Is it worth to return

hallyohallyo Member Posts: 44
Ok so im a old gw vet(had 1st day it came out) but i quit when factions came out. So i was wondering should i come back? I dont want to have to go and buy all the expansions just to hang in pvp wise. Also hearing news about GW2 might as well wait till that comes out

In my opinion, free is worth it... so sure come on back.

I agree. Since you've already payed for it, it won't cost you anything to come back. So what if you don't have the dozen and a half skills from the other two chapters that are actually used in PvP? You've got most of the good ones in just Prophecies.

The only warning that I can offer is that Guild War 2 is expected to be released end of 08.  With the release of GW2, I doubt that all too many will remain on the original.

Beta in late 2008, meaning it won't release til Q1 2009 at the earliest. And for some reason, a lot of GW1 players are upset about GW2 and they may not make the switch. ArenaNet isn't pulling the plug on GW1's servers until the day comes that no one is playing anymore.

Like someone else said, you've already paid for Prophecies, you don't have to "return" you just reinstall and login. It's not like you have to go re-subscribe and all that...

I'm in the exact same situation as OP, and I have to say, It's worth it. Little new stuff here and there makes it a little refreshing.

I'd say that if you plan to come back and pvp you really will need the other chapters, skills like searing flames for elementalist, zealous benediction for monk and other similar skills are so widely used, you'd be able without but you'd be at a disadvantage to other players.

On the subject of guild wars 2 however, it might just be a wise idea to wait it out till then, a fresh start so to speak. There are lots of things in guild wars right now which are causing mayhem in the economy, with the introduction of hard mode it's become possible to solo farm many valuable rare golds, coupled with the falling price of ectos the market is somewhat unstable and it's quite hard to make money at the moment.

Personally I'd recommend you purchase nightfall, as much as i like factions, you'd probably find it easier to slip right into nightfall, plus it's where most of the curently used skills lie i'd say. Keep in mind that there's an expansion due out this year too.
I agree totally, if you would stump up the cash for one more campaign go Nightfall, because pvp skills there you can obtain are more valuable; if your that way inclined. Not to mention, the end areas of Nighfall hold some of the most desirable and expensive weapons in the game. Nightfall armour is better looking, imo. Found myself a Colossus Scimitar which went for 700k couple weeks back.

"Coming back" costs you nothing, that's one of GW's good parts.
