Just a few comments as threads like this one crack me up........
Point #1: Cheaters/Exploiters/Scammers - I have yet to play any MMO that doesn't have cheaters, exploiters and scammers, in that sense EVE is just like any other MMO in this respect and if you don't like it you shouldn't be playing online games. Be smart and you'll never get scammed.
Point #2: Lag - I have yet to play any MMO that didn't have at least a small amount of lag especially in high traffic areas or areas where a lot of animation is going on at the same time(Everywhere in EVE as the backgrounds themselves are animated). Again unless someone wants to reinvent the way the internet sends data packets you shouldn't play online games if you have a problem with this.
Point #3: Nasty Players - This is an open PvP game and the universe is a harsh place at times. Eve is probably the only open PvP game where I DIDN'T run into this from day one right in the newbie area. If you can't take this type of attitude from others then you have no business playing an open PvP game......period.
Point #4: Uncaring staff - This is the first and ONLY game I've ever played where a Community Service rep PMed me in game on my second day of playing to see how I was making out and to see if I had any questions. This alone put this game WAY above the rest in my mind for community relations.
Point #5: Cheating Dev(s) - As far as I can see this was one small series of incidents that actually happened over 9 months ago now and had so little in game impact that no-one even noticed until just three months ago when CCP themselves came clean about the incident. This was one Dev that did this and the way everyone is talking you'd think the whole company was involved all the way up to the CEO. I personally think they could have handled it differently but this was an internal company issue for CCP and how they handle these things is nobody's business but theirs.......just like every other large company.
This is yet another reason I don't think CCP knows what they are doing. So far I've only seen them good at adding more buggy content and ignoring things that are real problems...

They know exactly what they are doing. Problem is that people take responses from GMs as if they are straight from Ovuers mouth. When this problem when uncovered a GM stated it was not a exploit, I say again a GM. The devs then came back and said no he was wrong this is not how its supposed to function. GMs do not know everything and occasionally they are short the required information to make a decision, People love to start screaming if they don't get the answer they want right away. Amazingly there is this process of escalating problems up through GMs, Senior GMs, and Devs. Since nobodies life is on the line, let the process take its course.

omg its a miracle a person on this thread with common sense im amazed Thank you......I have amazing powers of observing the obvious. People need to start seeing games, games in general not just EVE for what they are and what they can offer the player. Getting hung up on what might happen is no reason not to enjoy a game. People need to be less paranoid and just play games to have fun as that is what they are for. If your having fun I can guarantee that none of this BS people get hung up on will matter at all.

You can be having fun, while still being scammed....if you don't care your being scammed, more power to you....at least you know your being scammed........By playing Eve your promoting Dev & GM corruption...
Dev's cheating in other games has little to no impact on the players ( besides them seeing cool Eye candy if they see the Dev). There is a reason why most other mmorpgs don't connect all the servers together, they don't want the economy to be all inter-related....In Eve, since the servers are all connected, it means that their cheating has economic effects that are felt thru-out Eve.....
In most other mmorpgs if not all, the Dev's don't create crafting items that will make them rich, the Dev's in other games aren't so petty and are pretty much already in god mode, they could make themselves rich with a simple command.....unless they handed these riches to everyone on there server (which effectively is happening in Eve), its not the same thing.........
If you think your not being affected, you'll eventually realize you are....it might take awhile, but you'll realize it.........
How much fun are you having and at what cost? Aren't there equally fun stuff elsewhere?

lol - read my original post.......If your smart you'll never get scammed in any game. Scammers prey on people that are either A) Stupid or in so much of a hurry they are not paying attention to detail. This is true for EVERY MMO EVER CREATED not just EVE. If your so hung up on this than quite simply go play another game. I can guarantee that if you fell for a scam in EVE you'll fall prey to a similar one in whatever game you go to.
Also the "Cheating Devs" problem has been blown completely out of proportion by the community. This was one small series of incidents that happened over 9 months ago and was perpetrated by only one dev....not the entire company. This has had zero impact on my own personal enjoyment of the game. It only effects yours because your so hung up on it that you can see nothing else so you've hauled out your personal soap box and decided to tell the whole world about something you actually know little about. This was an internal company issue in CCP and they handled it the way they saw fit. If you don't agree with it.......too bad as it was their problem to fix and they did as the situation warranted. How they handle internal company issues is nobody's business but theirs as is true for all large companies and CCP is no different in that respect.
By your very rant against my post you've just proven my point about how people can get so hung up on what might happen that they let it get in the way of enjoying a game for what it is. Maybe you should just take off your hate blinders and get down off your soap box and you might just find that EVE is still just as fun as you once found it to be. If you constantly worry about what others are doing you'll find fault with every game and never have fun in any of them. Do yourself a favor and just play games to have fun as that is what they are for.
if anyone gets screwed in EVE online then its their own fault.. games should be more like this if ur gonna be a lil girl about losing ur money because u got scammed its your own fault u kno the consequences.

It did had a ripple effect on the economy. The Great War started. Thanks to that minerals soar in prices when the loses started being felt by those involved. You can either pout about the situation and stop playing. Or take your mining laser out and make it positive for you. I was selling Tritanium, Pyerite and Mexallon at nearly 3x times it's normal price.
To answer your questions... I'm having fun for 130 mill isk a month. If you find some fun elsewhere, then go elsewhere.
I have been with EVE since early BETA and have been playing my current character for two years now.
EVE is a lot like real life, the economy systems certainly is. And if you think of EVE like that then you are just as likely to get scammed there as in real life. Eyes in your neck people!!!
And that is also the whole beauty of it, it really is a cold harsh world. There are, off course, friendly players and people that will help you out a LOT, but just like real life.. So stop complaining about being scammed and just get smarter!!!!
And the whole "devs are cheating" thing, just get over it..

"So when people kill you it can hardly count as nasty."
When I read this I went "huh!?" Funny and logicaly wacked.
This is Eve.
Eve is about scamming, backstabbing, murder, devious market plots, ethugs and cheating(by the game rules, not hacking).
It is a ruthless, cutthroat game.
I myself don't like that so I quit. (That and the huge amount of time it takes to play this 2nd job game.)
I have been with EVE since early BETA and have been playing my current character for two years now.
