...what server is most active nowaydays?

Like somany, ive quit after CU and tried numerous other mmorpg but always comparing with my true and lost love : Swg

Now i want to try it out again but i prefer to start all over rather then to pickup where i quit, i was on EU-Chimerea but am wondering if its still a good idea to start again on that server. What server is most active today, and would it be wise to pick a US server (iam thinking Bria, that seems very active if i look at the official server posts) instead of a EU server?

Thanks in advance,

Varath

I dont want to ruin your hope to return but:

    1. all servers are very light most of the time

    2. economie is fucked up, everyone is running arround with jetpacks, full sets of mando armor and hundrets of millions on their accounts

    3. a good item costs about 20 - 40 million credits

    4. everything that used to make this game complex has been taken away (32 professions reduced to 9)

    5. no complexity, no diversity, no aestethics, key elements that make a mmorpg fun have been taken away with the NGE, clothes look ugly because looted clothes with good stats get random style and colors and you cant influcence that...

    5. empty cities and almost nobody to interact with except afk musicians in mos eisley

so why the hell should you ever consider to pay 15 bucks for this piece of shit ?

bring it on fanbois, I gave you 5 good points why this game is not worth shit, now give me only 1 good reason why the op of this thread should play this game ?

oh and veterans get told "shut the fuck up and go and play something else" or "dont foget to close the door when you leave", this is how far we have come, NGE-fanbois telling vets to shut the fuck up...

That would depend on how you play, or what you're looking for.  Population wise, Bria is probably at the top.  PvP would be Bria, Chilastra, and one other i can't remember. Space combat used to be starsider. RPing, take your pick- sunrunner used to be the RP server, but population there is nill to what it used to be.

I recommend you to play lord of the rings online,

lord of the rings online is not 10 % as complex as pre-cu star wars galaxies was but:

I found myself having a really good time in lord of the rings online, simply because it is really fun to play, even if its not complex and linear most of the time, but the quests are fun and the athmosphare and the world makes a lot of fun to explore...

you get mounts in lotro and the first free expansion is announced for june 2007.

you can creature-handle pets as lore-master and get some nice spells and can debuff your enemies, Im having a lot of fun as lore-master and enjoy lotro more than any other game since pre-cu star wars galaxies

housing will be added to lotro in the near future as well...

so if you want to try something new and cut the time until warhammer online or age of conan, then lord of the rings online is the right game for you..

Dont forget to mention that in LOTRO its very much like SWG at launch - no mounts or rides until level 35, so you have to run everywhere.... *YAWN*

    Thanks for your reply Yfara.

As for Pjay2K : Iam currently playing LotrO, i must say its a lovely game. The atmosphere, the rp'ing and the music system is very lovely, but its just 'more of the same'. The last few days i spend my time in the inn entertaining ppl with my selfmade music rather then iam out questing tho :). But still LotrO is a really good game and a worthy competitor for WoW

It does depend on what you are looking for to what server is best, the best PvP server is actually Valcyn and has been top of the PvP stats consistantly for a long time now, but I do believe bria is the most populated, some people like to run this game game but give it a try yourself and make up your own mind, if you want to start a toon on Valcyn look me up me and the guild I am a part of will help you anyway we can.

If you're looking at 4am in the morning, then yes but that's how it's always been.  If you look during prime time, you'll see that there are a variety of heavy, medium and light servers.
    2. economie is fucked up, everyone is running arround with jetpacks, full sets of mando armor and hundrets of millions on their accounts
At this point in the game (being 4 years old), having a large number of people with these items is unavoidable.
    3. a good item costs about 20 - 40 million credits
This is a rathe broad statement.  There are a large number of factors that determines the price on things, such as what the item is and what server you're on.
    4. everything that used to make this game complex has been taken away (32 professions reduced to 9)
Um, no.  There's the space game, crafting, player cities, resources, player events, etc.
    5. no complexity, no diversity, no aestethics, key elements that make a mmorpg fun have been taken away with the NGE, clothes look ugly because looted clothes with good stats get random style and colors and you cant influcence that...
From what I see out there, SWG is still one of the more complex games out there with the varrying amounts of mini-games that are held within the main game.  Diversity is available with expertise and the huge combinations of armour and clothing available.  There's no need to rely only on looted clothing and armour for stats as these can be made by crafters.
    5. empty cities and almost nobody to interact with except afk musicians in mos eisley
I interact with many, many people in game on a daily basis and I spend 99% of my time out of Mos Eisley.

looted stuff is still close to equal with crafted (just go out to the DWB you'll get very good stuff there), you dont HAVE to visit a trader unless its for a spaceship as that cant be looted....weapon smith is even useless, Expertise is a good joke for diversity..almost everyone has the same template as that is the best to get things done.

