With eager anticipation my mouse glides over to the free 14 day trial offer for CoH and dammit, its USA residents only. This has happened before with other games, why? Am I, being from Blighty, less likely to sign up as result of the trial? Is my £ sterling just not good enough? Or is it racism? (don't hate me because I am pink). Why? WHY? WHYYYYYY????

Don't know if it works for COX but i remember FF11 being U.S. only in the beginning. I wasn't able to fill in a dutch adress, only a u.s. adress during signing up, and i kept getting errors that the postal code did not exist. What i did was give up a fake adress, which i just ripped from the internet (just typed adress in google and saw the adress of some american company and copied and pasted it into the application form).
Strangely, i was still able to use my dutch mastercard as payment option and it worked. Don't know if it works for other games though, but you could try it.
Works for me.
You're as close to racism as you get there li'l buddy.

"When people tell me designing a game is easy, I try to get them to design a board game. Most people don't last 5 minutes, the rest rarely last more then a day. The final few realize it's neither fun nor easy."
there would be 2 reasons for it...
1. differentiate US / EU markets so as to make more money off europeans who would otherwise switch to cheaper subs on US servers (apple in court over not allowing european itunes downloads from UK IPs anyone?!)
2. block asian IPs for fear of the farmer...
