in Vanguard: Saga of Heroes
....And I have to say, they (Sigil, or SOE as some like to argue) have made some good improvements. I have been away for over a month, and I recently decided to resubscribe a few days ago. I rarely post on these forums, and if anyone is curious, I am currently playing another well received MMO, so I am not a fanboy, vanboy, or anything of the like. I actually quit VG within the first two months out of disgust, due to the unplayable FPS, the broken quests, and dull feeling of the game overall. But I do have to be honest, and fair. I feel that Sigil has done a fine job in making improvements to VG. Maybe not as many improvements as some would have, but I feel they are progressing well. The FPS have dramatically improved (and no, I have not upgraded my PC in the meantime), the combat is quicker and less laggy, and the overall feel of the game is less buggy and more complete. Granted, when I re-subscribed, I started a different race and different class. I have to say I identify alot more with the necromancer class than I do the shaman class, even though I usually play healers in MMO's. I still believe that Sigil has done a good job of making improvements. Does this mean there is no more work to be done? Of course not, and Sigil has alot of work to do if they want to make this the top MMO. But it has gotten better, and that is the whole point of this post. Does that justify them charging current players $15 a month for? That is not for me to decide. I believe, despite my previous disgust with this title, that it does have some lasting power. If Sigil could just iron out the remaining bugs, work on smoothing the client, and, yes, work on getting back the jaded players (which I once was).....Yes, it could become the premier MMO. We shall see....I just wanted to share my own opinion, which is neither fanboy or hater, on the current state of VG, so that others that are interested in the game may have a second opinion free of all they hate/love. Here's to wishing whatever MMO you're playing is a fun and enjoyable one!

    I'm sorry, but the FPS still suck, the crashes are still there, the game isn't less buggy or more complete.

    There's still no flying mounts, no raids, no fellowships, no forums, nothing.

    Even in beta there were posts going "oooooooooh the fps / game / pos has dramaticly inproved".

    The engine is still the same, the crashes are still there, the fps is still the same.The "official tech forums", is full with people complaing about crashes and performance, even more so now than a few months ago.

    No viral marketing here, friend. As I stated in my original post, I am not a "one MMO" kind of person. I play whatever I have fun with. As far as your comment dealing with flying mounts, raids, fellowships, and such, I can't really comment. I have just recently returned, and am only level 6 with my new character. Yes, jump on this as you will. "You haven't experienced enough!", "You don't know what the end game holds!", etc....I can hear it now. But I have to tell you. If 5 hours with the game is not enought to decide whether or not the FPS have increased, and the overall performance and feel of the game has gotten better, then I don't know what is. I have no other agenda here other than to tell others what I have experienced "personally" with the game. I'm not saying it is the law of the land, just what I've experienced.

    And you're telling me performance has magically improved too now?

     

     These are the tech forums highest posts atm:

    -Game hangs afther Character sellect screen when loading.

    -Stuck after clicking "PLAY"

    -Insane bugs, substandard game support...

    -Fix the PoS I love Logging in running someplace and crashing to desk top, then logging back in and as soon as character pops in game CTD

    These are only the like top 4 posts. There's tons and tons, whole pages of people complaining.

    I don't need your lies.

    There's no official forums either, lier.

    THAT'S TECH FORUMS FOR THE THOUSANDS OF PISSED OF CUSTOMERS. THE ONLY THING THAT FORUM TALKS ABOUT ARE CRASHES.

    Clearly the OP think the FPS do not suck, in his eyes it has been better then it was the last time he tried.

    And for alot of people the FPS has increased. For other it is still the same. That is nothing new today, so need to try it to sound anything different now.

    This is the interesting part though. Would you ever expect people coming to a technical support forum and say I do not have this problem, I don't have that problem.     Meaning you will only hear the ones having problem at a forum aimed to solve problem.



    Looking at any other game you would think noone can start it, you would think their praised programmer can't do coding. They solve 1 bug and introduce 2 others.

    Ease up folks.... the OP just stated his opinion that the game has improved in his eyes when the returned compared to his original experience.  As in everything in life, your results may vary.  Yes, there are still people having problems running VG... take a look at the WoW supp;ort forums...plenty of folks in trouble there as well..despite the game being known for running on just about every computer ever made.



    The OP's post makes no outlandish claims, he never said that all the bugs were fixed, nor that he was getting 100 fps in a town full of people.... just that things were improving.



    I quit VG too...but don't spend all my time bashing the heck outta the game... it had its issues, and I expect they'll fix some of them.  Some will remain and those who play the game will have to decide if their tolerance for the problems is overcome by their enjoyment of the game.



    I pay attention to posts like these, because one day I might give the game another try just to see if I have a bit more fun than I had in the first go around.... if you don't like VG..great.... let it alone... we know it "sucks" already....

    Nobody would say anything if criticism is delivered in a constructive way which would be beneficial to the whole mmorpg scene. 

    And to Amathe, you are right, it was a viral marketing message, a positive consumer review is a viral marketing message or were you thinking of stealth marketing?

    The problem with having the CEO go onto public forums and talk at great length about how their fans should take part in viral marketting on forums, is that everyone see's this and then expects it. So everytime someone posts about how its getting better, just looks like part of their viral campaign.

    To make that sort of thing succesful Brad, you should probably keep it to your inner team

    Dang dude... if you have such a problem with vanguard why do you act like such an ass to everyone in the vanguard forum.

    You don't see be bust in the Lineage II forums bashing everyone there because they happen to like a game I do not.

    I agree, by being open with all aspects of the game to a community which consists of children, emotional youngsters and mmorpg addicts can back fire easily. His "openess" would fit more to a b2b situation.
