able to see who's there willing to contribute and post on the forums. As time goes by, and we still have quite a bit of it, we'll be able to weed out those that choose not to participate. Let's face it, even in old established guilds, there are always people who could ruin the fun. Liabilities will happen, you could have the oldest group of gaming buddies together, but it only takes one slip-up to mess it up for the rest of us. We'll try to avoid it, and we're doing that by getting the members to get to know each other.
We know the majority won't check the forums, and won't participate, but at the rate it's growing, even if we have a low retention rate of members who stick around, we'll still end up with a fairly sizeable guild of people wanting to help, and who know each other. We've got time to shape things up and purge our list of those who are just names on a board. Hopefully Mythic will see that, and see how serious we are about this. We're just using this oppurtunity as a springboard. Our guild leader seems to have quite a bit of Guild Mastering experience and I for one am more than confident of his abilities to manage. I and the other officer as well will be doing our best to get this out of it's infancy and into the race.
I didn't realize there were so many WoW clones...seeing WoW was the first MMO ever made..oh wait, wasn't there something before WoW, another MMO or 2 or 3 or ....
