((hello i asked this before i think, but id figure id put it out once more to see if i could grab the attention of some rpers.
is there a solid rping community in this game? i looked at the rp boards on VN and saw nothing but spam, and ooc discussion, no updated guild listings really, etc.
is it my own oversight or is this game lacking in rp in general? i know they have rp servers but is there an unnofical, that is prefered server for rp? im thinking of trying out the trial to get a feel for the game, but need to know which server to try so i can get a feel for the game, and make my own judgement.
thank you for your time and hlepful replys.

I do not RP myself but felt I should post at least something and maybe give you some direction.... hopefully.
The RP servers used to be popular waaay back when the game was in it's prime but I do not know the state of them now. There are guilds here and there that tend to RP but I think they keep it in the guild and don't carry it over to the outsiders. I think there's a guild on the Clasic Cluster called Shadowklan. They are an all kobold guild and they do rp.

you can go to their site and check it all out, and also as meny have suggested the classic servers might be a good place for you to learn the game.
Good luck with your search. I hope this helps
No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-
2. Try the RP servers. If RP exists in DAOC they will be there. Outside of a couple of people you are unlikely to meet anyway, you will not find them on the other servers.
The thing with VN is that the people on some of the server boards have known each other in game as well as in real life that they can say things that would usually offend people who do not know them.
I can go even further and say that a few of the server boards posters don't even play the game anymore, like Igraine, but rather have the people there posting about other random events in their lives, news, and other topics. If you approach them with an open mind and no expectations of actual content relating to DAoC you might even get a laugh or two.
DAoC is old and not many new people are coming into the community and the old timers are basically there because of the others. It's a common place where they can post without having to hunt down e-mail addresses and run chat programs like msn, icq, or what have you.
That's my two cents
