I personally will not play Matrix Online for the simple fact that it takes place right after the last movie (if I'm not mistaken). Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't all the humans 'unplugged' at the end of Revolutions, or at least in the first stages of being awakened? If so, why the hell are they still around in the online game, especially if it takes place right after Revolutions?
I find it rather surprising that you already know it will suck when there is barely any information available. Why don't you wanna play it because it is after the third movie, i think that's a wise decision because everything starts over again, the one is dead so he will not be around for some while. I don't know how the game will be but i liked the movies for some part and if they get in what they said it will be nice i think but that will take some while. That's why i voted not sure yet.
One day all will die, surely you but never I.

you should watch the movie again....thats not how the movie ended at all.
Humans and machine simply made a truce...nothing more nothing less.
Only those who are aware of the matrix and still plugged in are free to leave. Those who don't know are still inside. If "outsider" still plug in to rescue those who dont know about the matrix, then the Agents are free to dispose of them.
But, like I said, watch the movies again

Well I was thinking about it, then when I say the screens and video I was like man this dont look half bad... Then I watched the video agian and noticed something I cant stand in alot of the low budget MMO's ( it drives me insane) and that is how they the characters were turning on there axis... That guy I saw turning looked like a druck duck.. Ewww chars dont turn they waddle, reminds me of Syga of rysom YUK.

It's an interesting concept for a game. My only complaint is the color scheme. Among other things, in the movie the colors in the end changed and were no longer green filtered, this game is still using the old matrix color scheme. There is also the fact that I'm not sure I want to look at that kind of washed out colored look for the next infinity number of hours I'm online playing it.
as far as gameplay is concerned, I don't know if it will hold up to CoH. We'll just have to wait and see.
Another thing im curious about is how you can tell the RPers from those who arent. The statement "I logged on to enter the Matrix" alone is confusing (-are you talking in RP-speak or regular talk?)
on a lighter note... Will hacking be a problem? (heh heh)

The truce at the end of Revolutions does not necessarily mean that humans will remain as slaves inside the Matrix. Also, let's not forget that the entire 'world' of the Matrix just woke up from the Agent Smith takeover, so I'm pretty sure that everyone knows that there's something seriously wrong going on without having to have 'outsiders' jack in and tell them. (Just imagine every single person on Earth suddenly having the old 'where did the last four hours go?' happen to them simultaneously and you'll get my point). Besides, what the hell kind of truce includes that one side still be imprisoned inside the Matrix? The way I interpreted the ending is that the Machines would begin to awaken all humans, and that man and machine would live together in the real world in relative peace. Anyway, the point of my original post is that, in my opinion, there really is NO POINT to the Matrix online game because it's set during the wrong timeline (just like SWG). If the game would take place before even the first Matrix film, say a few years before Morpheous and company awakened Neo, then I might be more interested in this product.
Oh all the negativity, and so few have actually check it properly. And "those who want out" will be released, the architecht said. "those who want out"...
Now the problem is that. There are three sides as a newly freed you can choose. Zionist, Machinist, and the Exiles.
Zionist of course wants to free all humans and destroy the matrix. But then there are the humans who like the matrix, just like Cypher, and wish to keep it, the Machinists. And then there are those who work for the Exiles, only working for domination of the matrix itself, like Merovingian.
Thats why things still are happening. And what players from the different sides do, missions and such, will have some effect on the continuing story line. So this isn't a linear thing. Missions are cool to, because they arent instanced missions. MxO is in a huge city, with skyscrapers and such. And all of the buildings are accessible. So when you are given a mission, you will go the the floor or room you are pointed to in one of these buildings, and as soon as you enter it, that floor or room will be unavailable to other players. Locked doors is only natural you know, so the mission systems actually would give a more realistic feel.
You can only be human of course. No player programs.

i personally won't play this game because (as sarno said) it takes place in a bad time of the matrix series, so i personally think it ruins the whole purpose of the game

