FPSMMORPG? :)

I was just wondering if there were any games that combine a FPS side of the game, and with that a "leveling treadmill."  Something like you have to kill "mobs" to level, but you don't just click and attack, you actually have to shoot the mob, like in an FPS.

And as you level up you get new skills, more hp and mp for special attacks.

Any games out there like this?  I don't know how exactly it would work, but I'm hoping someone figured it out and made a game like this. :P

I think you should check out Planetside or Neocron also.

Another one in the works is Face of Mankind.

Not planetside, there really is no treadmill =

But Endless ages is a good one, Although the trial is for 5 days, not 7.

I would go for Face of Mankind beause this is a new game that already gets good reports so that's nice and a good political sytem too, you must check it out, they are betatesting at the moment but that won't take to long no more.

    Bah.... One answer.. NEOCRON.

Sounds like its the PERFECT game for you. Go check it out. It has all the things you asked for. I played it for a while, then went to AO, then Shadowlands came out, and I went to Planetside. Now I have a lvl 20/5 and its not fun being maxed, so Im going to Neocron untill EQ 2.

gah! planetside! no! do not invest! this was my first p2p game ever and i regreted it. it was cool, but it got very boring and annoying quickly in a couple months. after 4 months, the population died serverly. but if you do go to planetside, tip: do not join emerald. the only tactics there are with the NC. the TR and VS are just morons are Emerald. TR are the worst. We try to attack an enemy with 200 people, we lose 150+ before we get to the fighting and end up going up against 300 NC at one base with only 50 TR. this is very common. Markov is a smaller server, but it does seem more balanced. this is just my opinion.

it's...scary. very, very, very, scary...the world we live in...that's why i love the virtual world.

Neocron is one, Planetside as well, and there was another game that isn't out that is coming out, forgot it's name, but it looks cool.

My opinion on FPSMMO's is that they are very innacurate and annoying. If your used to a FPS like CS then you want low pings and accuracy, and that just cant be given on a FPS MMO.

    MMO = Mass Multiplayer Online

When you have a mass amount of people, online at the same time, you get high pings. So i dont enjoy the whole FPSMMO atmosphere. But some might, and dont take me wrong, im not bashing it. I just dont enjoy them.

There is no "levelling treadmill" in Face of mankind, no skills to upgrade, so it isn't what you are looking for.

Seeing as you very accurately described Neocron without knowing it existed there can be only one answer for you.

I actually LOVE planetside. Sometimes the framerates are a little low, but my ping is usually around 50-70. they are constantly releasing new patches that improve framerate also. The Markov server may have fewer people but it is much more organized. There are entire outfits (like mine) that use teamspeak to coordinate attacks. It makes the game SO much more fun! Do not rule out Planetside completely. Also, if you are looking for it to buy, stores usually dont carry it, Fileplanet or Overstock.com are good places to get it cheaper than usual.

Jumpgate, FPS spaceship piloting.  Pretty cool (if dated) game, and as you level up you can get faster/more powerful spaceships with better guns with which to blast those damn pink aliens!
