I want to find another MMO to put my time into. I'm tired of WoW.
I've played AO/DAOC/EQ1/EQ2/SWG/LOTR:O/AC/FFXI
There might be one or two in there I never mentioned. Anyways.. I'm a 4 year EQ vet but I was slightly thinking of playing either EQ1 or EQ2. Whatever will run well on Dial-up. Patches aren't an issue because I have friends who will DL them for me and I'll get a flash drive.
Any suggestions?

You are doomed trying to play any mmo on 56k sorry its just the facts.
Other than that, you could try phantasy star universe; It would work, but it can get wonky playing with other people, since its based so much on the client, you can melee monsters that look right next to you on the client, but to the server and everyone else are far away, so it looks like your slashing thin air and doing damage to a monster far away. However i will say that PSU isn't a very good game either way, regardless of your connection, but its really your only other option.
Very true, but the update after he first installs will be an overnight affair. If he's OK with that, then no problem. I don't know of anyway to get FFXI updates except through the online automatic upgrade; I don't think you can download the updates on to a separate file on a flash drive (or DVD burn).

However, if he doesn't have it installed already, he can have a friend copy their install folder onto a disk and then transfer to his.
Not surprisingly, the older games seem to handle dial-up better then the newer ones.
