Me and wife left Vg after 3 weeks while the startup and newbie areas were wonderful we found outside of those it was just grind grind grind.
Has it changed or gotten better in any way ?
Well all i can say some places are still wonderfull and i'm still having fun when playing the game. But to be honost its hard to answer your question without knowing what it is you look for in a game. Like for example do you enjoy being a crafter? or maybe you all about pvp in that case i'm no good as i'm not into pvp with Vanguard, more the socializer pve player), maybe you like just being free and do what ever you want to do with no presure felt to lvl asap? I definitly feel performance increase but i'm also aware of some area's i traveld to that still have some severe bugs, mainwhile afcourse avoiding those places as Vanguard is big enough but in time they need to sort allot of bugs out if they want to keep subs coming in. Cause i can fully understand if someone unaware of some probs in some area's start out there, it might become frustrating to play and even to consider playing futher in the game or travel to another location as some might think its all the same as in issues, can't always blame them used to be somewhat like that myself, caught myself being like that at early beta when i thought the game to be okay but nothing close as being special or even to think it woudl become my main mmorpg for now.
So the only real and honost advice someone can give is that only you and your wife might be able to tell if the changes gotten better as for some allot has changed (as in more content, quests, performance) but also many will say nothing has really changed dramaticly for them thought they still play and afcourse some will say nothing has changed at all but those we do understand are not playing the game. And i'm not saying everything changed for the good cause they still mess up some things and some things happen to me at some locations that din't happen before or in other location. Still for me the game offers more then other games offer me personaly. Try and keep in mind i'm a socializing pve player so my experianced is based on lots of solo play, chat, traveling, and occasionaly grouping but honostly not htat often so about group bugs i have a to low experiance in grouping to been effected by it.
Get A hold of a key cause the two of you can be the best judge.

If you felt Vanguard was a grind before, then it'll still come off as a grind today. The grind also intensifies dramatically as you level (e.g. Kill 10 horseflies becomes a Kill 100 snakes, Collect 10 hyena paws becomes Collect over 100 feathers and hundreds of other random animal parts for some quests.)

I think what Sepher is trying to say is that yes its exactly like every oither MMO

I think what Sepher is trying to say is that yes its exactly like every oither MMO That'd be dependent upon the OPs own personal threshold of what's "fun" and what's a "grind". Kill X quests in one MMO are different from the next, or any other repetitious time sink activities.
So no, that's not what I'm saying at all. I'm saying that if Vanguard came off as a grind early on, it only amplifies later on because it's timesinks exponentially increase with no new overarching effort to make the grind less evident.
That is the whole design challenge of creating an MMO, you know? Masking the timesinks which keeps a game fun and the perception of grind to a nil. For example; judging by what the OP posted, the "grind" wasn't felt during the newbie areas even though Kill X quests were being done then, it was felt afterwards. For folks like you swede, I imagine you've never felt it, but the threshold does exist, and if its met early in Vanguard, then things don't exactly ever reverse.
The beuracracy system was wonderful but once you leave the newbie area I found little or no depth to it.
This game was suposed to cater to casual players too, grind is not casual player friendly.
What is the solo ability like now, yes I like to group as does my wife but I don't like to be forced to group.
Well if you quit three weeks after release, here some things you might notice different or the same:
The Good:
1. Adventuring experience was boosted a few times.
2. 3-dot and above NPCs had their hit points dropped making them less time-consuming. This personally made two-person grouping a bit better for me I think.
3. Raiding is just about to enter it's initial beta testing, so no need to worry about any raiding incentives for quite awhile.
The Bad:
1. Vanguard is still primarily a grouping game that's solo-"friendly". What that means is, as you level, there's increasing incentive to group and soloing becomes less viable. It's quite possible to run out of solo quests during your leveling, and you might find yourself scavenging the different continents for something to do (but that goes for grouping as well I guess.)
2. The servers are now suffering from a lower population than you remembered, and the LFG functionality has seen no improvements. You might find yourself depending on sending tells, or receiving tells for groups should you ever want one.
It'd help if you pointed out exactly what you felt was a "grind". Like I said though, if it was any repetition in the kind of mobs you have to kill, for quests or simply camping, it'll never change, the grind just amplifies tremendously.

If you find your quest log empty or filled with impossible quests ... just travel around a bit. There are plenty of quest hubs where you can pick up new quests. It also depends on the classes you pick. I'm playing a dread knight + shaman duo and that works great for us. And whenever a quest or dungeon is too hard for us two, we can easily pick up other players since we already have a tank and a healer.

I believe that is the question. Based on my personal experience, my answer is absolutely. The game has fixed bugs, improved performance, and added content. The game actually continues to improve, and I am confident that it will sustain this momentum it has built to not only improve but enhance the game. Above all else, I am really pleased with the sheer amount of content added; and they are adding content now as I write this, raid content primarily.

All MMORPGs have a grind factor, newbie area are always easy to advance in.
As for fun factor, a lot of dungeons have been revamped, there are a lot more that need it but they seem to be improving things gradually.
It also depends where your hunting, some continents have better dungeons than others at different levels.
If your thinking about coming back, it seems to me your missing the game. Sure it has a big grind factor but the journey is often better than months and months of little end game content and many people don't seem in a rush to get to max level.
I have a 42nd Shaman, sure it took me 3 weeks (real time not game time) and 10 levels to get all my ancient armour, sure it took me 3 levels and 2 weeks for my Graystone weapon, but was it worth it? Absolutely, get a real sense of achievement that quite frankly is rare in any other game.
Now playing: VG (after a long break from MMORPGS) Played for more than a month: Darkfall online, Vanguard SOH, Everquest, Horizons, WoW, SWG, Everquest II, Eve

Level 42 in 3 weeks? You know that the first Level 50 Character in Vanguard has about 5 weeks to get to it? And he played the whole day.
