Ok you need to know that guild wars is creeping in Slowly its due to come out October 10th 2004 so if I were you id reserve my copy as fast as I can mostly at gamestop because you get free shipping.

Not only that you need to think what of the 6 character classes you're going to be You can find that information and the skills list at guildwars.com

If you think you're done thinking and think your all hot stuff cause your ahead of the game you also need to think what kind of guild your going to be or if youre going to go solo

Lastly I need to point out the greatness of this game you can make your own guild its free online and the graphics are absoloutley astonishing you should most definetly get this game.

Don't wanna burst your bubble, but I can assure you that there is NOT a release date set. It's still only alpha after all. August 2nd isn't even plausible for a release date, but hopefully, open beta might be up by then (though closed is more likely). Other than that, I fully agree with the post.

I'm sorry to say, that August 2nd "Release Date" really isn't true. We love the enthusiasm and the support, though, and as long as everyone knows it'll be after August 2nd, it's great to encourage people to be watching for the date, preordering from their favourite retailer, clipping coupons for frozen food to eat while playing 24/7, etc.

Like Gaile said, it would be great for Guild Wars to come out in August, let alone September. What we CAN hope for is that beta will start by then to let a select few get to play Guild Wars before it comes out.

You do realize all those release dates are bogus right? NOBODY knows when the game will release yet, not even ANet. It's all just pointless speculation at this time. Personally, I'd bet on a holiday-season release, but sooner would be nice. We'll just have to see.

Mittens - Senior Producer

Hello! My name is Tim Holman, the Senior Producer for Middle-Earth Online. Ive always loved The Lord of the Rings since I was a kid, and Im extremely excited to be working on a game based on these books. Everyone on the team is just as starry-eyed, and together were doing some great work.

As Senior Producer I am responsible for the high level vision of Middle-Earth Online. I make sure that everything in the game is fun, appropriate, and consistent.

The Extension

A few weeks ago we delivered the one-two punch of announcing that Middle-Earth Online would not release in 2004 and not showing the game at E3.

You can see from the above add copied "today" from Gamestop.com and the Developer comments made weeks ago that Gamestop is not exactly accurate with their release dates.

Oh, and just a modest correction: "And then it says to check on guildwars.com for official news and wait until the final version that comes out in november." While it's true that we do encourage people to check the official site for news, we need to make sure that the sentence isn't misread to say that we have made a release date announcement. What you just aren't grasping is that ANY release date you see on any site at this point in time is NOT real. They made it up. It's an estimation and nothing more. That information simply doesn't exist yet because the game isn't far enough in development yet. When it gets towards the end of open beta, a release date will be more realistic, but that won't be for quite a while still, as it's still in closed alpha. When ArenaNet (the developers) post a release date on their site, or on the official guild wars site, then you can trust that. But anything else right now, such as gamestop, they're just speculating and pulling the date out of their butt. This is common knowledge.

This isn't a difficult concept to understand, but if you still don't, well too bad for you. I tried to straighten you out so you wouldn't make even more of a fool out of yourself, but you still did anyway and even resorted to name-calling. I hope the game does indeed come out soon. And I hope you enjoy it as much as the rest of us. But as someone with your obvious level of intelligence and maturity, I hope I never end up playing with you.

You know all the release dates for GW on websites and magazines are not true cause it is an estimation and unless the release date comes from Anet i would not believe it cause it most likely is not true.

Don't antagonize this kid, you can easily tell his age. No matter what you try to get through his thick skull he'll think he's right. Let him think it's coming out in october and if it does great, but if it doesn't well then we can laugh at him while he cries himself to sleep at night.

Well just keep watching the game. It has come QUITE a long way from when I first started watching it a year ago. They are moving along very nicely, speeding towards an eventual release. Don't know when that release, or even when the beta, will be. But I think we're all crossing our fingers that the beta will go up sometime soon. There will be a closed, and then open beta. The open beta will basically be the last step before retail, so it should be mostly complete by then. It's still unknown when closed beta will even start though, much less anything beyond that.

You know the saying "a watched pot never boils", well that's what it feels like sometimes waiting for GW. Or it did for the past year, for us non-alpha testers at least. But the further along they get, the faster it seems to be getting. Especially post-E3, we know that that pot is indeed boiling. Not much news in the past couple weeks, but we do know that ANet is very busy adding all sort of new content and features. They're still trying to decide what they want to settle on for a leveling system, but otherwise I think it's coming along pretty steadily. The E3 demo was nothing compared to what it will be next time we get to play it (either open beta or retail).
