Been playing a week now and..

GASP.. I can't find anything to speak negatively about.

This game boggles my mind. I can understand and therefore explore only about 1/10th of everything this game has to offer and just on that 1/10th this is the most fun I've had in an online game, pfft any game in years. Im totally addicted in only a week.

Im like looking for something its missing and I just can't find it, it has EVERYTHING, and its done incredibly well.

What really blows my mind is that this world is huge with millions of things all around you, up down left right, everywhere you look the world is packed with life, and zero yup no none zero lag..  here I am playing from Florida on a sever located in the heart of China, and it pulling a smooth 166ms ping with zero lag and 65fps..

All I can say is US game developers better get their heads outta their butts like yesterday, as soon as this game drops an english version nobody is going to be playing anything else.

It's scary, when I compare this to any of our games, established, newly released, or even in late development. Our games all suck by comparison, even makes the new WoW expansion look old and tired.

I absolutely agree, and that is the main reason why I want to get this game known to the english gaming community... ! All we can hope is that it will come to us as soon as possible :D

    Kind regards,

But the closed Beta is starting soon, so I suggest to sign up in our forum to grab a chance to come into open beta. By looking at the videos, and reading faqs and all, i went under the impression that it would be a game to blow WoW out of the scene finaly...

And that was before i realized the game is F2P... That means not only that it WILL surely blow WoW out of the scene, but also, set a new standard to online games, and finaly rid the western gaming community from the stigma of "Asian" games being workload grind fests...

Definitely. More Western game developers should take this game as example. It's just a shame that the game is still not known in the US community (i'm already in a crusade to tell as many ppl as possible about PW ) Personally, I can't wait anymore for eng version to come out! Hope to see you all soon in-game!

I'm interested in Perfect World, its graphics looks nice, and... Well, i dont know a lot about this game, but i suppose it's another grind/xp/loot/farming game, like almost every other mmorpg. However, travelling over nice areas and doing some nice combat moves, for example... It's probably enough for any mmorpg you play for the simple purpose of spending some time having some fun...

That said, i wanted to reply to this guy over me, the guy i'm quoting...

Well... Item shop games where real money makes you uber....
Or.... subscription games where real monthly fee and months of /played time wasted into farming makes you uber.

Is there really a difference ? Beside the fact item shop games you're not exactly forced to pay to play (and have fun) ?

Stay away from item shop games.... I disagree.
Stay away from "uber-l33t players with zero social skills", i agree.

Look a little more and you'll both find that the item shop does NOT sell better weapons or armor. The closest thing they have is crafting materials, which could be used to make better weps and armor, but only by someone who has invested the time to build up their crafting skill.

REALLY can't wait for this game. Hope the Phillipines won't block foreign IPs. It's really a shame that this game doesn't have more publicity. So many people are still gonna be slaving away at Pay2Play MMOs that aern't even as good, pour souls

From what my friends tell me is that this is a totally free game.  Well that is if you are playing one of the winged classes.  Once you get to level 40+ there is a quest that requires you to fly to a floating city.  But  other than that it's free.  All the item shop offers are mounts both flying and land running and clothes.  All which are more status items.  You can only buy certain mounts and clothes at certain levels.

I'm dying here.  Whilst all my friends are playing on the China and Taiwan servers I still waiting for the english version.

you don't need to buy flying mounts from item malls to fly. if you play either human or beast race you will get a quest for a flying mount/sword once you reach lvl 30. all flying gear except for wings is only for lvl 30+. the better/faster flying mounts/wings can only be bought in the item mall. But the item mall will be necessary later on in the game.

Necessary for what? 'Cause it sucks to be forced to buy stuff...
  • AckbarAckbar Member UncommonPosts: 927
Seems like the one thing this game might be missing is a subscription based payment model? Im not down with forced micropayments to continue enjoying a very addictive game. Id just have to outright never play it in the first place. I might find myself going through a walkthrough on how to join the chinese/taiwan versions though to check it out.

    ----ITS A TRAP!!!----

  • bumbaykerbumbayker Member UncommonPosts: 37
    @darkradu

Too bad then if you think that way. You're not forced to buy anything from the item mall/shop but its necessary if you want to play competitively. You can go through the entire game without buying anything from the mall. But players who buy from the it will definitely have an edge over those who don't. Certain items are only available from the item shop and you'd probably want to buy some items just to make it more convenient. it's free to play but its not free to play easily.

I dont know everything about the game but I did try the chinese version for a bit... If I knew more im sure I'd find it has flaws I could list off like any MMO...

I mean... I don't know how you guys playing the versions not being able to read it can talk about how it has everything (OP) ... Hows the pvp? is there player housing? hows the crafting? How is the bot prevention compared to most asian F2P MMO's???