There are usually around 8 sitting on medium and 2 or 3 hitting Heavy.  The others are on Light.  No, this isn't SWG's busiest time, but it's certainly an improvement over what it was a year ago.
    2. economie is fucked up, everyone is running arround with jetpacks, full sets of mando armor and hundrets of millions on their accounts

I have a Munitions crafter, I too know what I'm saying ;)  My armour waiting list is a few days long now.  Factory crates worth of armour I put on the vendors usually sells within a week.  If I let it, AS'ing could consume my entire in game time.  I know I'm not the only crafter like this, I know many others like this too.
    3. a good item costs about 20 - 40 million credits

If people are buying the items, then it's not really an issue, is it?  If people are able to buy the items that are listed for "insane" prices, then the ability to make that many credits exists.
    4. everything that used to make this game complex has been taken away (32 professions reduced to 9)
Um, no.  There's the space game, crafting, player cities, resources, player events, etc.

So let me understand this.  You're saying that spending weeks upon weeks killing NPC's to get a perfect match of looted armour (which will still have crap resists and colours) or clothing (which will have crap colours) is close or equal to the crafter option?   Let's also not forget that stuff you get from a crafter can have 3 stats with a value up to +35 compared to loot items which can only get up to +25 with having 2 stats or more at +25 being incredibly rare.  This is a no brainer to me:  if you want decent stat items you go to a crafter.
Yes, weaponsmith doesn't really have much of a market right now, but it's the only crafting profession in this position.  Everything else is made better by a crafter or can ONLY be obtained through a crafter.
    5. empty cities and almost nobody to interact with except afk musicians in mos eisley
I interact with many, many people in game on a daily basis and I spend 99% of my time out of Mos Eisley.

Yes, because they're abandoned cities.  No one has ever said there isn't abandoned cities, that's WHY everyone has been wanting a housing purge so the old can be wiped out and active people can actually make new, active cities.

Hey I love this, I have a structures trader and I know its slow,, what are you crafting ? nothing but sofas I am guessing, I have a structures trader and worked hard for some time getting my stocks up,and now if I keep it going ( I sometimes drop behind as I play combat a lot) I make 4-5 mil a day and have tonnes of people buying from my vendors. so the economy is alive and well, yeah there is a lot of credit in the system but the game is nearly 4 years old thats to be expected

obraik enjoys this game and I respect that...

but never ever will I support a company like Sony Online Entertainement... we're talking about a company who sacrificed 90 % of the community only because world of warcraft had about 5 million customers at the beginning of 2005 and they were trying to find a way to compete with WoW's numbers..

we are talking about the same company who made statements like: "we really needed to make the players feel like han solo or luke skywalker instead their own stories and introduce linear quests like get 7 of x and give it to Y"

we are talking about the same company who made statements like: "so you just sat arround a camp and it was fun?"

you can't make drastical decissions that change the game 250.000 people love without even playing it once..

and if you support this game by paying 15 bucks each month, then you get what you deserve...

sorry but if I wanted to play alone, I can pull out my game boy and play tetris instead of star wars galaxies..

No one is asking you to support them.  Just don't post stuff that you assume to be fact when you haven't actually played the game anytime recently to know what's really going on.

I am on Valcyn and I craft Elite minning installations (server Cap) as well as crafting stations also server cap, I have nearly every piece of craftable furniture on my vendors for about 250 credits a piece as well as every house and building in game , My crafter works hard and as a result I have many people visiting the guild store because I keep the vendors stocked at all times.

As I said I play on Valcyn and it has a very decent community and some great players, also before you take a shout at my prices last i checked my Elite harvs were half the price of anyone else's so it isnt because I charge a lot that I make money its because I work at it.

To the OP.  I hope this quote lets you know that the poster is simply disgruntled and what he is posting is not very accurate at all.

My domestics trader on bloodfin can't keep up with all of the custom clothing orders I have at the moment. Of course that is due to the skill tapes added in them. However like Obriak mentioned to have a set of cool looking clothing that matches and is hand picked with 3 stats of your choice at +35 mods on them ( and thats for everything shirt, hat, pants, boots, gloves, ect......) Yea let's see them or anyone find some looted clothes better than that.

The populations are increasing again still not what we had before, but the game is 4 yrs old now. Not many games that I know of have a population that is the same as when they where fresh and new. Please let me know if you know of any.

The economy can make me aggitated at times. Certain things are over priced. The biggest problem with the economy is even if someone does list something at a fair price the ones who are selling items for rediculous amounts of credits will scoop them up and then relist them at that rediculous price again.

Don't let the hatred of some talk you out of something you might enjoy .

Also remember if the UI bothers you when you try the game it can be switched very easily to resemble the UI of old.

Anyway like everyone says check out the free trial best way to go if you are unsure.

Good post mate, i alrdy resubbed a few hours ago (didnt bother DL the 4,5g trial) and tonight ill be starting a new char on prolly Bria with my RL friend and see how the game changed.

As somany ppl here like to dis SoE, please remember its Lucasarts who drove SoE into changing the game, not SoE. I agree SoE might not always been fair with us but still, they made the best mmorpg's today that no1 cant even get close to (ok ok cept WoW then....sigh)

we meet again in 12 months on mmorpg.com and you tell me I'm wrong and we will see how much lies I had in my threads..
what do you think about that ?

