My goodbye( for now ) to WoW(newbies read)

SkarmySkarmy Member Posts: 38
Blizzard provided me with a fun and addictive game in WoW and I appreciate that. The WoW community was grea to me(for the most part) and I appreciate that. The Alliance provided me with an outlet to my frustrations in the form of MANY alliance lowbies in STV to knock around ( HEY they were killing the little horlings all the same ) EVEN though i did my share of same-level PvP which to tell you the truth was a lot more fufilling and more fun to do. My conquests of WoW has been limited; MC, BWL, AQ20, ZG, Karazan but I still had tons of fun. I melted faces in a big way with my level 70 Warlock and pre-BC I took my share of beatings on my level 60 Warrior. The game has been fun and enjoyable to me although I had a lot of frustrations with BALANCE; especially when playing my warrior :( . Thank you everyone playing WoW for being a part of the world of Azaroth and giving me interaction. NO you cannot have my golds, my account is just frozen I might be making a return.

To any new player thinking of joining, PLEASE PLEASE when you create your character find a server in-need of the class you think you are wanting to play so you will have a more enjoyable raid experience end-game; NOTHING sucks worse than leveling your character to find that YOUR class is not needed and you will have a lot of trouble finding a good end-game guild.

EDIT for comment -     JEEZ those gold sellers were getting F*^^ing annoying too

    Playing skill > class.

If you are good enough, and are happy to put up with the long hours, then a member of any class can get into a raid. You just need to stand out from the crowd. This will be even more true with the upcoming changes that will limit the AOE damage many mobs do, making rogues more viable in raids (previously they were the least attractive class for raiding).

However if you want to get into raids without being a high quality player, then I'd suggest playing a healer.

Do you not agree that a NEW player with no in-game connections will experience difficulties in actually FINDING a good group for the heroic dungeons that they need to go though for the materials and gear they need to get ready for raid content if they are 1 in 25 of their class looking for a group for the same dungeon when there are only 12 groups forming ? The point of the statement is, under normal circumstances a new player will have a hard time progressing if they are playing a class that saturates the server.

Haha - Good healers are gold in WoW - bad healers are .... well dead raid.

Playing a healer in a raid is the hardest part u can do cause of long playing hours and constant focus on whos taking dmg and so on.  So generally, healers are the first players to quit.

If u are crap player lackin skill u wont get into decent guild doing anything other than easy raids.

Easiest class to play is a rogue imho.  Then warlock and then hunter.  Good equipped warrior is also some fun and with skill mages are uber.  They have fixed the priest quite abit but still not to powerfull as shadow soloing.  Shamans requer no skills at all, neither do paladins but pallies are really hard to lvl cause of very big gimp in dmg.  Specially after lvl 60 and they are getting the most nerf the next patch.   But if u wanna get little bit of everything roll a druid.

Come to Dark Age of Camelot, garanteed free of gold sellers.

Great PvP battles too as in castle sieges and realm vs realm.

Didn't say healer was easy mode. I've played a 60 priest. What I would say is that there are far more raid guilds LF healers than LF rogue or LF hunter. Hence you don't have to work so hard to stand out.

New players have 70 levels to make friends, find contacts and get into a semi-reasonable guild. If they are good at their role, people will remember them, and will take them in preference to some random unknown.

Or were you talking about ebayers? They may have problems...

I was in a GOOD solid raiding guild with my level 70 warlock, to anyone sais that a warlock is easy; YOU try raiding with a GEARED warlock ( I wasen't UUBER UUBER geared but I had something like + 900 shadow spell damage which was prety good ) Affliction destruction even without ruin ( I didn't have a good crit & so i stuck with DoTs for damage ) my aggro on KTM would always be near-top and if your soul-shatter get's resisted you are on thin-ice with your aggro and to keep your DPS up you would have to be very delicate ( or just completely stop, which isn't my style, I like to keep going ) SO it's not as easy as everyone makes it out to be if you have good gears.

Furthermore; healing class isn't for everyone and I would rather not have new healers in my raid anyways, I would rather have veteran healers that aren't just playing healbot because they want phat loots, rather because they ENJOY being the crucial raid asset in healing. Play what YOU enjoy playing, just know the risks of being overshadowed by the large number of other players sharing your class decision on the server you choose.

The best "I quit WoW" post I ever saw was a video parody of Top Gun, with Tom Cruise throwing the game box into the ocean with an uplifting electric guitar screaming in the background.

At least that one was funny.

Still waiting for your Holy Grail MMORPG? Interesting...

  • Yea, Its was more likely taken from Hot Shots where he throw his farthers eyes out. Anyway Top Gun won a Oscar for best music. "Take My Breath Away".  A descent movie to watch with ya girl.

I want to offer a counter opinion to the OP.

Yes, you have a better shot at being a lackluster player yet still get to raid if you are a healer.

This doesn't speak bad for healers, it just speaks bad for the fact hardly anyone wants to play one. And I believe there is a reason besides not getting to whack something over the head with a stick.

You have tons of different heals, as a priest, but when push comes to shove no one cares if you use them all as long as they stay alive. If you don't believe me, look at holy paladins in WoW today. 2 heals - unlimited mana and suddenly *they* are the masters of healing? Yes, because dpsers/tanks could give a flying fig if you used your mana more efficiently, if you had to juggle which heals to cast when,  to keep them alive.

So either by choice (priest) or by necessity (paladin) you spam a few heals - which doesn't take any skill whatsoever - keep your group alive and continue on. However this is extremely boring and TEDIOUS.

Knowing what I know, I cannot under any circumstances, understand why someone would play a healer JUST to get to raid. For the most part you'll only get healing gear which does crap for you anywhere else except to raid more.

Being able to pvp solo or in a group, quest solo if you want, farm solo if you want, group decently is a fair tradeoff for only being able to heal in a raid.

No it was actually Top Gun.  Hot Shots was mostly a parody of Top Gun (along with other films - I think)
