Of those of you playing PotBS, how does it compare to disney's new Pirates of the Caribbean game?

Well for one, PotBS is not going to have flashing banner ads.

PotBS looks like a good game...

Really this game took some drive to make..

With great love and respect for the disney corporation I offer:

    PotCO vs PotBS:
Ad supported free to play vs. subscription
Disney style animation vs. near photorealistic
stuck in a window surrounded by ads vs full screen
    disney-level stoyline/violence vs. near realistic

    that help?
I mean, disney games all have pretty much the same style movement, animation, etc.
The released screenshots for PotBS alone should answer a bulk of the differences. Not to mention depth/complexity of gameplay, control of ships, strategy.

I mean, PotC is Disney for goodness sakes. As much as I love Disney, they are not an MMOG company. It's not their bag, it's not their focus. They will not be as adept at it as a company that does focus there. /shrug

That's my comparison at any rate

Thanks Quirk.  That was pretty much the same impression i've been getting.  I like photorealistic graphics and good gameplay.  I'm in the beta for PotC now and it's almost a joke.  Quest go like this:

Quest Giver:  Talk to the person behind you

Me: Turn around and talk to the person behind me

    Game: Quest complete!

    Game: New level!

Game: Game over.  Please fill out this survey and tell us about your experience.

Exaggerated obviously, but that's how i felt about the complexity of this game.

PotBS is in closed beta and their betatesters are under NDA!

PotBS is a better game no doubt. But just remember that PotCO was intended for a very young audience of around 10-14. I played a bit of PotCO and it isnt that bad. The lack of depth disturbs me in games but it is still pretty fun.

PotBS will focus a lot of PvP, economics, and port conquest (nation vs nation) while PotCO will focus more on fantasy (although PotBS does have some fantasy hidden in certain edges of the caribbean) and bringing to life the characters and areas from the movies.

As many have said in this thread, and there are ALOT of comments made on this very subject in similar threads.  PotBS is an adult game based on the lines of history, like many historical games it shares a historic theme but is nowhere near historicaly correct, rarely any if any historic game is.  PotBS is near release, while PotC is still deep in development.  I won't say much about PotC because much can change before its release.  PotC at release with Disney's founding will actually be a pretty decent game, lil on the childish side, but none the less will have some pretty good gameplay experiance.  But in the long run for game experiance, you'll see a much more dedicated crowd in PotBS, much like past games such as SWG and Everquest.  Other than that, I think PotBS will be a much better game.

Like most said curently PotBS is aiming for a +16 comunity,it is more historicly accurante,I am not sure but it does contain some mithical creatures acording to legends of that period. While PotC is aimed at a younger audience +12,it is based on the film in most part.

I did see the "At worlds end" yesterday, and i have never felt so much urge to play PotBS. They better release it soon.

They just delayed it for about a month or two. But they did say they will be "agressively expanding the beta". Which should be good.
