Screaming Bee LLC has announced the release of an enhanced version of MorphVOX Pro Voice Changer, their software tool that was designed with online gamers in mind, which allows users to change their voice's pitch by more than two octaves.
Middleton, WI (5/10/07) - Screaming Bee LLC is pleased to announce the release of an enhanced version of MorphVOX Pro Voice Changer. This software tool provides voice morphing to online games, instant messaging, and the professional studio. The software's new "Adaptive Clarity" feature introduces extended pitch-modification capabilities and superior audio quality.
"We are quite happy with the enhancements to MorphVOX Pro," says Mark Ramirez, CEO of Screaming Bee. He adds, "With Adaptive Clarity, your online game characters and your multimedia voice-overs will sound amazingly clear."
The Adaptive Clarity upgrade is a significant breakthrough. The new algorithm can shift a voice's pitch more than two octaves with excellent quality, while using minimal computer resources. As a result, the audio output of MorphVOX Pro is crystal clear and vibrant.
MorphVOX Pro enhances online game communication. Online gamers can now sound like the character they play, whether they choose to be an enormous giant or a grumpy dwarf. Additional voice, sound, and background packs provide even more content for the program. MorphVOX Pro can be used with games like World of Warcraft, Second Life, EVE Online, EverQuest 2, Guild Wars, Counter-Strike and many more. It also works well with chat programs such as Xfire, TeamSpeak, Skype, Google Talk, Yahoo Messenger, AOL Messenger, and Ventrilo.
MorphVOX Pro can also morph an existing audio file or record a voice directly to file. The program's simple and intuitive interface makes it easy for users to create voice-overs or narrations. Studios that use this tool can save time and potentially thousands of dollars by creating multiple voices from existing stock audio or a single voice talent. MorphVOX Pro is used by professionals in a number of fields, including education, radio broadcast, and animation.

i have used morphvox for a while now, and it really is a greta tool to add a layer of RP. For example, in ddo when I used to play with my warforge, I used to have this cool robot voice and people loved it. I was also built with scrapped volvo parts...
Oh the gender benders are just going to love this. We had a guy in our guild who would not use vent because he claimed it would not work on his computer, but he just want anyone to know he was really a guy. You meet some funny people in these games.
It sounds like a fun tool and useful in a way for RP'ers BUT yes my first thought was well here goes all the guys that play girl toons and want folks to think they are female for some reason.
Ah well, it just means that using voice to verify if someone is really a male or female will no longer be applicable.
I think it will also be a useful tool for parents who don't want people to know how young their kids are, and girls who'd rather not reveal their genders.
I like the idea of sounding like my male dwarf in DDO. I don't need complete strangers to know that the person behind my dwarven warrior is a woman.

I also tried this with role playing. Me and my old guild leader in the Undead [UD] were going to shout orders with one of those dark voices (don't remember which exactly) and we played around with it a lot. Sadly the time period to try it expired and then we lost interest. It's still very good for role players.
But it just reminds me of something. "What's your favorite Scary movie?"

Curt teh Juggler: our graduation ceremony was today, and right when some gamer nerd got his diploma, someone in the audience played the zelda "get item" music and he did the zelda spin-hold-out-item stance
Curt teh Juggler: it was quite possibly the most amazing thing ever.
There's a typo on the word, "Enhanced" or, as you spelt it, "Enahnced"
I do think gender-bending will be its primary use but I can see others. Since the difference between the ways that males and females talk is not solely pitch, I still think people will be able to tell to some degree. It will certainly weed out the guys who only play female toons "because they want something pretty to look at" while they play. No need for female voice modulation if that's the case. /chuckle Not that I see anything wrong with people playing opposite-gender toons for any reason...I just like things to be honest.
I am somewhat concerned about kids passing as adults, though. I hope that doesn't become more of a problem than it already is. I feel people are only somewhat onboard with protecting children in MMOs via text. With everyone sounding like adults, people might get more lax.
