Has anyone played it and would consider it an MMORPG, specifically the "[I:RPG] Eol Crater (alpha)" zone/server? For anyone who hasn't played it, it's like SubSpace only with human soldiers instead of spaceships. It's a top down view shooting game. You play as a soldier and choose from a number of different classes. Then you go around killing other players and also NPC's for xp and cash. You can build up your skills to be faster, gain more health, and gain new weapons. To me it seems to be an MMORPG except for low player numbers, it peaks at about 200 people I think (I haven't played in months). Also it should be noted it costs $7.95 a month to play.

The game is more of a standard multi-player online game than it is a MMORPG due to several key factors not being present for a real MMORPG.

I loved playing this game, hours of fun but i wouldn't consider it an mmo just a really good multiplayer.

I don't like how you have to pay now otherwise its 30 minute sessions, it's why i said see ya later. Cheers infantry online..... cheers.

Yeah I used to play them too. I really loved Tanarus; got it on my Everquest CD and thought at the time that it was worth the $10 a month. This was like 3 years ago.

Then it went free with an announcement that Everquest is more than successful enough to cover costs, and later when Verant was absorbed by Sony they announced that 'beta was now over, time to pay'. Lol like I was fooled by that. The new guy in charge at Sony got rid of all the free games, not just free Infantry and Tanarus.

Infantry and Cosmic Rift are fun little games, but not worth paying for. And they aren't exactly MMORPGs as has been said.
