The only game I know that is worth a try is Neocron.
The graphics are old school looking(2001ish), But it gives a real apocolyptic earth feel, Also it runs really well on a crappy graphics card.
The game play is like a MMOFPS/RPG Mixture, it feels kinda weird but kinda realistic. There are tons of classes (Like 10+) Each with diffrence strengths and weaknesses so its a bunch of diffrent things you can do, Also there is this thing called Hack Net int he game which if you pick a hacker class you can go in and fight diffrent things (Dont know much about it). You get a free apartment when you enter the game which is cool, It has a bed/storage/computer The computer is relaly cool becuase it has a ingame message board and you can read up on diffrent things like the corperation that you in and stuff like that. Citys look cool its small and zones alot...But theres not alot of people playing the game, I guess its to complicated and as a SOE reprasenative once said "People dont want to read, They want to loggin, kill stuff, and loot" Which si why I think this game is a little unpopular, It has a small community of people, which...While I played for 3 days. I only saw about 5 people. I think most of hte players are at the max level. The game is really deep and the most coolest game I have ever seen like there is a Zoo inside the city where you can go watch random creatures, Theres computer lounges so you can go into the Hack Net or look on the message boards, There are Taxi's you can take around the city. You should give the Trial a spin, You need a creditcard tho and after the trial is up they charge you 20$.
Part of the reason for the lack of people is a) they're all max level and b) a lot of people abandoned it (including my friends & I) when they released Neocron 2.0 and had a whole sag of issues - most frustrating of which was the numerous roll backs, destroying all the work you'd just put in over the last day or two. After that I just lost the will to play or ever go back to it.
Don't know what its really like now, but I quite enjoyed it back when I did play it. Its PvP is creative - You start out with an implant that prevents you from attacking or being attacked by other players, but you can remove that when you're ready to PvP. Once you do remove it, there are few safe areas, but you can earn a bad 'rep' with the city security (making you a KOS target to them) so be careful.
As DragonSoul said, it is an innovative game and worth a look.
Is anarchy good? I'll try it and see, but if anyone has info on the games Exteel or Huxlwy, please let me know, both of these look like something I can get into.

And yeah, rollbacks turned me off completely about Neocron, I could never say its too complicated.