And when I played it... I noticed it can be either click to move or WASD which is good... although they didn't seem to refine it very well... the click to move is DEF not the best click to move ive used and I dont like click to move to begin with. For example Silkroad has better click to move.

The WASD controls (which suffice for being better than click to move no matter how good of click to move it is) are kinda touchy and don't work completely smooth... the best WASD controls ive used are WoW and SWG and this doesnt really compare... it's not a game killer... just annoying.

Hows the questing? Any good? Cause I couldnt do much of it... lol... gonna have to wait for english to know that one too.

I'm just saying its WAAAAAAY too early to say this game has everything. Let them get it all translated and on an english server open to the public and then we'll see exactly what it has.

Edit: Oh and one more thing. The races are nearly a game killer for me.

If I don't want to be a human I either have to be a goofy anime looking fairy or an 'animal person' ... I want a little more variety... something cool to be. At least the customization for the small choice of races is pretty decent.

I love item mall games and in game ads unless it effects my game play (dungeon runners no bank)

If the game is free it starts at 6 rating for me ...with free games I could probably play a couple mmos casually and not get tired of them so fast.

What i don't like are grind fest pointless games with no or a static end game(pve)

I have not seen anything about this game and i'm sure ill try it out but I haven't seen a good chinese game yet

    Own, Mine, Defend, Attack, 24/7

But I thought you only had cosmetic options or faster mounts in there...I hope there won't be uber gear or potions...

Taken from the Perfect World wiki FAQ:

    I hear this game is F2P !?

    - Yes it is, however there is a kind of an "Item Mall" where you can buy "no gameplay critical items", like better mounts, fireworks, beautiful social clothing and more... ! But you can't buy any better weapons or armors in this shop (!!)!
    What is this item mall?

    - The item mall is an ingame store where you can buy some non critical items for real money!
What kind of items will be sold in this Item Mall

    - Faster Mounts/flying Swords

    - A specific items for stat reset

    - Tickets to change character appearance

    - Teleport

    - Crafting materials

    - Mass Broadcast

    - Customized Fireworks (with message text)- Formal wear

    - Most of the items in the item mall are consumables!

There's no uber gear in the item mall. But there are items there that would make your playing experience better (like expanding your backpack and storage). There's a special gear from the item mall when your HP or MP goes down to certain amount it will restore it to full but gets depleted the more its used. Like i said you can go thru the entire game without buying but it would be more difficult. In the long run you will want to get some of the items to survive and compete better.

i've been playing for quite a while now in the philippine beta and the quests are a very fast way of leveling up.. rather than grinding.. although the translations needs a little tweaking its a fun game.. and i've heard here that some items in the item malls include a non stackable exp multiplier.. soo.. you'd have faster exp when "if ever" you like to grind..

the thing with item mall is that u do NOT have to buy anything with real cash. There will always be ppl who buy things for real money and sell it for ingame items or money. I played flyff for a while, never bought anything from the item shop, but i still could upgrade my items with things from the item shop, coz i could buy those items for ingame cash ;)  In the beginning, u do not need anything from the item mall and when u get ur char better, then u can just buy those items with ingame items or money.. Works for me :D

In the item mall there do have weapons you can purchase once you get to the required level.  They are quite cheap but last for 14 days only.  Well this is from the Taiwan and China servers.   A friend of mine has just brought a pair of guide books.  They explain the various weapons/armor/equipment each character has and all the different quests info.  Quest info include at what lvl it is available, general description, rewards in gold exp and skill points plus any bonus equipment.  As includes Character and Attribute descriptions as well as ideal stat guide for "beginners".  The only problem about these two guide books is that it is 300+ pages each and only provide info for up to level 100.  Can you even imagine the depth and amount of detail in this game.

Cannot bear it any longer.  When is English version going to be online???

  • bumbaykerbumbayker Member UncommonPosts: 37
I've been playing the first english PW here in the philippines for almost 2 weeks now. Though some of the translation is kinda weird and some instance quests are not yet enabled its still very playable. Quests which I had absolutely no idea what to do in the chinese and japanese versions I could now accomplish.

The story and quests are quite deep and you don't always have to kill monsters to complete a quest. You have to complete your cultivation/enlightenment quests if you want to get new skills. Not only that improving skills are not automatic when you level up. You have to buy the next skill level with money and soul points and when you reach the required level.

how do we do it? Either we have friends in the server who understand the language or experienced the game long enough that they can comprehend the mechanics of the game and quests. For me I understand a little nihongo and just simply match names with the quests (usually in gold font). It worked for a while but later on some quests were impossible unless you truly understand it or have someone tell you what to do.

As for the malaysian english CBT just hope it will be released this july as the publishers targeted and you get selected to play.
