Virginia tech rampage online game...what the heck?

So I opened my news website, like usual, and I noticed a new video called "Virginia tech video game". After watching the video, I found out that some guy made a game out of the shooting at virginia tech a while ago. His reason? He thought it was funny, and the negative responses to the game amuse him.

    There was one for collumbine as well...It was not meant to be a game that goes retail or anything like that. (that's NOT to say that I think it's all right)

    Newgrounds has never been known for good taste...I'm not surprised that they would host such a game.

    While I condone censorship and the stifling of idea's, this obviously lacks taste and is relying on shock value to get hits to its website. Shock went out with Marilyn Manson once everyone realized he was just a tall skinny geek who no one liked in high school. Do yourselves a favor and dont bother clicking on the link and adding to it's # of hits per day calculator.

    Why wuld someone do this to? he could be a terrorist there for hating america? imo i dont see why any1 would do such a thing makin a game out of something that shocked america!

    Dude who made the game demanded money to take it off (not that he had that power, lol), if I recall correctly. The guy's just an asshole.

    I can't help but feel sorry for someone who's illness pushes them to act that way.  It must be a sad life to live.

    Virginia Tech as an online game?  Let me see, an FPS shooter maybe, with all the opponents unarmed as the university dictated.  Shouldn't be a very challenging game.

    Lol, Super CollumbineRPG...I remember that. Beat it , pretty good game actually. After you kill yourself at the end you go down into hell and fight as demon gods.  Is this game also made with RPG maker? Or is it an RPG at all? The link didn't work when I tried it.

    I have to ask what exactly is the difference between this game and GTA? So its ok to beat hookers to death and assualt pedestrians as long as it is makebelieve? You can relate now when folks get thier panties twisted about games like GTA and you dont understand it. I think this is in poor taste sure, but come on like you couldnt see it coming. who cares?

    That's right...heh. Either you admit both are bad or you admit neither are. I personally don't give a damn about either. Most ppl like to pick and choose, when in reality it's the same thing, but they want to make themselves feel better about their decision by making up the differences between them. Watch, the post after me probably, "but this was a real tragedy"....."gta was just a fictional world"...heh, tragedy my ass, wanna hear the tragedy? that we have good people dying over in Iraq, FOR NOTHING. We have civillians being shot in crossfire, for NOTHING....yeah, that's the tragedy. The tragedy wasn't columbine either, the tragedy was the biggest air raid in the kosovo war, on the same day. In which a hospital and a school were blown up. America, get the hell over yourselves and your small little problems with depressed teenagers snapping and killing a few people... It's so much worse in other countries you have no clue. I don't condone what either gunmen did, but....come one, don't make a fuss over this if your not going to shed equal amount of tears for the innocence we've killed. The innocence your ancestors killed, the indians. Withought that slaughter none of you all would be here. You know what though, who cares about that....who cares that we destroyed a race's culture, something ten times worse then what hitler did....who cares, because some kid in a college snapped and killed a few people....yeah...

    So you're saying that a fictional story has the same effect as a recreation of a real tragedy?  Wrong.  You're talking about an event in which real people lost their lives, and you are saying that it's the same as a game with a made up story...Sorry but no.

    Ok lets use medal of honor instead. So you run around and kill germans and save the day right? Well my grandfather was in WWII and found nothing honorable or cool about killing germans. In fact he thought the idea of these games was sick. So why is no one crying about those games. I mean its real people and not made up right?

    I agree with his intent but does that make GTA or MOH ok because they didnt intent to offend. Road to hell friend is paved in well im sure you heard that before. Just stop giving this guy attention. I still wonder why its ok to pretend to maim people in a fantasy setting and then wrong for someone to recreate the same thing in a game based on real life? its still fantasy even if it is insensitive. killing pretend people hurts peoples sensabilities too.

    It has become a societal norm to use real life wars as backdrops for video games.  These are seen as okay things to use because they are historic events, and the games are made with the intent of giving the gammer an enjoyable experience, and maybe having them learn a little bit of history.  With a game like this, you're talking about something that exists to offend...as Nasica said, look to the intent.

    While we do have bigger problems and people are dying for nothing, that does not justify this game what so ever, these people where young and probably had there lives ahead of them. People shooting up the schools dont really deserve it its common for kids to be cruel of course that doesnt make it right but thats the parents fault for letting there kids fall into that kind of group of kids, basicly meaning the kids picking on the people who snap and shoot up the school.

     

    Pretty sad a person like you would play this game, shakes head you disgust me.

    I am not calling for the banning of anything.  I dont play the game so stop hating.  As for intent go read some Mills or Kant im done wit dis thread.