Sorry, but the truce does involve leaving anyone who does not know of there situation, to stay plugged in. For gods sake, remember, that is how the machinges get power!.
Now is this a bad time to start the game? Absolutlely not. This game, will be what we make of it. Sounds corny, but if it falls right, we might give reason for a new trilogy? Why can't we make the best story ever???? I personally was not excited by the games hype so far, but reading why people dislike it, has gotten me to like the idea even more
Releasing millions upon millions of humans from the matrix would cause psychological shock, possibly killing millions due to shock alone, and those that survive the shock have nowhere to go but Zion. Remember, Earth is now uninhabitable, "the desert of the real". The surface is dark, cold and lifeless. Zion is not large enough to provide for these people.
I most definately will be playing this game whether I get into beta or not as I enjoyed the storyline and all 3 movies. Hell, maybe even I can get my wife to play with me.
I think this game is going to have alot if mixed feelings, as you can see from this post and poll. Heres the goods and bads about the game from a non-beta testing person who just wants to get his opions out...
Pros:
Most likely will have a very nice character customization as i can see from screenshots.
Graphics look very nice and im sure sround will be too.
Awsome fighting moves, i am sure upgrades will be in the chatagories of cool fighting..
Also i love customizing characters ( in terms of weapons they use through out game)in this game you can probly do differnetn guns and stuff, though i guess we wil have to see what they do with it
there are more i am just too lazy to list...
Cons:
I generally dont like mmorpgs that are based on movies do the way its plot will be shown. I dont see how the matrix online will be able to portray the plot after the threat of the agents is over and all that jive in the movie. I guess it wil have to take place when the war was still going on. Im not sure about that.
One awsome aspect of the xbox matrix game was focus mode (slow-motion). In that mode you could do awsome dives while shooting and run up walls, pretty much somehting i would do for hours with the same lvl over and over again. But i dont see how they can make you go into slow motion mode with so many people. Maybe they could work out a system...
One last thing is the MOST IMPORTANT!!! In the most succesful of games over long periods of time, one key is needed, DEPTH. The game city of heros got boring after 2 weeks because it contained no depth, no reason to keep going. all you can do is fight, fight, and fight some more. You could get new powers but after fly it was over for me. In this game i think it would be awsome to incorperate another depth key to it like building stuff, or equipping your guy with guns, and loot and a shop system to buy stuff. These key elements are the most important thing in any mmorpg to become succeful.
Now that was just my opinion, give me back some feedback about what you thought about my reponse.
I'll see if I can answer some of your possible cons..
The storyline that goes on is less about the machines, and moe about humans against each other. The problem is that the Zionists want to the destroy the matrix, while the machinists wants to keep it, while those who work for the Exiles just want to rule inside the matrix.
There are still agents. The truce never included having Zionists freeing minds who didn't realize it themselves, or destroying the matrix. There are several screenshots with agent fights.
Bullet time has been worked around, and rather nicely too. Bullet time sequences doesn't take THAT long, so while you see yourself performing a bullet time fly kick or whatever, your opponent just sees you as a quickly moving blur, both animations that take the same amount of time. I suggest watching some footage.
On depth...we have to wait and see don't we? It seems that you can hang in clubs (such as Hells Club), do missions or craft and such. And if they let the players have such an impact on the storyline as they say they will, we might be looking forward to a very deep game ; - ).
Any opinions?

The end dialogue of Matrix Revolutions:
Oracle: What about the others?
Architect: What others?
Oracle: The one's that want out?
Architect: Obviously they will be freed.
Oracle: I have your word?
Architect: What do you think I am? Human?
After everyone in the matrix is freed from Smith, they obviously would have ALL realized something is wrong, which the very questioning of the reality of the matrix is their subconcious wayof wanting out. If you do not see this, then I am deemed with the unpleasant task of telling you to watch the movies again, and this time pay attention to subtext ( don't just stare at the pretty lights), and you might see these movies in their proper perspective. By the way, SARNO was right, because the game designers place the time period at the end of the 3rd movie, which as the dialogue shows, everyone is waking up or in the process of being woken up by the machines. And at the end of the second movie, the Architect states how the machines have other ways of survival that they are willing to do.
Watch the movies again. ( Pay attention this time)
P.S. The next time you try to be a smartass and tell people to watch the movies again, thinking you're funny, try to have the dignity to at least know what the hell you're talking about, cause you just end up looking like a fool.
If you think i am being to harsh, my apologies, but sometimes the truth tastes like crap.
I think noone will remember that incident. Especially since in MxO people npcs will be walking everywhere in the streets. Bluepills. The incident probably will be removed from their memory or something. Like a blue pill.
Which reminds me of something I forgot to say yesterday. The ongoing storyline and similiar can be red by reading the bluepill newspaper. When strange things happen, they probably will write about it. Which is cool. If strange things are happening, maybe your opposite side is doing something.
Though wether or not everyone knows after the smiths (I still believe their memory will be wiped. More convenient for the machines, no?) isn't important, because the war in MxO is about the machinists and zionists mainly. The humans like Cypher who wants to keep the matrix, and zionists like our heroes from the movies . The war is different now you see after what happened.
Im the eye of the needle Im the thorn in your side
Im the wall you will never break
Im the eye of the needle Im the thorn in your side
I find it simply amazing how many of you just dont get the matrix...first let me explain the end...the world is destroyed, if the matrix's inhabitants were awakened and thrown out into the real world...all them would die, the real world is extremely uninhabitable at this time (the machines arent even evil, they served us even after enslaving us, creating for us a world much better then the one we had availible). Remember cyphers words for the first movie...ignorance is bliss, and thusly not every bluepill is ready for the shock of encountering a world that is nothing like the one they spent all thier life in.
