Hi folks. Thought I'd drop in with some tasty tidbits I've picked up recently.
Chapter 6:
...is being held back till next week. The reason? The devs found a couple of last-minute bugs they wanted to take care of before releasing Chapter 6 to Live, so it's going to miss today's patch window. The next likely window for Chap. 6 is Tuesday 22nd. DeadMeat has apologized for the delay, but says that he would rather not release the Chapter until it is as polished and clean as it can be. Feel free to head over to the SWG forums and flay him alive - if his bosses haven't already done it for you.
Chapter 7:
So, with Chapter 6 almost out of the gate, it's time to look ahead to Chapter 7. My leet Dev Tracker skills have been put to use, and I can reveal a few things that will be making an appearance in Chapter 7.
Everyone's favourite server infrastructure programmer, DevH, has started a brainstorming discussion regarding the problems caused by not having enough room for stuff in your houses and how it might be solved via the collection system.
Big B (aka Blixtev) has said that the item limit issue will be resolved in an upcoming chapter, though it's too early to tell if he will consider DevH's proposal for extra storage via the collection system.
Comments
It's good to see that the Dev's are making sure what they release is polished instead of just throwing it out there.
Does anyone have anymore info on this collection system as I have never played EQ2 and do not fully understand what it is?
Guess I will need to read up on the good old internet.
Looks like things maybe headed in the right direction

From what's been described to me, you basically collect a bunch of stuff and then your hand it in and you unlock something. Theoretical examples given so far have been things like schematics that you can have crafted to increase the item limit on your house(s), new items, new abilities, new quest series, etc. As for where you find the objects, it's been mentioned that killing and looting will not be the only option. You might get the objects just from talking to NPCs or you might find them lying on the ground in a random spot. Which is good, because again they're not exlcuding those that play non-combat roles
Nice post dirtyd77, thanks.
I think we are also getting a particle slider in Chapter 7.
Here is what I would like to see, putting space aside for Chapter 8:
1. Polish, plain and simple. Time to give combat a look over and start making bigger strides to get back animations. This includes dealing with clipping.
2. Address the inability to easily create quest content. Development of internal tools that would allow someone like Pex to help create quest content.
3. Expand the Legacy and start developing branches that would create different outcomes. I know, lot of people hate the Legacy but expanding on it and creating more variety could help.
4. Underworld GCW, time to either put it in or start laying down the ground work.
5. It won't happen in the next chapter put start laying down the ground work for some more Expertise, like they did with BM. I know they have talked about Droid Commander and some others.
6. More content for crafters, in fact every publish should continually be adding new items for crafters. Weapon Smith seems to be a place to spend some dev team.
7. That cat is out of the bag on Jedi, they do need something aside from the GCW for 90's to work toward however.
Sure I missed a whole lot of other stuff but that is what I am think off the top of my head.
That would be nice. Though I would also like to see more furniture, weapons, droids and structures available. How many times have you gone into a NPC building seen something they have that we can't get and wish you could? If its in the the game, generally, we should be able to get it.
As far as how they would solve the "Not enough room in a house/inventory" why not make it like the Musty cube or the Rug/table tools where you drop items in a specific machine that removes it from your inventory and counts it to your collection status. Again, they already have it in game, why not make use of it.
Anyhow looking forward to furture Chapters
"If we don't attack them, they will attack us first. So we'd better retaliate before they have a chance to strike"
Some things I'd like to see in future Chapters:
* Roads added to planets
* Reworking the vehicles so you don't bounce around so much when traveling over uneven ground
* A Farmer profession (like they had in beta)
Man, I must say I hope they don't make you 'pop' on your mount with this Chapter. I like to ride up to a cantina, dismount, and leave it standing outside while I go in for a drink.
BTW, Dirty77, whats your in-game name on Bloodfin (if you don't mind)?
I miss the good ol' days when nerds were actually intelligent.
SWG is in the last stages, IMHO.
I played the game for a few years and rode the downward spiral.
SWG took out everything that made the game 'unique' and 'worth playing' and added too few things in an effort to make up the difference.
SWG2 or KOTOR-Online should've been out by now and this wounded dog should've been taken out back and dispatched.
SOE still refuses to listen to the player base and do things players have asked for. Simple and some not-so-simple things:
1) player animations would be nice. Not the over-the-top, ugly, and distracting 'effects' like those of the Medic heals, for example. Melee characters do the poke, poke, jab routine. Where are the old TK, Fencer, Pike, Sword, and Jedi animations?
2) clothing and armor options. New items. More 'StarWarsy and Iconic' items. Where are they? Jedi running around looking like orphan's dressed as Ronald McDonald or Bozo the Clown... not the mythical icon's they are supposed to be. Everyone who wears armor... all look the same (they can't even mod the color of their armor like they used to).
3) weapons, crystals, hilts, items. Not just the 'few' you get as GCW rewards or Restuss items. I'm talking 'Epic' items. Historically, any weapon that wasn't crafted sucked in SWG. Some are diff in Mustafar. In the PreCu days, dot weapons could at least be looted. The only thing worth looting in SWG were pearls, crystals, and some clothing items.
4) fix lag. Part of the lag is gone, because... well, most of the player base is gone. But the way planets and surfaces are rendered and spawned is terrible.
5) to follow on to 4, graphic re-visit. Something needs to change because it was really looking 'old'. Sure, the game still looks better than WoW... but it's losing that 'pop' that it once had. It looks like a legacy game at this point, imho.
6) functional jumping. Self-explanatory.
7) atmospheric flight. Something to tie in JTL with the rest of the game... really.
8) levelling is terrible. The game never had very many quests to begin with. Certainly nothing to help you level, anyway. Now the Legacy Quest line will supposedly do that for you, then leads you to Kash/JTL area, then Musta/ToOW area.
9) add group/raid options.
10) Hoth?
11) Dockable space-stations.
Etc.,...
Love Star Wars.
Hate Star Wars Galaxies.
Pre-CU just about everyone ran around in composite because generally it was the best all around armor. Post CU the other, existing, armor sets were given much more viability.
As for new armor, a number of different armor sets have been added since launch. Mando, BH, RIS, all the wookie armor sets, and several factional armor sets were not available at launch.
Saying that no new armor has been added in 4 years is not quite accurate.

4 years or 2 years, it's still a long time :PI miss the good ol' days when nerds were actually intelligent.
You are thinking of a dfferent Marauder armor actually
The one added in the CU was a battle armor, the quest one is recon and different graphics.
