Theres no free trial... $40 seems like alot to drop just for a game that seems like it needs to be tried first. Any thoughts? Whats the skills like? Theres no much in the way of description on their page...
Day 1 SWG vet - Retired AO,FFXI,EQ,EQ2,V-SoH,SR,L2,D2, CoH, CoV, WoW - Played Looking for a home...
The game design is superior and outstanding in almost every way when compared to most MMOGs, but the execution is poor, especially performance wise; probably due to the limited resources of the independant start-up developer. The community is strong and personal.
The skills are fairly historically authentic, so, for example there is no Wizardry, but there is Lore and Prayer. Skills are based upon a skill tree. For example, there is a main Combat skill, under which there are sub-skills like Sword and even further specialized sub-skills of Long and Short swords.
Judging from the large polished games in your signature, I would not recommend Roma Victor to you unless you are prepared to deal with the performance issues and bugs while learning the ropes of a complex virtual world sandbox game.
Maybe check back with me in six months. The purchase price is fairly high, but there is no monthly fee.
Hmm thanks you for the honesty. I with I could get a trial of it. As long as its a sandbox game I can deal. I'm just not willing to drop the $40 without trying it.

Hmm... this purchasing currency model is nothing new - Project Entropia being the pioneer model MMO since the 90's. But PE is just a cleverly disguised casino - with horrible odds - so if Roma is closly following PE's example - watch out - might be a scam.
Just as a sidenote, any player with a high woodcutting skill (grind costs about 200 sesterces to max woodcutting + an hour or two of your time), can make 99 quality firewood piles (always in demand, cooking, smithing, etc. ).
Considering these piles go for 300 - 500 sesterces, and it takes on average 1.5 hours to complete one, the game gives fairly realistic expectations.
So you could spend 1.5 hours to generate 500 sesterces, or spend 1 GBP (Great Britain Pound) through the VERM.
To give an additional idea, 500 sesterces should buy you a 99 quality shield, or if you're lucky a good quality helmet. It WILL buy you a goat carcass, which at this point, are what are in high demand.
The Dragon Legion, Bringing Forth Eternal Light. First Roman Legion of Roma Victor.
Roma Victor is not following Entropia and it's not a scam. You simply have the option of purchasing currency directly from the developers rather than a possibly crooked third party. All this does is save you time, since there are no uber items to buy and everything can be lost. A benefit is that it can help to eliminate macro farmers and bots from the game.
no it isnt worth it if you like your combat. If your a crafter then yeah, go ahead and try it out, you'll love it. But combat is hurrendous. Even the smallest battles lag, and no its not your computer its the game (i can run any MMO on highest graphics smoothly). And the only way you get your combat skills up is to train with another person, if you dont mind it, then thats fine. But if you perfer soloing, good luck. So to sum it all up
if you craft=Yes a good buy
if your a fighter=no dont buy it.

The lag hasn't been that bad in some major battles lately, try top keep up with the games progress before posting next time.
And in fact I think soloing works fine, if you got some skills.
I wouldnt call the crafting end of the game great yet either.
It was created to make people spend ingame money, so that theyed buy more ingame money.Hence the whole "you need a hammer to make a hammer" starting point in the system.BUT it could be made the best crafting system ive seen yet in an MMO with just a few changes.
And dont forget that crafters are commonly the prime target of the "bad seeds" among the the player base.Of which there are more than the fans would like you to realize. As they make easy targets, and present little risk to their killers.

