First off, if you're into Guild Wars, then you probably enjoy PvP.  There's no PvP in LotRO.  Well, there is, but there isn't.  Check out their Monster Play concept on their main site for the PvP aspect of the game.  Since you need to be lvl 40+ as a "good guy" (i.e., your main toons) to get into the Ettenmoors, the game's still too new to have very many of those out there, so the jury's still out on PvP in LotRO.  Your dwarf will certainly never be ganking elves.  That's not Tolkein.  We're all on the same side in LotRO.

LotRO is graphically a gorgeous, well-polished job, maybe the most beautiful game to date.  BUT...you need a substantial rig to run it.  It blew up my old 2.5 GHz PIV/Radeon 9700 Pro rig with 1 gig mem.  Rebuilding the rig to a Core2Duo/NX8800GTX/2 gig mem rig allows me to run LotRO at its highest settings and it's amazing graphically.  So somewhere in between those should work well.  Your rig does sound like it's a bit on the low side for that game, though.  It really does need some power.

LotRO is a quest-grinder rather than a monster-grinder, so keep that in mind as well.  Don't know which style you prefer.  It's a good game, and in extremely good shape for being only a month old.  If you're a Tolkein fan, you should love it.  If not, you might need to wait for AoC, War and/or Tabla Rasa.  Give you some time to gather the resources to upgrade your system, as you'll need to for those games too, I'm afraid.

I'm a huge tolkien fan, and in fact followed the game back when Sierra was in charge of it.

And for that main cause, was my most passionate reason for having such contempt for the game. I found it to be in complete opposition to the spirit of Tolkien's universe.

I actually enjoyed the Tolkiens cartoon movies more then the peter jackson (director?) big budget stuff.

I found the big movies a shadow of the books, uninspiring.  Well there were a few good scenes.

But I think the cartoons were more intellectual.  I'm not really interested in LOTRO, i'm trying Ryzom now.

Make sure that the second digit in your new graphics card is a seven or higher to avoid any budget crap.

A six is good too if it's the 8000 series from nVidia.
