Has anyone had this problem?

Hello I just bought Lotro today loaded the game patched in all fine. When I went to play I can't log into any servers I get a connection failed and it counts 1 to 20. I talked to online tech support and read the Lotro forums and did all they say to do. I even called my phone company to configure my modem/router. Ive wasted my whole day trying to log into this game and make a character. How is everyone playing Lotro if you cant log into any servers? If I cant find out what's up I guess Ive wasted $50 for this game you cant even log into to play.  Never in my life have I wasted a whole day to struggle to find out how to log into a server to play. Ive played UO and wow and never had any issues like this before with my ISP pretty crazy. Thanks all for any help you can give.

Weird indeed. You said you could play WoW, but the LoTRO Servers won't activate? I personally didn't need to forward any specific ports for LoTRO or WoW. Maybe the Witch-King of Angmar doesn't like that you've touched WoW? You'll need to sacrifice a goat, and pray to Morgoth for any access to LoTRO, sadly.

Well now that sounds strange indeed. What I can gather is that you got your account set up proper and no router NAT issue as you phoned with your ISP (assuming they didn't tell crap).

Neither is the firewall or a peer/port filtering program making trouble and routing is just fine. That you can fire up the launcher and patch just fine implies that.

Nevertheless there is a known issue with the login servers. Which is claimed to be solved completely now but it doesn't look like.

Anyway as last resort try to partially disable security software and try to log in. Meaning that you disable the firewall and try to log in. Then Peerguardian (if you use such) or similar programs and so on. This only temporarily of course just to check out if any of them interferes.

If that doesn't solve it, try to turn on port forwarding on your router and also update to latest DirectX (serious).

Hope that helps but I doubt I did tell you anything new at all.

I used to have that problem when I entered my password with the wrong case. This was in the beta, but it might be related.

What router do you have? Firewall?

There was a lot of posts on the official forums of zonealarm messing with some people.

Back in AC2 that game was picky with Belkin routers. I had a friend who had one and AC2 gave her complete hell. She hooked the modem directly to the PC and AC2 ran fine, but she did not know much about configuring routers and did not know how to tinker with the router to get it to work.

If all else fails and you use a firewall in the router just hook your PC directly up to your modem bypassing the router just to see if it is the router. Then rehook it back.

Of course check to see if you can go to webpages or something when your modem is hooked directly to your PC to see if you got a connection.

Not sure when you tried to log in today but the servers were down for maintenance till 1pm. Other than that I have no idea why you would have troubles.

sounds like a router or firewall problem. These are LoTROs ports which need to be opened outbound

    Port 80

    Ports 9000-9010UDP

    Ports 2900-2910UDP

if you are not sure how to set up a router go here

    forums.lotro.com/showthread.php

If that does not solve the issue then go into

C:Documents and SettingsUSERNAMELocal SettingsApplication DataTurbineThe Lord of the Rings OnlineLauncher

for the launcher logs and post those with a description of you problem over on the Lotro Forums in the General tech support forum

here is another link that you may find useful

    support.turbine.com

which will connect you to live chat support or email support

LOL 5 bucks say seabass nailed the problem, I was at work and forgot today was patch day
