I'm confused.  Why would you expect others to know what you like or don't like about a game.  Only you can answer that question.

With PvE raiding, it has never been a question of being "good enough". I play games to have fun, not to be a simpering toady sitting through hour after hour of mind numbing boredom and fawning over a guild master in the hopes that he will condescend to reward me with shiny bits of loot. But in games where those people get the highest progression, anyone who doesn't do that will just be a moving target for them and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay money for the privilege. - Neanderthal

that had nothign to do with what I asked.

I said is the game worth coming back to. So obviously I love or like EQ. But how is the player base now a days. Is it a desert or is it still fun to play.

    To be honest, no.

At your level, you will struggle to advance, find groups (if you ever find a group), and experience the game.  Everquest is such a forced-grouping game that without others to play with, you cannot play.  However, it is 1st generation.

I actually think I am leaving Everquest for good for Vanguard....

What server do you play on? I'm on maelyn and my guild is really active.. 10 to 15 people on during the night in the 50's range.. plus the population on the server doesn't seem that low, at peak hours usually about 60 people in the pok, not counting GL. But other than those times, depending when you play you might have a hard time finding a group. Do some research, if you really want to come back find a server that best fits you. You can always do a character transfer.

It will be hard, expect to be making your own groups, don't expect someone inviting you.

Expect to spend a lot, and I mean a lot of time, we're talking months here, you need AA's, flags etc, to catch up with the rest of the population.

You will be the only one around lvl 55 on the server on off-hours. On peak hours you might be able to find a group, it all depends.

Just know it's a lot of work, I did say "work" here =).

If that doesn't discourage you at all, go ahead, just a fair warning.

And w/e you do, don't ask this question on the official Everquest boards. People won't respond fair to your question.

For your lvl, it's deserted, if anyone says it's not, they're lying.

Does that mean there's noone there? No, there's still people around your level.

Are they alone or just starting out, or mains? No, they're usually alts getting PL'd.

Aye, it will be work. But that is one thing i love about eq..you HAVE to work for your toon to be good. I won't say its impossible but you don't usually find noobs at lvl 70. Pretty much every toon you find in the end games knows what there job is and how to do it.  The work part of this game is what in my opinion seperates it from so many others..most other mmo's i've played anyone that simply puts time into the game can reach the high end, in this game it usually isn't that easy. If your really wanting to return and not mind rerolling..send me a pm and i'll hook up with you on Maelin.
