Now this is just my own personal speculation and (hope) but after I went through countless articles, interviews, and things of that sort for my research paper for college on SWG I began to try to piece all these rumors with facts behind them and came up with something kinda crazy. Now like I said this is just something my twisted mind came up with and I'm not asking anyone to regard it as the absolute outcome or fact but it should be a good read nonetheless. Now I'm sure I'm gonna leave some things out so if you want to research further yourselves be my guest. It's been stated that subscriptions were not doing good right before the NGE. The NGE was announced on the boards I think November 4,2005.The game at that time I thought was doing well people were happy with the new expansion and such. However the day before Bioware and Pandemic joined together on November 3,2005.Bioware being the creators of KOTOR,Pandemic doing the Battlefront series. The two best selling Star Wars games ever. They also have an office in Austin,TX stated on the Bioware/Pandemic website. Rumors are going wild that Bioware is making a KOTOR mmorpg as well as Free Radical doing the next Battlefront. If you look at the stream engine Bioware has recently announced they were using it looks like it could handle the type of Battlefront action rather well(unless my dumb ass read it wrong and completly misunderstood it)With as much sucess that Battlefront has had why not have Pandemic do another one? Bioware has said they are not doing KOTOR 3,so could that mean they will take the first KOTOR since they have the engine for it already, which is what they let Obsidian use for KOTOR 2,and use that world setting IF they are actually doing a Star Wars MMO? A Battlefront/KOTOR combined mmorpg would indeed deliver that star wars feeling they said the NGE was supposed to bring. Now the real messed up part my twisted thinking came up with is this.SOE has said they will not rollback/or do a classic server and have said the implementation of the NGE was what they said they would of changed. Also saying they CAN'T as well I think. Could it be that well since the NGE is now a FPS type, are they just testing out what to expect and letting LA know what kinds of problems to focus on during development IF in fact a Battlefront/KOTOR type game is in the works, and allowing SWG to remain on the station pass and most likely allowing SOE to host the game like they did with VG before they bought it out? IF a game like this would come to be it surely would change the MMO world and seeing as the new rumor is Blizzard may be going after the sci-fi fans with their new mmorpg,we can only hope this scenario plays out. It is obvious the more popular version of SWG was pre-cu/cu and to ignore the pleas for a classic server and let your name be tarnished by screwing over your fans and being well known for it,from a business stance you have to try to save face.By either making an unbelievable game learning from your mistakes,or saving face and apologizing and giving both versions to the players. Crap I went off base here but I think you get the point. Like I said it's just wishful thinking but a good read I hope nonetheless.

As I said, this is just something my twisted mind came up with and I'm not asking anyone to regard it as the absolute outcome or fact, but it should be a good read nonetheless. Now I'm sure I'm gonna leave some things out, so if you wish to research further, be my guest.
It's been stated that subscriptions were not doing well right before the NGE. The NGE was announced on the boards, I think, November 4, 2005. The game at that time (I thought) was doing well; people were happy with the new expansion and such. However, on the day prior to this, Bioware and Pandemic joined together. Bioware made KOTOR and Pandemic created the Battlefront series, two of the best-selling Star Wars games ever.
They also have an office in Austin,TX as stated on the Bioware/Pandemic website. Rumors are going wild that Bioware is making a KOTOR mmorpg, and it's also said that Free Radical is doing the next Battlefront. With as much success that Battlefront has had, why not have Pandemic do another one? Bioware has said that they are not making a KOTOR 3, so could that mean that they will take the first KOTOR since they have the engine for it already (which is what they let Obsidian use for KOTOR 2) and use that world setting for a new Star Wars MMO?
A Battlefront/KOTOR combined mmorpg would indeed deliver that "Star Wars feeling" they said the NGE was supposed to bring. Now the real messed up part of my twisted thinking is this: SOE has said that they will not perform a "rollback" or create a classic server, and have gone on to say that the implementation of the NGE was what they would have changed. However, I believe SOE stated that they do not have the ability to "rollback" or create a server with the older game system on it. (Editor's note: Julio Torres of LA said that a classic server would be "easy" to create, but that they would not do so. However, SOE still denies this, and maintains that such a change would be unfeasible.)
Could it be that, since the NGE is a FPS-style of game, they are just testing out what to expect, and letting LA know what kind of problems to focus on during development of a Battlefront/KOTOR-type game? Thus, allowing SWG to remain on the Station Pass, and most likely allowing SOE to host the game as they did with VG before they bought it out?
If a game like this came to be, it would surely change the MMO world. Seeing as the new rumor is that Blizzard may be going after the sci-fi fans with their new mmorpg, we can only hope this scenario plays out. It is obvious that the more popular version of SWG was pre-cu/cu, and to ignore the pleas for a classic server and let your name be tarnished by screwing over your fans (And being well known for it), is simply bad business. The only way to redeem themselves would be to either make an unbelievably good game by learning from your mistakes, or save face by apologizing and giving both versions to the players. Crap, I went off base here, but I think you get the point. Like I said it's just wishful thinking, but a good read (I hope!), nonetheless.
I'm sorry if my editing isn't the best right now, but it IS 2 a.m.
I tried not to take too much liberty with it, but I may have gotten carried away.

Yeah I just through that out there cuz I can't make any sense as to why a company wouldn't try to please both fans and save some face considering the backlash they got from doing it to begin with.