I will tell you what I think about it. I think I have been hearing the same song and dance from the people that can't move on for almost 2yrs now.

I will be here in a year i'm sure and we will hear the same thing again then.   And I am sure SWG will still be going.  But if not well then maybe all the disgruntled people will be able to move on.

Hey if you bet on red everytime on the roulette table you eventually get it right.

Anybody who starts talking about someone talking real tough behind a keyboard needs to seriously think about and reevaluate that statement.

My background: I played the game from launch until the first week of the NGE. I cancelled my 3 accounts a week after the NGE because I didn't care much for the changes. I resubbed one of my accounts a couple of weeks ago and have become re-addicted. I've been playing 4-6 hours a day, everyday. And I can't wait to get home later and play more. I resubbed a second account so I could set up a medic and entertainer buff bot. Yes, buffs are back in the game and make a huge difference in combat now -- just like pre-NGE. I have no need to resub my 3rd account since the NGE now gives you 2 chars per account. I can't wait for Publish 6 to come out this week. The changes coming in it look amazing!

    Now, to address your questions:

"all servers are very light most of the time"

I can't speak for all servers, but I know that Ahazi is pretty full of people during prime time. All the hanging out is happening in Mos Eisley now. The lag is so bad during prime time because there must be at least a hundred people hanging out at the place.

"economie (sic) is ****ed up, everyone is running arround (sic) with jetpacks, full sets of mando armor and hundrets (sic) of millions on their accounts"

I saw a guy with a jetpack once the whole week. I saw a couple of guys with partial suits of mando (just the helmet) a few times this week. Those that do have them are players who have had over a year and millions of credits saved up over the years to buy the parts needed to make mando pieces. If it took them years of saving and crafting, why wouldn't they be allowed to have a suit?

"a good item costs about 20-40 million credits"

yeah? i remember pre-CU when capped stun armor cost a good proportion of the money in circulation as well. you certainly won't be able to buy a good item from money earned from running kunga missions out of the mining outpost. but what has happened is that earning credits has moved from mission terminals to actual players hiring other players. earning money has scaled as well. for instance, the odds of looting a jetpack base from a black sun is roughly 1 in 500. the going rate for a JPB is 40 million credits. if you killed 500 black sun, then, in essence, you're getting paid 80,000 credits per kill -- with the chance of looting more than one, which would increase your payout per kill to 160,000 credits a head. not bad and way better than running kunga missions like back in the day.

"everything that used to make this game complex has been taken away (32 professions reduced to 9)"

it depends on what you mean by complexity. pre-NGE there certainly more options, however not all the options produced optimum efficiency, and players tended to gravitate towards the most efficient way to do things. so in essence there really wasn't this great complexity that you speak of since all players did a certain task a certain way. for instance, sure there were 32 professions, but there was really was only a couple type of combat builds that everyone played. pre-NGE you were either a swordsman/doctor, or a rifleman/combat medic. any other combat build paled in comparison and no one else played anything else except the roleplayers who didn't care.

"no complexity, no diversity, no aesthetics, key elements that make a mmorpg fun have been taken away with the NGE, clothes look ugly because looted clothes with good stats get random style and colors and you can't influence that..."

okay, this point that you make tells me that you haven't played the game for months, thus you really lost a lot of credibility. SEA's, CA's, and PUP's have been added back into the game and make a HUGE difference in combat -- just like pre-NGE. there is immense complexity in the choices you can make regarding gear.

"empty cities and almost nobody to interact with except afk musicians in mos eisley"

player cities were empty even pre-NGE. entertainers are not AFK because the only way they can buff you is ATK. as said earlier, mos eisley is hoppin'.

"so why the **** should i pay 15 bucks for this piece of ****?"

because the game is fun again and is getting better, ... and ... 15 bucks is chump change. i spend that much everyday on breakfast and coffee. seriously though, you haven't even tried the game in months and don't know what you're talking about. i believe the game is starting a renaissance and you should give it another look with an open mind. if you resub with your bitter attitude you won't have fun.

dont want to ruin your hope to return but:

    1. all servers are very light most of the time

    2. economie is fucked up, everyone is running arround with jetpacks, full sets of mando armor and hundrets of millions on their accounts

    3. a good item costs about 20 - 40 million credits

    4. everything that used to make this game complex has been taken away (32 professions reduced to 9)

    5. no complexity, no diversity, no aestethics, key elements that make a mmorpg fun have been taken away with the NGE, clothes look ugly because looted clothes with good stats get random style and colors and you cant influcence that...

    5. empty cities and almost nobody to interact with except afk musicians in mos eisley

so why the hell should you ever consider to pay 15 bucks for this piece of shit ?

bring it on fanbois, I gave you 5 good points why this game is not worth shit, now give me only 1 good reason why the op of this thread should play this game ?

oh and veterans get told "shut the fuck up and go and play something else" or "dont foget to close the door when you leave", this is how far we have come, NGE-fanbois telling vets to shut the fuck up...
