I have just posted a blog about the origin of my name in-game, Jestor Rodo at blog.myspace.com/lovethatjestor but enough about me. Let us hear your story behind your in-game name.

Wanted to make a new char. Used to make random names before. Couldnt think of any good one for a night elf rogue I wanted to try out, so I looked at the skin, which was pink. Name "Pink" was taken but "peenk" wasnt
My main character is like to play is a fugitive, antisocial, horribly intelligent misogynist called Ethendil. Ethendil is almost always human and always a rogue or wizard archtype. I can't remember how I came up with the name, I just know he was my first Baldurs' Gate II character, back at launch. Since then, I've been using him. Love that guy.
the name Squal'Zell comes from 2 final fantasy characters
squal and zell
when i was looking to find a name for my ingame/internet identity i read on a site to look for your favourite RPG characters and combine them.
then i had some problems later at the begining of my SWG experience where the Devs/admins warned to change my name due to copy rights. therefore i did a bit of reasearch and squal is also the meaning of a small storm and zell after some long research i found that it could be interpreted as trouble, or trouble maker. therefore my name is not infringing any copyrights laws becasue it can be translated as trouble making storm
and ive kept that name for every single game i play.
That's a bit ironic ain't it Squall? A name meaning trouble maker, that causes trouble? Anyway, Zikiel is simply put, the angel of meteors, combining two things I like, meteoric doom, and the occult.

man it took me a couple of reads to get what you meant
maybe i should have gone to sleep sometime this week....
I hate the ranking system here. I dropped from a 76 to a 53 overnight , someone here does not "Love that Jestor", Empowering morons to rate forum users is not going to achieve anything except a drop in posts .
I didnt even know you could rate other peoples ranking, maybe thats why my ranking has been so weird... but then again I dont really care about it. Its not like it affects me in any kind of way.
EDIT: forgot to mention my in game name ... Korosu, kill in japanese... I used to have narakuu wich means hell in japanese but I got tired of inuyasha freaks asking me "oh you like inuyasha too? hehe" so now I use Korosu.
I hardly ever use the same name twice. Sometimes I use randomly generated names, sometimes I make them up out of the air, sometimes I pick something that I think is funny. Neschria came out of the AO name generator.
... This is where I draw the line: __________________.
Ive had a few names in the past, and I will tell a tail for each...
DS114: My FIRST name back in the Yahoo! chats... ever. Back in highschool, I was a MAJOR fan of a game called Total Carnage, and DS comes from the team you played a member of.. the Doomsday Squad. 114, has been a number that reoccurs for me often enough I have played it in casinos (and while I didnt win alot, I at least came out with drinks a about the same as I did when I went in). It originates from an icon at the time I came up with and made my personal stamp. Later, when board in English, I made up a number system in class, and the icon turned out to mean 114 in it, so I kept it.
Manta: I picked this one up back in highschool as well... the first name I really gamed under. In those days, it was a LAN in the school library and the game was Descent. NOBODY could kill the Manta (well one person consecutively could, but ONLY that one... no one else could get NEAR me... and he could ONLY kill me.. everyone else kicked his ass).
LV426: Alien fan.. nuff said. Still my pen-name for writing. (and obviously in forums *grins*)
Diortem: One of my chat-RPG characters took this name... it was the easiest thing I could give him, because he was an idea of mixing man and Metroid.... so I just spelled it backwards. I still use this name from time to time, as I like how it sounds.
Caliban: I know it's from Shakespear, but that isnt where I got it. It was also the name of a robot made in the Asimov Universe that was booted up WITHOUT the 3 laws as an expairiment. I respect, and admire it for making it's own way.
Cypher Masquerade: It just sounded cool for a Dark Illusionist (Necromancer/Mesmer speciallizing in illusions) for Guildwars.
Darksun: This name comes from a WoD game. It was a were-cat who had to be custom made (since the Celines were removed before the end of the last version), but he was a blast to play, so his name lives on.
And lastly, Megabyte114: My number once more... and the name of one of my favorite villains of all times... Megabyte from Reboot. This is the name I travel by for my team Im forming Team Reboot. (Anyone interested, please tell me... Im recruiting as we speak)
Shae is a shortened form of Shadena which was my vampires name in WoD for ages, I have absolutely no idea where I picked it up or why. It was my characters name in Lineage, L2, SWG, EQ, EQ2, SoR, CoX and on...
I've certainly used other names before but I always seem to come back to it.
Ithuriel, in Paradise Lost, was one of the angels sent to Garden of Eden to find Satan. Satan was disguised as frog, and when Ithuriel tapped him on the head with his spear, Satan's true form was revealed, and hilarity ensued (not really, but you get idea). Has been the name of my main in every game I've played (except CoH/CoV, name was taken when I started playing). For alts, most of the time I'll just grab some angel name or take one from mythology. I've had Zeruch, Isrefel, Nidhogg, Gungnir, etc.
Still pissed about the drop in rankings , still want to hear ingame name stories
Love that Jestor!
your ranking has nothing to do with what other people think of you. it is determined by how much you have logged in in the last 30 days, how many posts you made and the quality of such posts. All right so it has do with what the guys on the top of this site think of your posts, but not other users.
As for my ingame name, I kinda use a lot of them, My nickname, however, Volkmar, just come from Volkmar the Grim, Grand Theogonist of Sigmar.
When I started playing UO I was kinda all in Warhammer fantasy and I simply loved the image of Volkmar the theogonist, so I borrowed his name as my nick
