It is a very fun game but it is a long shot from a good mmorpg. I rate it great on the FPS scale (8) but only a (3) on any sort of role-play scale.

I enjoy it as much as I do any FPS like desert combat or unreal tournament. There is too little as far as loot, crafting, character building (not talking about costumes here), to give it a high mmorpg rating... sorry.

I have an account and I play it from time to time when I need a break from my mmorpgs.

    Hi all

first off all forgive my english :)

here is my little CoH Story

I bought the game for 5 days directly at ncsoft after the download was rdy i installed and make my first char on liberty a mutant/blaster

The first hours of gameplay was amazing nice graphic sound and gameplay easy to learn but after a few hours i get boring doing nothing else as walking the streets and hunting for some gangmembers

so i searched for a grp found one and it was funny but after a few hours i get boring doing nothing else as walking the streets and hunting some freaks.

    so i started a mission

but after a few hours i get boring.... to be continued

what i want to say with this little story

CoH is a nice swwt game but only for few hours a day iplay MMorpg for years and i play them 10 -15 h a day (SWG for example) but CoH is for me only 2-3 h playing worth :)

Who said they will not continue to nerf down the road? Also nerfing at all should be done in beta thats what its for not after release. And alot of MMoRPG's have never nerfed AC is a good example of that. Sorry but any game that reduces player performance after a release because people are having fun with the way it was made is just wrong.

Yes, some people are having connection issues, but as I just posted in another thread, the tech support folks are fairly active on the boards and have posted numerous solutions. Most of which are working for folks.

Some people?? I have yet to be in a group that doesn't have people constantly being disconnected. Over 1/2 of the players are having this problem that not a few people.

Overall, I find it hard to believe it's possible to judge a game when it's only 30 days old.

WHY?? Its a released game.. I have no problem judging any game released after 30 days.

I got a reply finally to my trouble ticket and its an issue system wide that tell me there is no ETA to fix this and that its not just me its everyone having the "Lost Connection to Mapserver" Issue. Personally I don't think there setup is ready to handle the number of people they have and there waiting to see how many leave after there first 30 days of being bored to death before they upgrade servers and order more bandwidth.

These problems do not affect the majority of the customers. Further, the servers themselves have had only a couple unplanned shutdowns to do some network or hardware maintenance. Basically, outside of the planned downtimes, the game has been rock solid.

Yes it sucks that you may be one of the people that are experiencing problems but your experience is not shared overall and that is why you don't see volumes of material addressing the issue. To interpret that as they aren't doing anything about it is simply incorrect.

Well thats a lie I got an official responce stating everyone is having "lost Connection to Mapserver" issues. That its not just me but thousands have the problem and its being worked on with no ETA..

Just look at there service area on there site and you will see pages of problems listed publicly with some possible solutions. Just imagin how many there are without those posted solutions.

This game is anything but rock solid.

And FYI I was in the park 2 days ago when the zone crashed ya thats rock solid.. NOT!!

Well not everyone is having Mapserver problems, I am certainly not having them nor are any of the other 50-60 people that I am playing with in two different super-groups. So while there may be some players that are having the issues, it isn't all encompassing. And if it isn't affecting all players, then chances are that it is a network issue because while you are disconnected I and many others are continuing to play.

Network issues haunt most MMOGs because they don't know all the possible routes and gateways that their players will have to traverse to connect. Cryptic will work to resolve these so that you can stay connected to the stable server environment that I and many others are enjoying.

Might I ask which server you play on? The support team asked me to try a different server today because they think it might be a problem with the server I play on..

And if your never getting this problem and no one else out of 60 people are having it you might be on the most stable server and I would like to test this for them and let them know so they can fix it.

I think it's always fun, more or less like DAoC in the fun department, I don't know why people say these kind of games are not of the fun.

I think this game is for the casual player not the hardcore addicts. Very good game for me as I do not want to invest 4+ hours a day to accomplish 1/5 of a level. Or spend 4+ hours at a chance of 1 piece of loot that will be worthless to me since raiding guilds in do not XP (see EQ).

I dont like this game, mainly because i like getting loot and making my character better and better, and not jsut with upgrades. I also found the game very repetative and there isnt much content. Luckily i was in beta so i found out it sucked before i spent money on it.

As probably said earlier, this game lacks a major component that all MMORPG's need, Loot.  No matter how well you can customize your character if you cant change the items he or she uses, or armor, etc, it will be absolutly mind numbing hack and slash.

This is the beginning of my past. This is the end of my journey.

He was smart too.. I was in beta for 1 1/2 months and didnt see the writing on the wall.. I blame the chars customization and good selection of powers.

This topic title is misleading, Cooh isn't boring for me at all, and i'm doing the same thing you guys are...

Perhaps you guys should mention how many consecutive hours of gameplay are involved before CoH gets boring? 6-10 a day? 40 a week? less? more?

