No, quite the contrary. I was a bit disappointed at first and thought it was a bit too easy and confining, but it got better and better all the time. Now, most of the quests I pick up requires a group, and I would be extremely bored if finding a group was virtually impossible like in Vanguard, but it isn't - far from.
I'm level 28 now and haven't had so much fun in a MMO for a long time. And for the first time since DAoC and early EQ2, I enjoy grouping as much (if not more) as soloing. There's no "L2P n00b", "FFS!!!", "OMFG!!11 this group is teh suxzorz" which pretty much sums up my grouping experience in WoW. It might be different later on in raiding instances, but for now, grouping is a lot of fun. Only thing to top it must be my MMO debut, which was DAoC. But I guess your first MMO will always be special somehow.
Bored? Certainly not. The epic quest lines are increasingly impressive. I just hit 30 tonight; the level of detail that I saw in the early levels I can say is maintained through the 20's. Yup some quests do have you kill lotsa stuff; what MMO doesn't have such quests? At least in LotRO the grind is concealed better than in any other MMO I've played. (Except EVE, an apples and oranges comparison if there ever was one.) But you do get the deeds and traits for killing lots, finding places, finding all the flower types, etc. etc. And leveling has a skill, every level, NOT every other level. So far, on each odd level you get a passive skill, like improved evasion (on top of the normal skill increases with level) or dual wielding, and on each even level a combat skill.
So, the point I'm meandering to; it has more anti-boredom qualities than any other game I've played.
Played... 90 hours - Level 22 ... Does that explain enough. I've been to a bard contest yesterday and stayed for 3 hours, got into Silmarillon-talk in the pony and after that went out on a hill and watched the stars with a guildie, total played time - 5 hours. Total ingame experience gained - 0XP. I've never been farther away from being bored since spending the night at a bonfire with friends playing P&P when I was 13... This game doesn't even LET me level or grind...

Hit 21 last night with my Captain. Finding it more necessary to group for quests, however, my son and I play and we are about the same level so that helps a lot. Not seeing a lot of need for my class in fellowships which worries me a bit but I hear that Captains are getting some kind of buff next content patch. I am truly loving exploring the world and someone made a comment earlier about not thinking about leveling as much as enjoying the game, which is where my head is. This is the most fun I've had playing an MMORPG since DAOC.
To all the people who are playing the game and are positive about it, these threads are going to be more and more , now that SOE is running Vanguard. Because MMORPG.COM can't really do anything about viral marketing , we as a community just have to put up with these attacks and pretty much not answer them and let them sink . Only a trolls and or other Viral marketers will keep threads like this at the top so it will be a lot easier to watch who they are , instead of communicating with them .
I've been playing the game for over 6months, and I am level 30 and haven't even dented my quest log . The only real limits is your own.
I found the game past lvl 20 very boring does anyone agree?
Im so glad you broke the ice - I made it to lvl 17 and jus felt like I was pushing myself into playing.

There are what? 3 billion people in the world? Just accept that not all of them want to play LOTRO.
The fact that its taken you 6 months to hit 30 suggests an extremely casual playstyle to put it lightly which suggests youre bored of it too but pushing yourself into playing.
And Vanguard came out before LOTRO.

No biggy, I will be going back to EQ2 after the next update anyway this coming week for a while anyway.
Hehe I resubbed station access 10 minutes before you said that.

We got bored kinda fast, meaning my wife and I. It's just not much variety. It seems we prefer something in teh way of a challenge, but there really isn't much here. We've come to understand that, for us, Zero-Risk gameplay equals Zero-reward gameplay...nothing ventured, nothing gained, blah blah blah.
Games lately (LotRO included) have become a 'turn-the-crank venture and gameplay comes out the other end. I'm not getting why people are enjoying this trend. If I sat there watching a movie, i can pick up the remote and pretend I am 'playing' the movie with much the same results. Oh well. at least some peeps like it I guess.

Hehe I resubbed station access 10 minutes before you said that. 30 bucks a month now isn't it? Quite a bit considering it is 1 good title ( EQII) and Matrix, SWG, EQ1 and Vanguard. Shrug each to his own I suppose. By the way have the did anymore more server merges in EQ2 since I left last November? I like EQII but it got old after a while, no way I would pay a dime for the other titles in the pass. Even all combined they are not worth an extra 15 bucks a month.

I've been enjoying my monster more so than my regular character. Finish a few quests on the regular toon then go slaughter the grinders on my monster. It's a good pace and I've yet to get *bored*.

www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/129955 How exactly does me playing Vanguard negate by ability to play LotRO? We were both (wife and I) in Closed Beta, myself for quite awhile (For LotRO, not Vanguard, thank god). That is some exquisite Logic, mate

If you think that by players posting that they are bored of LOTRO, that all the sudden thousands will flock to Vanguard, then I've got some Oklahoma Timberland to sell you. In other words, its just not going to happen. From what I have read on the various Vanguard forums, the current subscribers are leaving in droves, because most of them hate SOE. Others are leaving because they simply feel they were cheated. There is a lot of bad blood surrounding Vanguard at this point, and no matter how many "negative" posts you see about other games on other forums, it won't change Vanguard's circumstances.
Personally, I don't see that game lasting more than a year.

It's great that you found a game that you love! This year and next year are going to bring in a few games for people to love!

Strange thing is if The Matrix and Planetside are still on minimum crew life support for years I have no doubt VG will limp along also. Server merges will probably happen but SOE will keep it if for nothing else to justify their 30 buck a month station pass.
Does anyone really believe posting positives or negatives about this or any other game really make a shit in the long run? I don't. Apparently the management at Sigil did, hell of a lot of good it did them.
In a word, yes. I think I played beta too much, maybe- I'm not sure, but I know I only made it about 4 or 5 days and to about level 15 after release before I threw in the towel. It's pretty, has a nice story, but in the end it's just too much of the same thing every other game does. In my opinion, yes, it's boring.

Not totally but getting there.. I am seeing a lot of repeating quests now.. tons of whack-a-pig stuff..
Overall LOTRO seems kind of shallow. If not for the LOTR storyline, it would have far less hype. Lot's of unfinished stuff in the game, like crafting.
