I'm not the biggest fan of Star Gate (More of a Star Trek fan ), but I do like to watch it when I catch it (its not being televised in Australia where i am). SG-1 was very fun to watch ... untill they ran out of material, and Stargate Atlantis was soooooo wet and embaressing (pardon the pun).
I have not researched it at all, but the game graphics look realy nice, and it has a lot of potential to expand into into other game worlds. I think I would definatly play it when it comes out. Hopefuly not a typical shooter PvP style game, but some room to explore a bit. The idea of walking through the gate and experiencing a brand new playing world would be very appealing.
You would excuse me if that aspect has been covered already, but what would be a great seller for me would be...
-a few quest in wich former SG 1 main or even secondary character are involved.
-Voice acting for the quests and a few in game events. Quote could be recycle from the TV series but in a hilarious set up ("Is that the face of a deranged man? ... Ok bad example" comes to mind)
-I got a quest that involve snatching fruits loops, eating them in the mess and live to tell the story (that would make it for me XD)
SOE having absolutely nothing to do with the game, in any aspect, ever. SOE folk not even mentioning the game when talking to their kids about what game they might want to play. i mean, like, smedley and them not even knowing that the game, movie, or shows exist.
insanity is doing the same thing over and over and over again and expecting a different result.
with vanguard, we see that as of oooooooo this year, SOE is still doing the same old thing and expecting us to keep suffering thru it.
I second that, and want to add to the list, Sci-fi channel. the stargate killer.
I am a big stargate mov/sg/atl fan. I hope for ships, and lasers beams, and "I hear there will be cake!"

Simply put, in the long run this game will be based on skills rather then cookie cutting and you can play many different races. Humans including the Tau'ri and offworlders. the Jaffa and their defectors the same with symbiote races.
i look forward to playing this game, but i will need to upgrade my rig a little. with the unreal 3.0 engine i will get around 3 fps at most!. until i upgrade.
well the way i start playing games is first of all if it interests me at all, then i read about it and look at its pretty pictures and if im interested enough well just like every other game im gonna try it out and if i like it ill continue playing
and because im a huge fan of the shows im gonna have a look on trial
Story arc with SG1. players can be a support team such as SG11 or something and directly support SG1 on a mission.
Story arcs to make you and your friends feel like they are making a difference. This should continue to evolve with the game. Make many side arcs too. Dont make it absolutely necessary to have to participate in them.
Instanced facilities or ships for team to encounter and destroy badies
A system in place to make technological and cultural discoveries. I cannot see crafting being much of a player as the military supplies most of the gear the teams use.
10 or more large worlds to fully explore and many more smaller pieces of worlds to support missions
vehicles and lots of cool gear
there does need to be enough solo content to keep players busy. I know SG is based on small tactical teams. It seems for MMOs to be successful there needs to be quite a bit of solo material and small group material.
My biggest hope is that they will actually try something new and innovative, and not just make a basic mmo based on the stargate franchise.
What I'd hate to see would be an Everstar Gatequest where the O'neill class is the damage dealer, the Teal'c class is tank, and the samantha class is I dunno.. buffer/healer or something cheesy.
Secondly, I hope there will be options for diverse playstyles. One thing that worries me a little is how there isn't much melee combat in the movie or series. It's only a last resort. I'm interested to see if this will be reflected in the game as well, or if all classes will primarily be using rifles, pistols, and alien ranged weapons.
I enjoy melee classes above ranged as they have more possibilities for development other than "increased accuracy" and "increased rate of fire", and more interesting specials than "aimed shot" and "rapid shot". I also enjoy utility classes such as scouts and tacklers, and I would be extremely pleased to see if something similar would be possible in SGW.
I am anticipating this game because it will (from what I heard) has much potential to be something great, and allows a massive amount of new ideas and gameplay to be incorporated after its release. MGM is writing the scripts for the game as well which means they will certainly insure accurate comparison between the game and show. The development team seems to have plenty knowledge of the show, so I am confident that they will produce one of the best MMORPG's.
I listened to one of their podcasts and it does sound difficult to give each player discrepant clothing. The asgard don't wear clothes and the Jaffa have their armor. Too many people will dressed in the same suit, but they said they will solve that issue. In my opinion, they should simply allow all players to dress in any outfits they desire with customizable features. Example would be a Jaffa wearing different colored armor or just a chain mail instead. A human can simply wear a t-shirt, give the Asgard some clothes that suit their culture. As long as the attire is reasonable with the races. You shouldn't have Asgard wearing human t-shirts, or humans wearing Jaffa armor, or any race wearing something ridiculous and doesn't agree with the race's culture.
If they spent some time allowing us to customize our body build and overall shape (something I feel is lacking in most mmo's) and face, clothing might not have to be that diverse to have individualism.
I would rather look sorta plain and average, than mingle with asgard wearing novelty pirate hats, bright pink pants and an ms-paint black coat "because they can". Tho a compromise would obviously be a better idea.
I know that there will be squad based tasctics and combat, but what would make me want to play is having Scientists and Archeologists have equal importance to the game beyond crafting. Half the original team were soldiers but the other half were thinkers. Sure they had weapons training, but they never had protracted fights.
Give a man fire and he''s warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he''s warm the rest of his life.
While I am a fan of the shows, I am not that will be enough to make me want to play.
I'd like to throw this out there, and see what would make others want to play this MMO.
As for me, I'd like for them to make the planets very large and fully explorable. Also I would like for them to have a lot of planets, not just a 30-40, but 1-2 hundred.
Gesh... It has the Stargate in the title... Could there be any other reason to want to play??? <lol>
I swear, though, if they ruin this like they did with the original launch of Star Wars Galaxies, I am going to send hate mail to someone.
1 or 2 hundred worlds would be awsome. but maybe instead of them all being on the first game maybe have them on expansion packs.
I would also play it if it were free to play it. I hate that all the other games out there require a monthly fee to play. I would mind as much if there was a one time fee payment when I purchase the game.

I doubt that it will be a no fee game such as Guild Wars. I would like to see an invovation in cost though. The more people the play the less it would cost. a standard $14.95 a month or perhaps $4.95 a month if you purchase a year in advance... Then if the player base goes up then a decrease in fees.
Of course this is all wishful thinking. But I am never willing to pay more than $14.95 a month or $9.95 a month for 3 months advance pay.
I am realistic in my thinking that proper updates and fixes require a steady income in order to fund developers.
I can not stress enough that I am probably the biggest fan of SG1 (atlantis sucks ass) and would be at walmart on the midnight of it's release to be the first in line to buy it. I bought SWG the day it was released and it broke my heart that is sucked so bad. Of course it got better over time and it HAS come a long way.
I wish there was more of a website to really give us hints on what the game will be like. GD, I just get excited thinking about it.

Because these days we play alot of adventure-fantasy sort of games such as WoW, GW , EQ2 Lineage2 etc..
but it will be cool to experience a game like Stargate Worlds.
