Faith System?

I don't know if anyone has heard anything more, but so far I have heard that the Gods have dissappeared in EQ2.  Now since that happened why is the main site putting up information on each races faith and religion past and devoted Gods.  Do you think that during creation we might have to pick a faith?  That seems pointless since the Gods are still missing.  I think that if/when they do return that would be the time to choose again.  Has anyone heard anything more or maybe seen a screenshot or something on Character Creation where they've seen a faith listing?

    That is pretty intrigueing, I never saw a point in having a faith in the first place on EQ b/c it made no real impact upon your character, but I'll look around and c if I cant find something.

    if the Gods have disappeared , maybe the more ppl that have faith in them will bring them back, the more followers the stronger the God comes back. Could be

    Could also be that the Gods will hand out quest to there followers at diff lvls or random. and could give a special spell or weapon or armor.

    Well originally the only thing the faith system did in Everquest had effect factions.  Having such faith followings could make you less like to be kos or dubious in freeport as a dark elf or barbarian.  And I remember if you were agnostic, sometimes you had benefits from not raising aggro in less friendly places.  Later on they had religious accessories and such that could only be worn by certain faiths.  Then I *think* in certain planes certain followings had certain quests (ie: Tunare followers had them in PoG etc.)  I'd be interested to see if faith following gives way to quests, or like the last person said, the stronger the following the stronger the God when they come back.

    I have heard... That the gods are in hiding, taking the forms of the playable races of Norath and are in the 2 main cities.  SO they could possibly be guidiing us all the time without our knowledge.
