Finally after a lot of trials and tests I decided to start a topic at this site.
I am still searching for a mmorpg that assuages my desires.
Here is the list of the games I tested:
DAoC, Everquest II, WOW, Guild Wars, Dark & Light and Wurm Online.
I haven't had fun with these ones.
Here's a list of what I expect from a mmorpg (fantasy/middle-age) :
The most important thing for me is the development and variety of a character.
Also there should be thousands of different items.
There should be some realism which really sux in WoW. Wolfs, bears and thieves will never walk together in a forest Oo.
I don't care about quests. It cramps my style. I would prefer a totally free game like Wurm Online without quests or assignments.
But I think that's nearly impossible.
I even don't need a lot of special affects, perfect graphics and all the stuff. A game has to work without making errors and I am satisfied with the engine used for example in Gothic or Morrowind.
(Short hardware list : AMD Semphton 2600+ , 1gb ram and ati radeon 9500 pro)
I don't search for a specific one. All I want are some suggestions, but I think the game I am searching for already exists or won't be playable on my computer.
I am willing to pay monthly, if the game is good.
Please gimme some suggestions. I am sick of testing games...
If I missed something let me know it
Cheers,
Roland

You have a very broad search for a mmorpg but that is ok.
As you stated you are looking for a game that is
1) Not quest oriented
2) Realistic (for the most part)
3) Fantasy/middle aged based
4) Development of the Character
5) Lot's of "original unique" items
There are some games that can fit into at least one of these areas
1) Rakion - Has no real quests, for the most part. (free)
2) Warrock - First person shooting (FPS) no real quests (very similar to Battlefied) and is free to download and play
3 ) Lineage II- Quests for the most part are not important (except turnkey quests) and has a middle aged feel (somewhat a grind game)
4) Rappelz- grind game with quests for the most part do not have to do. (free)
5) Silkroad online- few quests, grinding type of game, (can be very hard to login on during the weekends) (free)
6) Knight online- somewhat like silkroad online, but you can learn a second language while you play (Turkish). (free)
Your specific game you wish to play is very broad. For the most part , every MMORPG has some type of objective and many of the games have a grind to level up.....although some games are better at disguising the grind, such as having quests. All games I have listed are free (except Lineage II) so the worst thing that can happen is that you delete the game off your computer.
I have only listed the games I have played, the best thing to do may be to read the ratings and forums about these games and other games and hopefully you can find a game that will fill your criteria .
When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.
Doktar - 70 Troll Priest - Perenolde
I will check the games out and start with Lineage II because the screenshots look very nice.
I come back to comment my "new" experiences
You can get a 14 day free trial, but will most likely take longer than 14 days to get a "real feel" for the game.
I would suggest a few things before playing;
1) This game requires patience....leveling will take some time
2) Always think twice before spending Adena (gold) .....you will understand when you play
3) Read the Lineage II forums to get an idea about what type of character to choose, trust me it is better to get all the info now before creating a character than leveling a character for a few months and having regrets.
4) If you have any questions about the game ASK in the Lineage II forum, people will be more than happy to to help you out.
5) Try to get into a level 5 clan or any clan for that matter it is the foundation of the game.
6) Choose a heavy server (Bartz, Hindemith, Teon) *all servers are good, the three (3) listed servers is just my personal opinion
7) Have fun playing

Do you still play Lineage II ?