It's clear CoH is meant for the casual gamer... is that still okay for an MMO to do?

Not really as a MMoRPG is a pay per month casual gamers would be silly to pay for this. Why pay for a box game then pay a monthly fee to log in 2 times a month and play for a few hours? As a casual gamer I would be looking for games that are free to play online which there are lots of. A MMoRPG is made for level grinding progression which you can't do casually. You don't see people logging into EQ playing 2 times a month and being level 65 its just not possible as the whole end game is progression which requires guilds of 50 people to do anything in.

A MMoRPG is made for people to interact and to progress by playing together and how can you do this when your guild of friends never logged on?

CoH makers Cryptic Studios are seeing this now which is why they just released a free update to try and put more high end content into the game. Problem is the game design works against this with guild member limits, limited LFG menus, and limited progression content. It almost seems with all the changes there trying to do with the game live that there changing there whole game. Also with there latest patch they have added new anti solo content to stop blasters from soloing the game. They have nerfed fire tankers to limit there soloing progress as well. With making all these changes to try to make people group after the game has already been released is the same thing Mythic did before they almost lost there whole player base. You simply can't remake a game after release and expect to keep your already loyal player base.

Either way the point is casual gamers don't pay a monthly fee on an ongoing basis forever, but power gamers do. So can you make a casual gamers MMoRPG and make your millions? Not likly.. CoH will change alot in the next 6 months and there move seems to be towards forced grouping and power gamers. If the nerfs keep comming and the move keeps going I see there loyal player base leaving withing 6 months. Time will tell...

I am a power gamer and 1 month of play to me is usually in hours about 225 hours a month which works out to about 8 hours a day I play a MMoRPG. This is alot of online time which CoH clearly doesn't have the content for which is why so many people like me are now bored ingame. I know I can go without ever seeing another sewer or warehouse mission for the rest of my life. Even in the 30's I am seeing the exact same mission maps I did at level 5.

I played this game for about a month or so, then I quited... I HATE playing solo, and that's simply why i stopped playing it. It is a very nice game, but i just need some teamwork and more action and strategy

  • Ned^KellyNed^Kelly Member Posts: 7

I got to lvl 20 and got bored due to lack of depth in combat.

I went from fast paced and very exciting early to very slow and grinding.

The lack of community/ecconomy/loot means there is no other things to spend some time doing to break up the grinding either.......it just kill kill kill.

Shame really, cause it was very fun for a while early.

  • TanjentTanjent Member Posts: 1

Personally, I'm quite glad the the powergamers get bored and move on quickly.

It makes for a better community for those of us who find the game fun... who stop and read the mission stories, enjoy the very rich environment that Cryptic has built.

Played DAoC for 2 years... there isn't anywhere near this much storyline in that game.

Enjoy whatever game you find the most fun... but stop crying and wailing that this one isn't it for you.

Been playing this game for 45 days now and I have to agree that the game does get boring pretty fast.  The most interesting thing is that after every 5 levels you can go to a new map and explore a bit.

Fights are mostly the same though, and leveling can be pretty slow.  I had a great time making my character, then went straight into missions.  After doing mission after mission for the first 20 or so levels, things get repetitive fast.  You have to kill so many of the same type of mobs that it just gets dull.

The only thing I look forward to now is for my next set of powers...but since leveling is slow, this part just seems to be out of reach.

I doubt I stay with this game another 30 days.  But its just filler till World of Warcraft comes out.

I dont understand why people are soloing so much I mean obviously for later parts of this game its group oriented and all and maybe thats why people aernt liking it so much because they get bad groups. personally I've had great groups in missions.. leveling.. and in Task forces although this game is just holding me by till WoW I still enjoy it

  • LurinLurin Member Posts: 2
I had the same problem, boring after about one month. The problem isnt the solo aspect though as I had lots of friends that I teamed with all the time. The problem is the XP curve which is way to step after level 10. Takes forever to level. The xp curve gets steep way to fast and in any other mmo you can do other things like upgrade your equipment when you dont want to hunt for xp but as CoH doesnt have normal items its hard =)

  • I agree Coh is for 12 years old with attention spands of 6 year olds..omg you can be officially diagnosed as retarded and play this game, and u might actually like it. No depth to it whatsoever. Cancelled after 3 weeks (played maybe 1 hour a day), top level was 18 blaster. look its me playing Cohimage.....Its graphices and character customization is top notch though... Anyhow thats just a personal opinion..See ya all in a real game w.o.w...

I got his game about 2 weeks ago and I don’t even plan on staying for the free month. Let me makethis fast… this game is for people new to MMORPG. One of the things that bugged me was how everything was the same… do a mission… kill kill kill kill… you can’t just chill and fish… or do any kind of craft what so ever… all you do is fight. Very boring and simple game... most people like it because its easy... thats all it has going for it.
