i love exploring and getting lost in games so my question is this

is this game gonna be big  (land size) and would i get lost some (preferably most) of the time?

to compare i like the sound of Lord of the rings but it does seem a bit small atm and WoW was tiny lands and really hard to get lost in

MMO wish list:

-Changeable worlds
-Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads

You can always turn off you mini map and not use the world map :)

...but no, I dont know the answer to your question.   I also would like to know how big the instanced parts are as well.

hehe i always play with the minimap off...as for the world map i only use that when i think its appropriate (e.g in a town or tavern where i could gather the info or get the map)

my main problem with WoW was there was always a road to lead you thru the zone and always some safe haven in the lands...totally unrealistic

A.) Ingame land is over 300 thousand acres of equivalent space according to an admittedly outdated article. It could be, and probably is by now, much bigger. Pretty much every inch of it is explorable, and the only real path we have ever seen was either in a town, or part of the noob island, where they can't afford to have new players get lost too much/too often.

B.) On the other hand, it is divided up into zones, big as hell zones, but still zones. I believe it will be entirely possible to get completely lost, but you will hit a wall before you can manage to wander across the continent.

No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

Any idea how big Anarchy Online is Aelfinn?  If AOC has a land mass even close to that I will be a very very happy man.

You see, every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with their surrounding environment, but you humans do not. You spread to an area, and you multiply, and you multiply, until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet.-Mr.Smith

I wish I did know. However, WOW has been estimated at about 70 to 90 thousand acres, including both continents. That should give you a sense of scale.

AoC is about 185 square miles.

    I do believe that's about 118,400 Acres.

Last number I saw was about 85 square miles, which would be 54,000 acres, although that was a guesstimate as to the 85.
