Class question

I like to solo for most of my gaming.  What class is better for a loner?

I just got the game tonight on the way to work.  I will install and play in the morning. Any input would be great.

Thanks

I prefer a solo strong char too, and I am currently playing a champion.  I havent got too a high a level yet only 15. But alot of the mobs are melee so with champion you have a decent survivability and DPS is good too.

Captains solo pretty well, I am at 24 so over that I can't tell you.

Minstrels fairly well but become pretty squishy after about 20.

Burglars are decent to probably 20-25 then need some extra muscle.

Champions solo really well because they kill fast but if you get a couple extras your toast.

Hunters also solo well but like Champions get owned if there are more than 2 attackers.

Loremaster I am having a hell of a time soloing and decided to stop with him at 11.

Guardians can just take one hell of a beating but they just don't seem to do enough damage to take on extras.

This is all my personal opinion and based on my play style what I have found to be true for me. It is probably different for others. I prefer the Captain because he has a buddy follow him everywhere. He has decent self heal skills and does decent damage. Not great at anything but basically good at everything.

In America I have bad teeth. If I lived in England my teeth would be perfect.

You stopped too early :) I am lvl 23, have 750 morale and quite poor armor (150ish), but I can solo pretty easily. How, you ask?

At lvl 15 you get a class quest, where you get a trait to "upgrade" your bear pet. With him, and some really class nuke lores coming to you between lvls 15-23 the loremaster becomes pretty effective. I can easily kill mobs up to lvl 27, and elites up to 18-19.

With blue or cyan mobs I have no issues killing up to 3 at the same time (push them to attack the bear), or even 4 of them, but that can be dodgy, thank god for the nice healing spell you get at 20.

All classes can be soloed up to 50, but they need different tactics for sure.

Ah, forgot to say that I now have the "master of the staff" trait active, so with the special staff attack I can inflict up to 150 damage, my best crit was 258 dmg!!

My tactics for single foes: burning embers (30-60 dmg+over time damage) Sign or power: command - slows down their attack rate - Light of the rising dawn (140-160 dmg, dazes them) - at this point they still didn't touch me or my bear :) - another burning embers as they are dazed (30-60 dm), they reach me now - Staff Strike (80-250 dmg) - after this most are almost dead :) - if needed, I use my bear's disrupt armor skill - if still needed I throw another burning embers or Gust of Wind - mob drops dead :)

Just some more info on solo classes here. As a Guardian at level 33, the only issue I run into when fighting two orange (+4 level) mobs at a time is power. Essentially, if they both attack me at the same time, I'm going to run out of power and, therefore, I'm not going to be very effective. If I start with one orange mob and get it to about half of its health, however, I can take another orange add with little difficulty. As was mentioned, we don't do a heck of a lot of damage, but we don't take much damage either. Champions and Guardians are really just two sides of the same coin; one does fast damage but takes quite a bit in return (no blocking, parrying or evading), the other does slower damage but takes little in return (I have 41% damage mitigation and parry/block very frequently). In terms of post-fight downtime, both seem to be about the same to me.

In my experience, Champion is the easiest because it kills the fastest with the least downtime, based on my experience of playing some of the other classes.  For those traits and things where you need to kill 120 orcs, for example, being able to mow through things fast is quite, quite advantageous.  Add to this heavy armor and bows at level 20, and it just gets better.  Champs are vulnerable to unexpected adds, as are most classes, but generally I find this the easiest class to play solo because of the DPS, as well as the relatively simple set of skills you have to master to play it effectively.

Lore-master is actually a great solo class, too, but because it presents a rather original mixture of skills and abilities compared to classes that people might be familiar with from other games, it takes quite a bit longer to learn to play effectively than some other classes.  I find playing my lore-master more challenging than my Champion, but also somewhat more fun because of the increased challenge.  Once you learn how to master the various abilities of the lore-master, it's a remarkably versatile and capable class -- but it isn't intuitive out of the box for most people, which is why I think it's among the least-played classes.

If you want a pure tank class, try a Guardian. He uses a lot of shield moves that deal pretty good damage as well as getting heavy armor passive skill at lvl 15 , really helps him out.

Have fun, and don't be shy to group
