Since I like the novelty idea and also the era I will surely try the game out. No idea if it catches me enough to stay, but it looks interesting.
I will surely try a Spanish Officer, dedicated to hunt Pirates, hehe. Dont ask me why. English is a bit too common and I somehow cant connect French to seafaring. Spain sounds interesting, though I have no connection to Spain. Roleplaying a totally snobbish, arrogant spanish Aristocrate about to "bring order" sounds like a fun role. Guess I will have to fill my language with some semi-Spain idioms until then. ^^

Pirates can steal ANY ship, but can not CREATE the best ships. The people who make the best ships are Spain.
The kicker is that pirates can steal almost any ship! The kicker though is, once you steal a ship your open to attack from anyone so you turn into Han Solo.
Spain is where all the pvp'ers will go. It will be small and potent like a band of Navy S.E.A.L.S
So if Spain r the so called " Navy Seals" who are the SAS or for a more navel feel SBS cause lets face it they are by all rights far superior
it's unlikely that the game will be historically accurate, given we don't actually know what history was like, but rather were told it by people and books that very likely were lying.
and it's also a game, which means there really isn't a need to follow what 'history' we know of...
the problem to me seems to be that of the 4 factions, all seem the same except the pirate faction.
countries all have to play by certain rules, and pirates play by pirate rules...
that's really leaving you with 2 factions, even if it was an even split, pirates vs law abiders, it'd still be 50% pirates, 15, 15, 20% rest, or something similar.
in SWG, alot of people went imperial... well, imperials got badass storm trooper outfits, and ATST's
i'm sure alot of people will want to play as the iron fist in this one too...
but again, you've got 3 law abiding and thus similar factions vs pirates, so there's going to be a fuck of a lot more pirates than probably all of the others combined, which will be odd since pirates were without a doubt, a minority.

Yeah im thinking of pirates too. would like to go British if it is actually called British and not England, may sound like im being picky but its like calling a Canadian an American and vis versa im sure but id really like to try my hand at a bit of crafting and i feel that there may be an over load of pirates so.... still undecided. but i can belive that an over abundance of pirates came from Scotland, any excuse to sink an English ship lol.......
Altho pirates do sound fun i think the lack of crafting which what ive read sounds fantastic, takin the cool bits from SWG when that game was good and the fact that altho captureing ships is a highlight, the fact that its only got 1 poinbt left before it visits the fishies pushies me away from them, however depending on the server layout i may be pirates as if the servers are not regional based i may try revive my old guild that were pirate themed.
