Wow! It’s been a whole year since Krypteia came into being. We started with nothing more than a humble post in the Age of Conan boards and a fresh idea about what a guild should be and how it should be run. A short year later, we’ve amassed a large and formidable army ready to dominate the Border Kingdoms of Hyboria!
To celebrate our anniversary in style, the way only Krypteia can, we’ve teamed up with Conan Chronicles to give you a chance to win A BRAND NEW nVIDIA 8800 GTS VIDEO CARD* or cash equivalent!
Because this is a substantial prize we can’t make it as easy as our previous contests.
We’ll be giving the prize to the individual or group who creates the best guild video for Krypteia. We’re looking for a video that reflects the unique character and feel of our guild. So if you have some video editing skills, this is a great opportunity to show off your creativity and win a great prize.
The deadline to submit an entry is 11:59pm EST on July 5th, giving you a full 2 months to make a video. After the deadline, all entries will be displayed at Conan Chronicles for 2 weeks, where the Age of Conan community will be able to vote for their favorite video. A winner will then be selected from the five highest voted videos by the guild leaders of Krypteia and announced on Friday July, 20th.
RULES
- This contest is open to all Age of Conan fans worldwide (you do not need to be a member of Krypteia to enter the contest).
- All entries must be submitted no later than July 5th, 2007 11:59pm Eastern Time.
- We are only accepting a maximum of 2 entries per individual.
- Entries should be submitted as a direct download link in a Private Message to Arakian on the Krytpeia forums (private FTP transfer can be arranged for those unable to provide a direct download link, but please contact us about this in advance of the deadline).
- Please provide the full quality version of your video (not a streaming youtube link!).
- By submitting a video in this contest, you agree to relinquish any intellectual property rights you have over the video. The submitted video will become the express property of the Krypteia guild, which will be free to use, modify, and exhibit the video in any way they see fit.
- Feel free to use any public domain media you can get your grubby fingers on.
- DO NOT COPY ANOTHER GUILD’S VIDEO. We are looking for original submissions only.
- Winners from North America will have the option of either accepting an nVidia 8800 GTS video card* delivered to them, or of accepting a cash equivalent. The cash equivalent will be based on the newegg.com price for video card on July 20th, 2007 without shipping and minus any rebates. The cash equivalent will be transferred to the winner by PayPal or mailed as a money order. International winners outside of North America will only have the option of accepting the cash equivalent.
- The winner will be selected by the guild leaders of Krypteia and announced on July 20th. The winner will be contacted by email (at the email address they used to register on the Krypteia boards). They will have 48 hours to confirm their acceptance, or another winner will be chosen.
- We reserve the right to change the contest details and/or substance without warning.

Will guild member submitted videos have an advantage over non-guild member submitted videos in terms of the selection of the winner?
No. Other than their unquestionable intelligence and demonstrable good taste in choosing to join Krypteia, our members will have no unfair advantage.
Are you seriously giving away an NVIDIA 8800 GTS video card? Are you insane?
Yes, we are (seriously giving away a video card that is). Madness? ... This is KRYPTEIA!
What is your policy towards the use of copyright material in submitted videos?
We're pretty much trusting the submitters to only use material they are within their rights to use. Realistically we're not going to be able to hunt down and check the copyright information on all of the material submitted. Small clips from movies or music from copyrighted artists would likely fall under the fair use exemption for fan art. The video will be used for promotion of a not-for-profit guild. Considering the nature of the use and the limited exhibition the video will get, it can't seriously be considered to be damaging to the commercial success of the artist or copyright holder, and so should be okay. To be clear, however, it is the sole responsibility of the video submitters to only use material that they feel they are within their rights to use.
What format should the video be submitted in?
As long as we're able to play the video, any format should be okay (.WMV, .AVI, .MOV, and .MPG would be preferred formats).
