Any MUD Players?

jsw40jsw40 Member Posts: 214

Does anyone here play any MUDs? After realizing that there are 0 MMORPGs out right now that catch my fancy, I've decided to turn to MUDs. Skotos has really good games, like The Eternal City, but the population and PvP systems aren't worth the monthly fee.

Also, Achaea and some other IRE MUDs are really good quality, but the currency and skillpoint buying system REALLY turns me off.

Any other recommendations?

Right now I'm playing The Beast Within: Immortal Conflict

It's a Godwars: Dystopia codebase with a ton of modifications. It's pretty much pure pvp.

If you're interested, just look it up on www.mudconnector.com

If you like Acheae, you could try Avalon.

It's the game that the IRE games are based on, and uses the same system. If anything, it's a better game in most respects, although slightly more hardcore in terms of PvP. It's pay by the month, not skillpoint buying, which makes it a little exclusive, as most MUDs are free to play. I believe the first 5 hours are free though if you want to have a look.

It's been going for 20 years and the world has a long history, created by the players for the most part. I've not played in a while, but I had a few good years, and my character is probably still mentioned in some of the history books. I do keep missing the game. It's probably the 20 years of development that makes me miss so many aspects of it whenever I play any other MMORPG.

I used to be an avid mudder., 2 of my favorites were Clandestine and Waterdeep both are Rom/RoT code and had dozens of unique classes and races, and you were able to reroll.

If they are still running they would definately be worth looking into.
