Your Favorite Zone

kb4blukb4blu Member UncommonPosts: 717

As we all know there is always a lot of discussion about your favorite game.

What I would like to know is what was or is your favorite zone of all the games you have played.  I know a lot of people don't like zones in a game but if we could put that argument aside for the moment, I think this could be interesting.

Of course I have my favorite.

Mine was in Anarchy Online.  It was the Steps of Madness.  The music set the mood perfectly and you fought some strange mobs.  they were named Childhood fears, nightmares and so on.  To me it showed a great deal of thought and creativeity.

As I said I would be interested in your opinion.

Since Star Wars Galaxies didn't really have 'zones', I'm going to have to say Bestine and the surrounding area.

If you're really just want the name of a zone, I'm going to have to go with the Barrens (specifically, the Crossroads).

    Estate of Unrest in EQ

I too have to agree with Unrest in the original EverQuest as my favorite zone. I spent so much time in that train infestation. Every time I hear the word train, I receive a quick flashback of running into a train from Unrest.

Well as eve is all one big 5000 star system Zone i guess my favourate system is P3-EN. Lots of PvP action there ranging from a lone newbie pirate to a gate camp of say 7-8 experienced PvP pirates camping the warp in point.

EQ had so many great zones it's difficult for me to narrow it down to a single one.  So I'll pick three.  I probably spent the most time in Old Sebilis.  I was most impressed with Kael for its vast size and the Crystal Caverns were probably the most visually stunning zone I've been in.

KAEL DRAKKEL: Home to the Kromrif and Kromzek of Velious. It is here you will find the leader of the storm giants, King Tormax. Adventurers need to prove their dedication to the giants of Kael before they will be allowed to set foot in the city to make use of the city's bankers and vendors.

So many great memories from raiding this zone.

I loved Crystal Caverns.  Killing the geonids and Ry'gorr over and over and over for loots...  I probably spent 80% of my time in that zone.

I'd have to say South Qeynos. Not because anything special was there for any reason, but it was the first zone I was ever in. Not the first zone for EQ, but the first zone for any mmorpg I'd ever set foot in. I remember it being in januaray 2001. yep, well anywhos, I LOVED the music in that city and it brings back so many memories waiting at the docks(with the giant hanging fish) or hanging around the bank/wizard guild...sigh so many memories I tell yah.

Edit: whenever I think of the zones in EQ or any EQ memories in general...it feels like it was a real world I was exploring in..you know walking around in a such...is that because of the nostalgia I'm experiencing from it being my very first mmo?, or is it something more that EQ offered that no other game did. It is such a weird feeling I get when remembering my experiences traveling in that world.

Tigris I know exactly what you mean.   I have never felt a more realistic type world then that of Norrath in EverQuest.  It was big,  hard to travel and certainly dangerous.....as it should have been.

    Castle Mistmoore:  Everquest 1.

I had so much fun there, grinding, camping names, helping with Shaman epics, etc.

I'm sure it wont be as well known as most peoples but...

In SWG, on the planet of Corellia, about 1000 or so meeters from the town of Tyrena, there was this area that had this type of wild swamp. It had these giant luminescent mushrooms, glowing lakes, mist in the air. It was aboslutely amazing. It was as if the developers had for one second actually had an imagination and come up with a little piece of art for people to enjoy.

Anyways, eventually I had built a house not to far away and I would just hang around there when I had some time to blow or I was just talking with poeple online. Some of my best times that I remember.
