I would play if SOE wasnt invoved and if it was Pre-CU. ( or if bioware made a kotor MMO! ) I wish SOE would bring back pre-cu and only fix bugs, no gameplay tweaks.. Either way, theres always SWGEmu!
To make a great new starwars mmo is going to cost a hell of alot of money if it is to be a success and it would need to be released polished with content.
EQ2 cost 6 million $
WoW cost 80 million $
By the time it starts being made the expectation from the average mmo gamer will be higher than it is today and starwars fans will be demanding somthing new and exciting. So how much are we looking at? At least 100 million $? I also imagine LA would want a fat paycheck upfront just for the license. To bring back that kind of cash is going to require millions of subscribers, Who would take that risk after the swg disaster? Definitely not SOE.
I don't think any company would attempt a starwars mmo or really even want to work with LA on one. Hope I'm wrong but I expect to see cheap WoW clones for the foreseeable future.
Dudes. does pre-cu mean like the KoToR period? If so then hell yes. But one thing, I don't think they should try make a character with a blaster gun balanced with a jedi, its just dumb. It should be like KoToR where other options are available (mainly for npc's) but the focus is on jedi/sith. The only excpetion i can think of is a class simular to a bounty hunter, like jango fet, which could actually kill a jedi, the rest can go home. (I haven't played SWG, episodes 4,5,6 where fun as a child but they bore me, plus it has a bad rep.)
In Kotor2 soldiers owned Jedis lol. Have a soldier fully feated out with precise shot and two elite watchman blasters fully upgraded. Dropped all 3 jedi masters with no difficulty. I know what you mean, but KOTOR isn't neccessarily the best example hahaha.
Yes I would but I liked SWG alot better when a Jedi class was RARE!!!! Now you can start out to become a jedi that is so stupid. I just got a 14 day freetrail to see how the game is now compaired to when I had only seen 1 jedi in the game and I was maxed out in like 2 professions. Now it is one profession, all the way and you can be a jedi. Jedi accounts went for like 7,000 dollars back in the day, now they are like 100
The good news is SOE/LA already have a core system, the pre-CU environment. Sure the implementation was horrid, but the base mechanics were solid. If SOE released a game with the pre-CU's core, concentrated on bug fixes, and implemented some of the new RP stuff (allowing players to use NPCs for events, etc.), I'd buy it in a heart beat.
Ico Oh, cruel fate, to be thusly boned. Ask not for whom the bone bones. It bones for thee.
i definatly would play i just hope it would be more of a combo of cu and pre cu and with more of the planets actually having a use to them not like now over half the planets are useless and we need HOTH

EQ2 cost 20+ million.
I miss the good ol' days when nerds were actually intelligent.
That's what I miss in any decent MMO of the moment: Freedom of choice...
