Why I quit DAOC

Im looking to come back, so Im wondering if you guys can abate my fears about the prior reasons I left.

#1 I was a heretic because It fits my play style pretty well, but it seemed to me that all spells were just more powerful versions of each other as I leveled, And it got pretty boring seeing the same combat animations over and over.

#2 Melee Combat is incredibly boring, but i'd like to lvl a tank at some point, largely because of reason 3....

#3 Pvp is HARD. I dont know how ppl have such good reflexes and do so many moves at once when things are always so laggy(im on a t-3 line btw with a great comp) and choppy. also, its mostly l33t 8-mans instead of zergs Ive heard which doesnt give a lazy person like me who doesnt want to use an overly complex offensive system for my character. Would a tank makes things more simple and make it easier to be competitive in PVP?

I actually love the pve, not because of the content which is the same as every other mmo but because the feel of the game, music, animations, and lore are amazing, even if melee combat is abominably slow(at least up to lvl 30 which im at).

Extremism in the defense of Liberty is no vice.

I reccomend playing on the classic server. I recently came back myself a am leveling a character there. You dont have to worry about artifacts and stuff like TOA and the population is descent. You wil have to decide on your own class but right now archers, Maulers, and a couple of others are really popular right now.

I really enjoy my heretic in RvR so maybe you should make new one. it's fun to focus-spell people who aren't on their toes and it's really fun to monster-rezz people also

I have been hardcore thinking of coming back also OP.  All of my chars are on bors, but i wouldnt mind restarting actually.  I am curious in the classic servers...is DF still popular anymore?  I loved that place and in all honestly i wish i could live there because it was the poo when it came out.  If its still pretty active i think i might restarted the old account and play again.

Honestly its not that big of a deal to play on regular servers anymore.  Leveling is easy, my guild runs regular power level session on Devon.  ToA is really not hard anymore, plus you can get artifacts and Master levels through RvR now.  You don't even have to set foot in Atlantis anymore, and its nice having all those extra abilities that come with MLs and Artifacts.

I came back after being gone almost 3 yrs to find that I was so outdated on ToA servers it wasn't worth my time, so I switched over to Classic with some old guildies. It was a great decision.

Classic is awesome. Gareth alone has 1,000+ people a night playing, which isn't counting the other two servers. They are always within the top 5.

Reason being is Classic has brought the fun back into the game. The BGs are always happening, all the dungeons are usually populated.

If you are coming back, go to the classic servers, you won't regret it. Besides, you don't have to get ML's or Arti's!