so basically every single fighter in the game? every single fighter kills crafters, it happens, it's part of the game, part of all pvp games, get over it tkobo, you get killed in a pvp game, if you wanna craft and not die, go play a different game.
stop blaming fighters for ruining a pvp game.
as for the "you need a hammer to make a hammer" it's true for real life, why not for RV, wich is, incidentally based on real life, this game isn't created to primarily make money for the devs, as the devs are chronically short of money because of their game design choices. if it is designed to make a quick buck, then they did a very bad job.
Hahhahahahha, more laughs. Somehow wonder boy takes "Bad seeds" and turns it into "every single fighter " . And of the brillaint wisdom of how "people in real life need a hammer to make a hammer" Hhhahahhahahahah .I guess it escapes him, that if that was the case there would never have been a hammer. After all how can people who reguire a hammer in "real life" to make a hammer, ever make a hammer to make a hammer ?????? Hahhahahhahahhaha Oh please, more of your wisdom. Can we hear the one about how you were unjustly banned becuase you were exploiting again ? Please please please.
1. yes, in that case, all fighters in the game are bad seeds, because crafters are killed every day ingame by fighters.. all fighters in the game have killed at least 1 crafter in the past 3 weeks I reckon, with the wars going on and the raids etc etc etc...
2.before they had metals, they used stones, then some bright spark used a stone to make a hammer(or mold), created the hammer, thus, the stone becomes useless and gets discarded, wich means people are less likely to create hammers with a stone, but a hammer. by this time in 180 AD, hammers have been in use for around 5000 years and people are dependant on them to create other hammers, smiths are extremely specialized and wouldn't dream of using inferior tools, therefore only hammers get used to create hammers, only a VERY desperate man would create a hammer with a stone tied to a stick.
if you were going to go about creating a hammer, what would you do?
there you go, more of my wisdom... think before you post.
Yeah Tkobo, please stop trolling. You are contributing nothing to the mmorpg boards at the moment.
About crafters being killed, in the future that will become much better, when the lands expand crafters will be able to live further away from the front.
And yes, crafter are not safe at all in the game.BUT contrary to someones "RECKONING" many fighters dont kill crafters or any players that are not armed.
In fact the game is set up with a VERY useless Tag system, that earns people who do kill un-armed players "criminal" tags.
BUT the player type that gets that tag, often thinks of it as an 'honnor", and thats when they are not using exploits to avoid getting the tag.
Heres a direct qoute from a dev not so long ago, that oddly enough refers to one person whos posting here.Wanna guess who ?
Ill give you a clue, hes the one crying about being banned so much on this forum. He's also one of those telling you how you should play the game.Odd isnt it.
A player who has previously spawn camped new players, and previously exploited and is currently banned FOR EXPLOITING said game ,wants you to play it.
They're getting around a way to get the murderer badge, and they all know it, which will make their punishments even worse. I've got a mail in to KFR to see how far I can take this. Personally, I want to go pretty far.
It's one thing to role play, its another thing to knowingly circumvent game mechanics to punish new players.
Thats from the dev known as Kanoth, by the way.Sadly the devs ignored this and other exploits by said person and his buddies, TIL he exploited in a way that they really didnt like.
Than they banned him, and he came here to cry about it.

its GETTING skills that needs 2 people. Also i would really love to see maybe a vid of RV combat nowadays to prove that, there is supposedly no lag during combat...... Lieing is one thing, but when it comes to lieing about a game, makeing someone think that combat is done and the full beta of the game is worth 40$, is another thing.

People who are funny, should be laughed at. And yes, crafter are not safe at all in the game.BUT contrary to someones "RECKONING" many fighters dont kill crafters or any players that are not armed. I do indeed wear that badge with honour, but the fact that that bug is given regardless of wether the other combatant is armed or not in many cases makes this whole thing laughable. what was I doing to circumvent this badge anyway? I honestly can't see the point of it and have got the criminal badge many many times, as have all other fighters in this game.. regardless of purpose or intent. I believe you're probably talking about bleeding someone out, wich has far worse purpetrators. your crusade against me is laughable, tkobo.
Furthermore, kanoth isn't a dev, he's a community liason, quite different. everyone exploits on a daily basis, playing the game itself is exploiting, as far too often the game is unplayable without it. When bugs do get reported, they are all too often ignored and the thread locked, think of the "pells aren't bugged, they work perfectly" debacle.
Furthermre, your leading statement is misleading, because of the fact that I was not banned for killing crafters, or anything related to killing crafters, nor had I at that point killed anybody ingame for months. I do advise people to play this buggy excuse for a game, however, because it is a game I love. stop trying to convince the world that I'm an evil bastard, as that was proven years ago, instead, shut up and troll somebody else instead.. if you want confirmation you're a troll, ask zakke, I know for certain he isn't 'an idiot like me, who spouts priceless drivel every five minutes in a completely unreasonable way'
But it is interesting that he claims "everyone exploits on a daily basis, playing the game itself is exploiting, as far too often the game is unplayable without it"
More "reckoning" it seems in the form of inaccurate "justification".
Too funny, denial in the form of misdirection. But it is interesting that he claims "everyone exploits on a daily basis, playing the game itself is exploiting, as far too often the game is unplayable without it" More "reckoning" it seems in the form of inaccurate "justification".
As it is nowhere stated that I 'reckon' or believe it to be so', You are the one who is reckoning and therefore a hypocrit.
this is not justification, this is fact, ask anyone who actually plays the game... the broken game mechanics force players through other routes...
didn't realize that crafters weren't safe. So fighting is all lagged, and if you try to craft, you will get ganked constantly. I will definately pass on this game now. Tkobo , you made some good points. But don't put hahahahah everywhere in your posts. It makes you look really childish.
If you try to craft, you will get ganked constantly? I'm not going to bother reading all preceding posts in this thread but did somebody say that? It is simply not true. Speaking for the roman side, if you wander away from the protection of the town guards to 'craft' for long periods day after day and go afk and such not keeping a watch, you will most likely get ganked by barb raiders maybe once day in the current hostile environment. But, if you keep your wits about you and run to safety when you see raiders enter the board, you'll be fine. There is a lot of crafting that can be done inside the town.
